She Looks Familiar

Ordering the soldier to draw the painting of the lieutenant, Xuan Yueji became surprised as the features were more pronounced. At first, he thought that since the soldier was not done drawing the portrait, that was why he thought it looked strangely familiar. However, by the time the soldier finished, he had already closed his eyes with a pounding headache that caused him to want to fall to the ground.

With beautiful white hair and silver eyes, the only difference was the blue crystal imprint on the forehead. She wore a set of white and silver armor, looking just like a war goddess. Unlike a human, she seemed to come from the heavens with an aura of light that surrounded her as though the sun was embracing her.

Lightly taking heavy breaths to cause no suspicions, Xuan Yueji asked, "When did she go missing?"

"That… about ten years ago…" the shuzhu said.

"Ten years ago?" Xuan Yueji repeated with a deep silence following after.

Ten years ago, Bai Shuixian should have been at the White Tiger Forest. She could not have been in Yuezhong, how could that be? Also, the priests would have recognized her if she was the lieutenant.

Just what is going on? Could it be that his memories were wiped out ten years ago? But that could not be true since Lu Lianhua has all of his memories.

It was not only Lu Lianhua but also the other four personas. This was too confusing. Just what is going?

Seeing that Xuan Yueji had gone silent after his answer, the shuzhu carefully called out, "Shuzhu?"

Staring at the shuzhu, Xuan Yueji stated, "You guys can stop looking for your lieutenant."

Surprised, the shuzhu asked a question which every soldier also thought about, "Why is that? Is there something wrong? Does Shuzhu recognize our lieutenant?"

With a serious voice that did not allow for disobedience, Xuan Yueji said, "So what if I know your lieutenant? Do not have people searching for her again. It is better that you do not expose that she is missing either. This is not a suggestion or advice. It is an order. Remember this."

When Chuangzhu Xiong was about to speak up in protest, Xuan Yueji turned to him with a scary glare that pierced him and said, "I dare you to spread this around. You won't live to see your son."

Hearing the threat in Xuan Yueji's voice, Chuangzhu Xiong did not continue to try to exert his force anymore and just stayed silent. At the same time, resentment grew in him, especially when hearing the threat to his son. He felt like Xuan Yueji was insulting his son by threatening him with his son.

With a bitter voice, Chuangzhu Xiong thought in his mind, "Just wait! One day, Grand Advisor Chen won't be protecting you anymore! When the day comes, you'll be the pedestal for my son to stand on!"

Xuan Yueji did not know Chuangzhu Xiong had those thoughts in his mind, but even if he did, he would not really give it any care. There was no possible way that someone from this continent could threaten him. Even if he was too weak to take care of them, there was still Chi Dujuan, Yu Lanhua, Tou Juhua, and Lu Lianhua.

He did not dare to mention Bai Shuixian because she had too many secrets. Xuan Yueji did not know what the past history was like, nor what the present history was. He only knew that there were many things of which he did not know and things that Lu Lianhua did not know.

Lu Lianhua already told him that he detected Bai Shuixian's presence on the spell, but it seemed he did not detect it in the barracks. This meant that other things were happening that none of them could detect. Xuan Yueji felt that the mystery for Yuezhong was getting bigger, but he could not investigate too deeply.

One reason was that like Lu Lianhua had warned, Bai Shuixian should not come to Yuezhong. She did not have memories of her past life aside from the one in which she died previously. Not only that, she could activate any part of the spell even if she did nothing because no one knew what she had done to the center.

Secondly, they were only personas and not an actual distinguished soul that possessed its own body. If one day Bai Shuixian were to merge with them, she would gain their memories. The possibility that she would try to investigate her own cases would cause too much trouble and unintended dangers along the way of which could threaten her weak self.

Lastly, Lu Lianhua had said before that Bai Shuixian was millions of years old, but that she retained no memories of it, is all. Another thing to note was that there was chaos in the dimension not too long ago and this was how he was formed. Xuan Yueji knew that there were much more secrets, but Lu Lianhua had already stated that he did not know anymore, so there was a stop there.

