Chap 3: The people from her past life

Scene: Lin Family Home, Dining Room

Lin Family's Dining room is huge. The big dining table could site 12 people quite comfortably. Father Lin sat on the head table. At both of his sides are Ning Erlang and Lin Xiaowen. Sitting next to Xiaowen is Lin Shauran.

Qin Ran sat to her mother facing Lin Shauran.

These are the people who caused her so much heartbreak in the past life. Right now, all she felt was indifference. She hasn't seen and sat at the same table with these people together for more than 20 years. When Lin Xiaowen married Qin Ran's first love, she was 21 years old and Qin Ran was 22. Both just graduated from university. That day, she decided to cut ties with the family. She went to M County and never came back.

Right now, they will be talking about enrolling her in Wen Dei Highschool, an elite high school.

"Qin Ran, starting Monday, you will be attending Wen Dei Highschool. I have talked to Director Di and he had admitted you. Report to his office when you go to school and he will tell you which class you will be assigned." Father Lin said.

"Xiaowen is in the Special Class, Class S due to her academic grades in middle school. Your grades are not bad but who knows what they are amounting to here in the city so don't expect that you will be assigned to the class with Xiaowen." Her mother said bluntly.

Her mother's words used to cut her heart like a knife. But right now, Qin Ran doesn't care at all. But of course, she can't show too much indifference so she quietly nodded and said softly "I understand."

Father Lin looked at her with some approval. Something he didn't show before. Her reaction in her last life when her mother told her this was not obedient at all. Her grandma doted on her and was never aggrieved with anything. Qin Ran really thought that her mother would treat her the same way. That was why when she heard such words before the clearly showed disdain towards her background, she showed a sulking expression and bitterly replied ��How would you know I wouldn't be as good as Xiaowen."

This earned her a bad impression from Father Lin as how dare she compare with the Lin Missy. Now, she will never compare. After 26 years away from this family, she found her own identity. And while she is now back to her 16-year- old-self, she already grew up and she will never participate in the drama this family had.

Father Lin nodded "Good that you understand. Take time to adapt to the city life. Study hard. The Lin family will do you no wrong."

Inside her mind, Qin Ran sneered. Yes, indeed, the Lin Family will do her no wrong; because no matter how they will trample her heart, they are still right. For she had no right to compete with Xiaowen in any way, may it appearance or academic, in love and in life, Qin Ran was deemed to be mediocre.

She looked at Lin Xiaowen. Her graceful movement as she ate the vegetables on her plate. Indeed her sister is a beauty. She herself was a beauty. But all her vanity was wiped clean when she is beside her half-sister. Not because she is inferior in appearance, but because she was not allowed to shine. Only when she moved to County M did she realized she was beautiful. But by then, her heart already turned cold.

Even now, she can't feel anything. She didn't even mind Lin Xiaowen didn't even utter a word of welcome nor cast her a look. It's alright. She is fine this way.

She is even looking forward to living again. This time, she won't waste any emotion with insignificant people such as the Lin family, her mother, her father, and especially Xu Junyen.

Qin Ran knows that she will be fine.

With this thought in mind, she looked down and started eating her food. She didn't notice the thoughtful look Lin Shauran is casting her way. Who cares about this stepbrother of hers who was always away from home? As a University student in Beijing at this time, Lin Shauran is already starting his gaming company. He had the least involvement in the family drama. But his actions were the most decisive that caused the total break up between her and Xu Junyen.

Ah, thinking about Xu Junyen, she knows she will see the 17-year-old Xu Junyen again. But she has no plan of even approaching this person. She won't go through that drama again.
