Everything—until now—went on a fast pace, from the day when I first found him till now when I perceived his true colours.
Someone was true, we should not judge someone by its cover, we should take a peek inside before concluding anything. A smiling face can hide so many vicious smirks.
The thought of Lucas smirking evilly in his head whenever he found me blushing craved my fists to scratch my head, desperately getting rid of the thought. It could be possible, but admitting was impossible.
Lucas betrayed me.
Getting used to those above three words would take centuries for me.
I sighed, closing the door of the jeep. I had returned to Sheryl's cottage guardedly from the clinic, it was a panic attack—not the first time to gape, I had suffered four panic attacks during my father's funeral. No one knew, not even Skylar. I thought I got over it, but I guess getting over a bad past meant learning from them not forgetting.
I regarded that consoling myself saying that it happened a very long time ago was solitarily a dense defence to run away and at this time it caught me really badly in its grasp. I was mentally still a toddler.
I wondered if Skylar was being used as the same by Jace, looking at him he didn't seem that type of a guy, but just a thought occurred of a possibility. You might've not thought about Lucas like that as well but look where that wrong observation brought me.
I took Sheryl's almost wrinkled hand, leading her to the exact location where I fainted yesterday. The thought of meeting him again felt uneasy, he let me go so easily. I mean why were we confronting again, he was strong enough to drag me along with him. What was his intention? Why did he want to meet again when he was capable of hauling me on his shoulder and driving me back to his pack? Was this how his principles worked? His pride must be the matter, he wanted to take me in my active state.
Lucas was there again in his black shirt and blue-washed jeans, muscles puffing out due to folded arms on his puffed chest. He relaxed his face when he saw me, and allayed smile alleviated his posture.
He stepped forward in care for me, I guess he hit his head hard somewhere. Didn't he know he could put this act on end now that I knew everything?
I furrowed my brows when he stood an arm's length. "What are you trying to do?"
He ceased, looking a bit confused. "Wh—"
"I know everything about you, you shouldn't bother now."
"Bother?" He raised a brow.
My eyes fell on Ava and Michael, their bruises.... it wasn't there. No, nothing. They looked all good and fit as they have freshly soaped up just now. My eyes went over to Sheryl but her sole concentration was on them and then it clicked with me that it might be their healing skills, another one of their magics. The effect of their healing was on a faster rate compared to humans, an advantage to avoid days of pain.
"Let Ava and Micheal come here," I command again like the other day.
Lucas tilted his head, observing me and the stern look on my face, I ain't letting it go. It took him a couple of minutes to finally blink in reality. He was a good actor, posing himself like an innocent in front of the paparazzi who must've followed him all the way here.
I saw the light of the cameras click behind the huge rocks, they were away with a good distance, I could only see their figures with cameras.
"Heaven, I don't know—"
"Pass them to us then we can talk."
Lucas signalled with his first two fingers to Jace reluctantly. Jace got into the action, removing their cuffs brutally as they cursed him, struggling to be free as soon as possible.
Today he was going to pay back his wrongs, he messed with me very badly and I wouldn't let this chance slip through my fingers. He had to pay.
Sheryl embraced her arms tight around Ava, sobbing on her shoulder as Ava soothed her back. She glanced at me and smiled, a genuine one.
Never thought this day would also come where I would have to see her smile at me—hell! I never thought I would help her.
Michael glanced at me but didn't say anything, the family took their minute savouring their moment.
Lucas had his eyes from the start. It still had an effect on me that would never wear off, the fear when my heart still pounded for him seemed like a problem—like some part of me wished that the Lucas I fell for hid somewhere in those honeys which glittered whenever they saw me.
I snapped back to reality. Right now, he showed me his bad side, which trashed my heart into pieces. Revenge bellowed in my head, the insane part of him controlling my senses.
"I don't get what you're trying to do," he said, innocently narrowing his eyes at me
I smirked.
"Which I should've done this yesterday itself."
"What?" He asked.
"I, Heaven Blaine, reject Lucas Anderson, as my mate."
A wave of harsh shock hit us and since I was human I only felt a jerk, but looking at Lucas it was pretty violent on him.
He staggered back a few steps, falling on his knees and clutching his heart, his face twisted into a wince, hissing in pain as he glanced back at me.
My eyes widened at his half-wolf face, my heart only thumped harder when I heard gasps from behind me. I bit the inside of my cheek as tears blurred my eyes, free-falling down the ground. Jace's eyes widened like they would rip out of their sockets anything.
I regretted my decision as soon as I said it, it couldn't be helped anyway. He did what he had to do and I responded the way I should have. It was the right thing to do, at least this would help his wicked ideas to control what he should've treasured the most.
Goodbye, Alpha Lucas.

I leisurely put my head on my intertwined hands on my knees, it was cold out here and drizzles had resulted in a decrease of the temperature low.
I sat on the steps on the front porch, beads of water constantly pelting my feet, but I bothered less about it.
The image of him howling in pain had refused to move away from my eyes, everywhere I see his image would pop out like a ghost. I managed to bring Ava and Michael back but left my heart to him.
Heaven, how are you?
Did you have your breakfast?
Do you feel pain anywhere?
Questions whispered in his voice as I moved my hands to ears, an attempt to close the mental harassment.
"Hey, you alright?"
I turned my head to look Ava as she sat beside, forwarding her hand a little watching the droplets fall on her slim long fingers.
I hiccuped, pushing away the water around my eyes.
"It's written on your face," a soft smile on her lips, staring ahead.
I rubbed my nose and turned my face away resting my head on my knees.
"Thank you," she said. "I understand how you're feeling, rejecting a mate is impossible."
"You are the last person I would share about anything." Continuous crying had hindered my voice as I hiccuped again.
She laughed amusingly. "Fine, don't talk. But I salute your braveness, after all, you punched an Alpha on his face."
I lifted my head to look up at him, she smiled down at me, her eyes held softness.
"Alph Lucas deserved it," she remarked. "He did so wrong to you."
"Don't remind me."
"But, will you tell me something?" She peculiarly requested, wrapping her hands around the bent legs.
"Depends on what you ask," I sniffed.
"When did you fall for him?"
I narrowed my eyes and snapped "What do you mean?"
She raised her hands in surrender. "I mean no harm. I just want to know if you felt your emotions change towards him in a day."
I fully turned towards her now. "Why do you ask?"
"Of course, he was behind your attention so might have used some magic on you." she chuckled.
"Magic?"
"Don't you know?" She seemed surprised. "Alpha Lucas is a half-witch."
"What!?" Unbelievable. This was what remained last on the list to shock me, I guess Lucas wanted me dead with the folded information which was revealed from outsiders.
He nodded her head. "Lucas' mother's a witch, I thought he might've used some spell on you to fasten the process."
I remembered the time when he told me about the full moon thing, that a human mate feels a pull towards her mate before a couple of days from the full moon. When I explained this to Ava she wrapped a hand around her mate and shook her head.
"A mate feels the attraction during the full moon, not before it. You got everything wrong, check the internet if you don't believe," she explained, pushing her brown hair behind her ear. "I guess he did use some spell on you."
Damn it, Lucas!
You messed it so bad.