There were just too many secrets and mysteries that were related to Bai Shuixian, but they could not investigate. They had to find another willing human that was powerful enough to do the investigating for them. However, Xuan Yueji wanted to find someone loyal, trustworthy, and especially, powerful.

All of his thoughts and conclusions at this moment had already been heard and seen by Lu Lianhua. Honestly, Lu Lianhua did not understand why Bai Shuixian would ever become a lieutenant for a human army, but this was not the most important question to him. Instead, he was more focused on the question about why Bai Shuixian appeared ten years ago when she was clearly and definitely in the White Tiger Forest.

Before leaving to take care of Bai Shuixian again, Lu Lianhua left a message for Xuan Yueji, "Make sure no one leaks this. Xiao Xian is about to enter the capital. Before leaving, get rid of all disturbances."

Xuan Yueji did not give a reaction to what Lu Lianhua told him outwardly, but inwardly, he already decided on a plan of execution. First, he would deal with the soldiers. Then, he would deal with the townspeople.

His final action would be to gather information about the lieutenant and make sure no one knew about her existence. Xuan Yueji did not know if the lady that the soldier drew was truly and really Bai Shuixian, but it was better to make sure. Also, if it was really not her, Lu Lianhua would have already known.

With a perfect plan in his head, Xuan Yueji asked, "What was her name?"

Grinning uglily, Chuangzhu Xiong said, "He, wow… You know her, but you don't know her name? Are you lying because you just don't know how to find her?"

A lot of the soldiers stared at Xuan Yueji with expectancy on what he would reply with. Maybe Chuangzhu Xiong was not speaking trash but words of truth? But what if there was truly a secret plot that Xuan Yueji actually knew that was secretive and mysterious?

Glaring at Chuangzhu Xiong, Xuan Yueji said with a deathly tone, "I naturally know her name, but… who's to know that she did not change her name when she knew me? Also, lying? Ha, even if I lied, what does it matter? What I do with her has nothing to do with a mere chuangzhu like you."

Although angry, Chuangzhu Xiong did not speak more. There had been too many times when Xuan Yueji overpowered him with his voice. Other times with his stares, and sometimes when he slowly walks towards him with a threatening aura.

"A coward like you dares to speak against me," Xuan Yueji scoffed. "Watch out for yourself. Don't get too arrogant. Your achievements have not even reached the realm of which your father has, yet you already treat people like animals."

Everyone heard the horrible words that Xuan Yueji said, but did not try to side with Chuangzhu Xiong. In fact, he was not such a bad man in the military, but they did not know his family life. Who is to say that he does not have multiple wives and such?

Besides, home is the basis of life. Home represented how well someone behaved, financial status, and much more. They only knew what Chuangzhu Xiong was like in the military, but not at home so they could not help defend him since they were not well acquainted with him.

(A/N: I created the idiom "home is the basis of life". Do you guys like it? I think it fits well with how your house represents how you are as a person. For example, you know how a person actually is by seeing their living room looking like a pig pen, but they have lots of papers around.)

In fact, they did not even know if the orders to find the missing lieutenant were actually legitimate. The news of the missing lieutenant were kept secret for so long that it was strange that Chuangzhu Xiong would suddenly come at such a time to say that he would be replacing the missing lieutenant. How come they did not question that at all?

Turning to the shuzhu, Xuan Yueji stared at him with a pose that stated he wanted the answer to his question. With a condescending look, he scared the shuzhu, though he had no intentions to. It was only that he was questioned too many times by the Xiong family.

Truly, the younger generations were rash and stupid. The millennials were behaving as though they were the wisest people on earth and arrogant. Xuan Yueji sighed at the thoughts that he had of the current generations in the existing continent.

Talking to General Xiong, Xuan Yueji had a much more peaceful time, so he started to lean towards the opinion that old people were easier to talk to. Even with his abundance of social life, he still had opinions of such a thing despite knowing that it clearly depended on the environment a person grew up in. Of course, another variable was to be considered, but nobody was able to guess the human heart of which was unfathomable.

Although weak to the deep gaze of Xuan Yueji, the shuzhu managed keep his head up and answer, "Her name is Hong..."
