Chapter 35

The sound of something hitting hard—or put it like someone hitting something hard perked up my senses.

I gulped, moving my head away from the pillow I looked around the room, the moonlight hit the room through the window printing the window doors on the floor. I was sleeping when I heard a loud noise, fear rammed into my heart as I gripped my blankets tightly around my chest.

I got up, my feet thumping on the cold floor as I aimlessly moved forward, my fingers brushed the bedpost and immediately held it in my hand.

It happened so fast, a rough hand clipped around my mouth muffling my instant reaction. I tried to turn around and fight the person and trust me, I did everything in my power but the person was too strong. I realised it was a man when I touched his rough hand.

My eyes went black when a black cover was thrown on my face, preventing anything to come in my vision. I was hauled on the man's shoulder, his shoulder bone hit me like a needle in my stomach. I faintly heard the sound of the window opening and throwing us down to free fall on the ground. If I was allowed I would definitely shout but the man gagged me with a black cloth.

The man launched ahead when we safely hit the ground. The cold air hit my bare arms as I moved my head around, the guy held my hands, he was impossible.

Teras let my cheeks know they arrived, my muffled cries less than the amount of fear I was suffering.

Soon when the man felt he got to his right destination, he dropped me down, feeling the ground touch my feet. I stumbled on my feet just to be held in place by the man.

He turned me around softly and removed the black cover around my face, the moon showing it's down on the little open land surrounded by the trees. But what shocked my system more were the people waiting for me.

Skylar and Jace.

When I pivoted around to look at my kidnapper I felt my heart in my mouth.

"Gamma Mason," I whispered after he removed the cloth between my lips

He gave me an apologetic smile and moved back.

I felt a rough hand push my shoulder and a harsh slap whipped my face around.

God, it hurts.

Skylar was something right in front and I could already imagine a cheek flaming with its best colour.

"What the hell did you do?" She gritted her teeth.

I pushed a strand which came out of my pony behind my ear only to fall on my face again.

"Do you realise what much pain Aloha Lucas is going through right now. He will die at this rate." She bit her lip, restraining herself from slapping me again.

"You don't have any idea what he did to me," I said back with the same irritated tone.

"What?" Jace confusedly. "What did Alpha Lucas do?"

"Shouldn't you know better," I sneered at him. "For all I care, you must have used her like he was trying to do."

Jace fisted his hands, an incredulous look passed through Skylar's eyes.

"What did you say, use?"

"Alpha Lucas would never do that to you, he cares for you like no other," Gamma Mason said as if talking to a child. "I don't know what Sheryl fed you to go against us but Alpha Lucas would never do that to you."

I close my eyes for a moment in exasperation. "Of course, you guys will say this because you are his supporters. But Skyla let me tell you, these people are bad, they are just using you for the darn power for their project."

"What project?" She asked.

"They want to conquer the neighbouring country and for that those bastards of wolves you stick around are trying to use you and me for power," I spit the words like venom.

Jace growled, his eyes showed specs of gold. His wolf came out and Skylar took in charge of his anger and calmed him.

"Guys we should talk,". Gamma Mason told Sylar and Jace as if he just realized something. I blinked at him for a moment.

"Luna, please stay here. Give us a moment," he very politely spoke to me, guiding them to a corner but within my vision.

I wrapped my hands around my arms, it was hella cold since it poured down a while ago. My eyes stuck to the three figures as they spoke within themselves before returning back to me.

"Fine," Skylar said calmly and I frowned deeply. "Do what you please and think what your heart says. I'm only here to tell you that what you did was wrong but I guess the situation you went through must've been hard too."

"What are you trying to say?" I asked.

She sighed but Gramma Mason resolved my doubt instead. "She means that she won't bother you, it's your life but let me warn you those people are trying to play with your emotions, be careful. And when you think something's going the wrong concentrate on it and try to find it. If you need more help then take this."

Gamma Mason handed me a small black device with a visible button on it.

"Keep it in your pocket always, when you feel in danger press it. We'll be there."

"Don't tell me this is a tracking device." I scrutinized the unfamiliar thing in my hand.

"Tracking would be of no use, we know you will remain in that cottage," Jace said with a curt look, indicating the cottage at a visible distance via his eyebrow moment.

"I hope we see the day soon when you accept him back," Skylar said.

"Don't keep your hopes up."

"What are you doing here?"

The glass in my hand was about to fall when a wave of surprise shot me, I turned around holding the shirt on my chest.

Michael moved around the kitchen and opened the fridge taking a nameless cool drink, the sticker must have been torn from it.

"N-nothing just couldn't sleep," I said, chugging down the water.

I hadn't slept after the meeting Skylar, another night which I planned on spending the time in the kitchen like I always used to do when sleep wouldn't knock on my door.

Well, it reminded me of the time when Lucas and I spent the night speaking about our tough time together.

Ah! Don't remind me of that.

I want to forget him.

"It's around 3 you know, making your brain work at this time isn't good for your health," he said.

I washed the glass clean, placing it on the rack. "I don't care about it anymore."

He nodded with a soft smile on his face, I waved him a goodbye ready to cross the threshold when he stopped me.

"About Alpha Lucas, you shouldn't have rejected him," Micheal tried to correct me.

"Shouldn't you be happy instead?"

He sighed. "I mean, the rejection wasn't the right choice to make, it will affect you too."

"Let's not talk about it."

I opened my ponytail only to tie it back again neatly. I closed the door shut of my room, talking to myself how crazy the situation appeared.

Who did he think he was? Shouldn't he be happy that his only villain was going to die? He might either be telling me that because he lost his mate or he could try to grab my attention like how Lucas did. He would fail terribly.

The thought of falling in love with someone else was now far from my reach, it wasn't like I wanted it anyway. People do live their lives alone, even I'll manage. I wasn't a teenager anymore, I knew how to stand on my legs. I had lived my life alone, I would be okay to live the rest of it.
