Hong What?

At the long pause of the shuzhu, Xuan Yueji frowned and asked, "Hong what?"

Giving Xuan Yueji a wry look, the shuzhu apologized, "I am deeply sorry, Shuzhu. It seems we were never told her full name."

"What do you mean?" Xuan Yueji questioned with a deepening frown.

"This… We have always addressed her as Lieutenant Hong," the shuzhu said.

Seeing that the shuzhu was tongue tied, another soldier walked out from their ranks and explained, "Lieutenant Hong never told us her full name and even when she came, she only told us her surname. When one of us asked for her first name, she forced us to train for three days straight. All of us decided to stop asking for her personal information from then on. Not only that, she was like Shuzhu."

Turning to the soldier who was explaining the problem to him, Xuan Yueji asked, "Like me? How?"

Staring Xuan Yueji up and down, the soldier said, "Lieutenant wore beautiful silk clothes that even the royal family could not get with special embroidered designs like Shuzhu. Lieutenant also wore a mask that covered her entire face like Shuzhu. The only exception is that Lieutenant Hong liked to wear red more than the black color that Shuzhu is wearing."

Putting his hand on his chin, Xuan Yueji started thinking in his mind, "Hm… This must definitely be Xiao Xian. There's nobody that can get the same fabric as me since this was handmade by Tou Juhua. Chi Dujuan also likes to wear red, too."

"Alright, I understand," Xuan Yueji said in reply. "Does anyone know about her existence?"

Chuangzhu Xiong then looked at Xuan Yueji as though he was an idiot. How could nobody not know about a lieutenant? Even if she was just a lieutenant, she was still useful and powerful enough that people would know about her.

Even if she was not known by the entire empire, she would be known by the towns and cities nearby. Chuangzhu Xiong laughed in his mind while joking about the idiocy of Xuan Yueji. If only he knew that there were multiple mysteries in the world that could escape the emperor's sights.

Ignoring the gleeful state of Chuangzhu Xiong, Xuan Yueji asked again with an angry tone that was not super aggressive, "Did you guys not hear my question?"

Another soldier quickly stood out from their ranks and answered, "We heard, Shuzhu. We heard. It's just that… Nobody knows about Lieutenant Hong."

Then, one more soldier left their ranks and said with a face that stated he did not understand something, "Truly, no one in the town knows about Lieutenant Hong. The only people that know about her are us. For some reason, it seems that though people have met Lieutenant Hong, they forget about her immediately after."

The shuzhu standing awkwardly on the stage then contributed, "Yes, that's right. Lieutenant once told me back then that she did not like having people stare at her, so she would erase their memories of her."

Hearing this statement, Xuan Yueji was more than assured that the person he had in mind was Bai Shuixian. However, this also filled him with questions. The only person that he knew in the dimension that had the ability to erase memories was Tou Juhua.

Did this mean that there were secrets that Tou Juhua knew, but did not tell them? How can that be? As they all served one goal and were created by the same person, it was unlikely that she would keep a secret from them.

Could it be that this happened during the chaotic era that Lu Lianhua told him about? Since each person's skills derived from the creator, that means that Bai Shuixian could also have the power to erase memories, but he just did not know. However, Xuan Yueji could only sigh since he could not come to a conclusion even after all the thinking he did.

"Forget it," Xuan Yueji silently sighed out. "We'll know when the time comes. For now, it's safer and better to just stay here. Xiao Xian still needs to recover from her previous life anyhow."

Since nobody knew about the lieutenant, but the soldiers in the 17th regiment, Xuan Yueji was reassured that no one would know about the existence of her. Though, he had a few trust issues, so he still decided to erase their memories of her. Perhaps, this was also what happened to the priests.

After all, they were able to clearly remember the appearance of Bai Shuixian. The only thing was that they addressed her with a different identity, a stranger and newcomer, instead of a lieutenant. Of course, the words that the priests mentioned to him about the man that brought the statue still bothered him, but he would not put it to importance since it seemed like the person was not a threat but a supporter.

"Will it affect the regiment if you have no lieutenant?" Xuan Yueji asked after coming to a conclusion.

