Lucas leaned his head back on the backseat of the car, relaxing to his heart's content as he took long calming breaths from the cool air of the car. These past few months have been tiring him a lot with his pack and business duties.
Last year, he experienced a loss in his business and because of that, his company went down a bit. He was slightly depressed at first, but somehow recovered and worked shit hard, not concentrating much on anything else. Most of the days he used to sleep in his office, but with his forbearance, he survived to regain his company's position back and this time the rank crossed the rank his company had before.
But that didn't make him breathe in relief whatsoever, he still had many other pack things to do. No doubt, the beta helped him in lots of areas, but there are just a few parts where Alphas knew how to work out more than anyone else. Sometimes it felt better dying than living like this. But that's the cowards' way to escape problems.
"Alpha Lucas, there's a call for you," his fourth in-command; delta informed from the passenger seat, half turning with a smart mobile in his hand looking at his Alpha.
Lucas suspired out but didn't attempt to take the phone. "Is it Alpha Ava?"
The Delta nodded discreetly.
Lucas closed his eyelids in slight anger. He accepted to help Alpha Ava from her misery, after all, he is the Alpha head of the country. But what was most irritating was Lucas didn't like how Ava called him almost every day just to know about his daily work and his health. He didn't understand why? She wasn't his mother and for sure she wasn't his mate either.
It didn't seem like she wanted friendship, in fact, she wanted more than that and Lucas wasn't in the mood to play love games with her. He had a mate somewhere and he was desperately waiting for her to show up.
Reluctantly, Lucas grasped the mobile bringing it to his ear. "What the hell do you want Ava?"
Ava rolled her eyes, not troubled by his usual retort. "Where are you?"
"It shouldn't concern you?"
"I heard that you are heading to that school lands you bought," she stated, ignoring his previous questions.
"I don't think that's any of your business," Lucas commented.
"Fine. I won't question further," Ava disappointedly replied.
"Why did you call me?"
"I wanted to send you my gratitude for what you did. Thank you. Because of you Alpha Ryan apologized to me and promised me that he wouldn't cause any problems to my pack any more in the future."
Lucas casually scratched the upper area of his eyebrow. "No problem. As an Alpha head that was my duty."
Ava smiled looking down at her fingers. "Thank you, Lucas."
Lucas pulled the phone away from his ear after she cut the line. He wasn't shocked nor was he puzzled when Ava had regarded him with his first name. It wasn't a rule for the high rankers to greet themselves with their titles, but it was just a simple gesture of respect towards each other. But it didn't mean that Ava has a right to call Lucas with the first name basis, he didn't want her to be the exception.
He expected everyone in the country to treat him as Alpha head. He was the head of each and every werewolf existing in his country, even the same was expected from humans. Besides his mate, no one was the exception, especially Ava. She was definitely not on his list of interests. He never supported himself in having any sort of romantic relationships with any lady except his mate. He was a loyal werewolf to his kind and didn't have any intention to make the fun of the natural bonds bestowed upon him.
Alpha Lucas was one of the role models for many werewolves. He would always be one.

"The movers will be here by 2 in the afternoon. Will you stay here till then?" The school's principal; Mr D'Arco asked in his gruff voice.
"Um, no. I just came here for the last round around school and of course, to meet you for the last time. I'll leave in a minute." I replied with a genuine smile.
Our principal was a great man in his fifties, from his good looks no one could imagine him being that old. He was a tough man with beautiful features, he looked like one of the senior actors in Hollywood.
The work at our school was still not over yet. The furniture in four to five classrooms was needed to be moved out along with the furniture in the principal's room and the meeting room.
"I have to say, Ms Blaine, you look amazing as always, even the ring looks pretty on your finger," he complimented, not looking up at me when he said that, but rather busy stuffing his files in the boxes.
What he said was right, the ring sat beautifully on the ring finger of my right hand, contrasting with my porcelain skin. It's the same ring Skylar gave me, I thought I would wear since it looked so eye-catching.
"Thank you, Mr D'Arco."
"Anytime Heaven, and by the way, would you help me clean the sofas, please? And also clean the covers too before you go."
I nodded. "Sure, Sir."
"Good. You need to do it quickly. He will be here any minute now."
I nodded, walking over to rinse off the mild dust on the comfy black leather sofa set and a glass table between them. They were the pretty old model set but still managed to satisfy the beauty. Our principal preferred keeping simple things which didn't scream rich, he loathed the word modern. I wasn't sure why I never asked him either since I wasn't much close to him during my time of working here.
But one thing didn't sit well with me. On what purpose was the Alpha Lucas visiting the land? Well, if I see the past record of the visitors, he never visited our school before. That means this was his first time. Was he really that busy?
"Mr D'Arco. Can I know why Alpha Lucas is visiting now out of all times, we didn't even vacant the area?"
"Apparently, Alpha Lucas has never visited the land due to the pack stuff he had to attend and he wants to give us a 'thank you for cooperating' visit." He chuckled before continuing, "Also he wants me to sign no objection certificate."
"Is it necessary? This land is not even ours."
"It's not, but just making sure that we are fine with the decision and won't create any disturbance in future."
I nodded taking in his point. But doesn't it sound weird? He bought the land and doesn't even know how it looks. What a weird Alpha, I wonder why he is even a leader of werewolves of our entire country?
The ringing of the principal's phone caught my ears as he attended to the person on the other line.
"Alright, Sir. I'll be there in a minute Sir." He waited for the person on the other line to finish then said, "Fine, Sir."
He pushed the phone down in his breast pocket, signalling me he was going to fáilte our guest(s). He didn't bother to wait for my reply as he hurried out of the door. I puffed out a breath realising that there was nothing to hold me back in this soon-to-be destroyed school.
The silence in the room was suffocating a bit, nothing was reaching to my ears. I guess it was a cue for me to leave for good.
I reached out to pull down the cylindrical lever lock when the particular something stopped me. My eyes widened in shock as I softly brought the back of my right-hand parallel to my face. The ring—the red ruby was dimly glowing, brightening its colour with every passing moment. My breath quickened its pace.
I knew this. I knew what the ring meant. I knew the reason for it's glowing. But the challenging issue was me. I wanted to move but my body disobeyed me, It just continued staring at the ring.
Skylar's words whispered in my ears again.
"Do not panic when you find him."
"Take slow deep breaths and calm yourself, but don't waste time on it."
"Keep the goggles with you all the time. Use it when you feel him around."
And I obliged to what she said.
