CHAPTER 25: Research

Gabe was spending her lunch break in the library. She needed to research on ways for Togon to die, but it was impossible to use her own phone or laptop as they were installed with an antivirus and hacking software that also flagged down suspicious websites that she visited. Searching for ways to die would definitely be flagged and checked by her bodyguards. This was why she had no choice but to use the computer in the library for her research, so that they would not mistake her for being suicidal.

"Can you guys not stay so close? I feel weird with all of you staring at my screen," Gabe tried to shoo her bodyguards away.

"If that is what you feel, then we shall go and station ourselves at strategic points in the library to prevent any potential attacks," Max replied.

Once Gabe was sure that they were not looking, she typed into the search engine quickly: Painless ways to die.

The first thing that came out was a 24 hours hotline for troubled people to seek help from. Scrolling down the list, all she saw was articles trying to convince people that suicide was not the way. "I know, I know, I'm not suicidal. Just give me the proper results, please," She thought to herself as she scrolled. Finally, she spotted one that actually contained the information she searched for.

Actually, before she found this website, she was thinking of letting Togon die by consuming toxic chemicals. It was the only thing that she could think of that was the easiest for her to actually accomplish, without her bodyguards interfering. She even thought of how she and Togon could go to the chemistry lab after school on the pretense of conducting an experiment, and Togon could somehow secretly drink the chemicals on the chemical rack.

But she soon found out from the website that suicide by poison intake had the most number of survivals, and getting fatal results was challenging. Furthermore, the chemicals in her school science lab were all diluted for safety purposes. Even if Togon drank everything in the lab, it might not guarantee his death, and he would probably be having painful chemical reactions in his stomach. She didn't want anything to happen to Togon because of her. She decided that she was going to find another way.

Soon, she found a way to die almost painlessly: carbon monoxide inhalation. But where would she get the carbon monoxide? Maybe she could purchase it online. But her bodyguards would always check parcels that were delivered to her, in case they contained something dangerous. Would her bodyguards suspect something if they found a gas cylinder containing carbon monoxide delivered to her? They definitely would. She struck it off her list.

Next: Jumping off a building. Probably the easiest because lesser people would suspect them, especially with the close monitoring of her bodyguards. They could sneak out of her house in the middle of the night and finish it quickly, before her bodyguards had the chance to stop her. This was the best way so far.

Satisfied with her findings, she shut down the computer and stood up to leave.