"Not at all," the shuzhu answered. "We have been doing fine with the techniques taught to us by Lieutenant Hong."

"I see," Xuan Yueji said while thinking that he had to erase the memories of the soldiers, especially Chuangzhu Xiong.

That man was such a bother, just like his son. Xuan Yueji wondered how General Xiong gave birth to such pitiful sons as a successful man with a beautiful wife. No longer thinking about the bothersome person though, he called out for Tou Juhua.

"What is it?" Tou Juhua spoke with annoyance.

Leaving the stage and hiding on a tree in a hidden area with no people, Xuan Yueji said while coughing to calm his nervous self, "I need you to erase some people's memories."

"Are you crazy? Why would you want me to do that? Do you even know the repercussion?" Tou Juhua scolded him.

Truly, Xuan Yueji expected her to start lecturing him the moment he asked her this. Tou Juhua had a tough exterior, but a soft interior. To put it simply, she was someone who seemed mean and cold on the outside, but she was actually a kind person on the inside that really cared about others.

"Ah… I think I know them… I think," Xuan Yueji weakly said with a small nervous smile.

Sighing at the weak expression of Xuan Yueji, Tou Juhua said, "Do you understand that by erasing someone's memories, you can alter their personalities and possibly change their future? Do you know at all that this is against heaven rules?"

"Uh… This is against heaven rules?" Xuan Yueji repeated her words with an inquiry.

Though wanting to stare at Xuan Yueji with a glare, Tou Juhua could not since she could not get out of the body, so she could only strengthen her tone and strictly state, "By erasing someone's memories, it is almost the same as altering it. It is against heaven's laws for we are messing with the human fates."

Hearing that, Xuan Yueji asked, "Hua Hua, do you remember anything from ten years ago?"

"What are you trying to say? Just spit it out," Tou Juhua spoke out the moment he finished asking his question.

Coughing once again with nervous nerves, Xuan Yueji said, "Well… I learned not too long ago that Xiao Xian was in this town ten years ago…"

"You clearly know where we were ten years ago," Tou Juhua said with a tone that stated, "Is it not obvious? Why are you even asking?"

"I know… I know where we were… But I don't understand. There's just something…" Xuan Yueji sighed before continuing, "It's just that there's something about this town that reeks of danger to me."

"And that's why you want me to erase some people's memories?" Tou Juhua asked.

Slumping his shoulders, Xuan Yueji nodded, "Yes. I know where we all were ten years ago, but somehow… Xiao Xian was here. In this town. In this forest. I don't know how she got here. However, she managed to come here and conceal the center of the spell and change the dynamics of the dam."

"Ten years ago… Hm…" Tou Juhua started to think about things that happened ten years ago that could have some clues.

"There seems to be nothing of importance ten years ago. In fact, Xiao Xian was still just a little girl with little to no ability to even survive on her own," Tou Juhua stated. "It would be impossible for her to be able to know how to change the spell."

"Is there any way that she could have learned how to erase memories a long time ago? Or maybe regain some memories of her past?" Xuan Yueji asked.

"Hm… There's no way," Tou Juhua answered. "She couldn't have learned how to erase memories at such a young age. Also, if she did regain some portion of her memories, all of us would know since the dimension would change. You have to remember that the dimension was originally not a place for us to live in, but a storage. We only came here because we are parts of her soul that could not be merged into her, the main possessor."

"It seems… I have forgotten about that," Xuan Yueji mumbled with a wry smile.

"It is not your fault," Tou Juhua changed her tone. "Nobody could have foreseen the chaos. Not only that, your soul is unstable, and so is Xiao Xian's soul. Just take care of yourself and don't cause any harm to yourself."

"I understand," Xuan Yueji said as he looked down on the ground that was meters below the branch he was standing on.

It seemed he could erase someone's memories simply as he wanted. This raised more questions. If there were repercussions, then what were they and how serious were they?

Tou Juhua had asked him about it, but she did not tell them to him which meant that they were serious enough for her to keep secret about. If Bai Shuixian did decide to erase people's memories, then why did she do it despite the heavy repercussions that could possibly harm her? What happened before the chaotic era that caused him to become unstable?
