Piercing Eye

Although receiving multiple warnings by Lu Lianhua, Xuan Yueji decided to head to the dam. He was sure that nothing would happen like suggested because he had already been there before. The result was that nothing happened and even when he was in the perimeter just looking on for a long time, nothing happened.

Xuan Yueji was confident that nothing could go wrong. Though, he knew that confidence was worth nothing in the face of nature and magic, so he decided to change his clothes. He had a robe that was made by Tou Juhua that was resistant to spells and could hide his presence.

Though Xuan Yueji did not know if it would hide the presence of Bai Shuixian, he felt that as long as he was hidden, it should be fine. The little girl was also asleep so her presence should not be noticed by the center or the spell anyhow. Besides, they were of one body, so he refused to believe that he would cause anything to happen at the location of the dam.

When Xuan Yueji reached the dam, his first action was to look around the place. There was still debris left over and materials placed in some places as the dam was not yet finished being reconstructed. This did not destroy his plans as seeing the natural land as how it first started was better than seeing a modified place.

Seeing that there was almost nothing of importance but the way how the dam was built, Xuan Yueji went closer to the construction itself. However, he made sure that he touched none of the material. Even if he could guess how fragile the building was, he did not want to mess with the spell since he had knowledge of its existence.

There was a saying, "The unknowing is unguilty." There was also another saying, "The unknowing is prone to accidents." There was another saying that could fit Xuan Yueji's case, "The knowing is more aware."

(A/N: I think they exist. Lol I don't know for sure. I just wanted something that would match what I wanted.)

If Xuan Yueji did not investigate the dam after learning about the spell, he would have carelessly searched around or walked around. However, he had Lu Lianhua that gave him multiple warnings. Without him, maybe he would have destroyed the dam without knowing, or even the spell that could have caused a catastrophe to the empire.

Continuing to look around, Xuan Yueji saw that nothing of importance could be found. At the same time, it could be that he had no magical sensory like Lu Lianhua so he found nothing. No matter, he planned to come back again when the site was done being fixed up for he was sure that something important was here.

It was not something that Xuan Yueji could prove with facts, but it was his instincts. Throughout the world, the number one thing they would say is to "trust your instincts." He had always trusted his instincts and managed to come out alive after a battle, so he was sure that his guess about the dam holding something of significance must be correct.

Although Xuan Yueji's instincts were mostly based on survival things such as life and death, he still trusted them when it came to investigations. If he did not trust them, he would not have been a good commander, nor would he have been able to find evidence that went against people. Of course, he was just bragging about this though.

Xuan Yueji never liked to investigate anything and even if he did, it was mostly about things related to wars such as ambushes and such. However, there was once a time that he did like to investigate and even sacrifice his body for it. Though, the reason why he was so willing was because of Bai Shuixian though.

In order to let the young girl escape from her family, Xuan Yueji hid in hidden corners and spots to spy on Bai Deming. Being young and small, he was able to keep a weak attitude and let the old man bully him. With it, he managed to grab all kinds of news that could destroy the entire clan.

However, Xuan Yueji did not immediately try to think of a way to get the news to the public. At the time, he had an instinctual feeling that there was more news that could condemn the clan into eternal negativity. When he started plotting, his plans were to make sure that everyone in the clan could die and not be able to escape the death punishment.

Something that Xuan Yueji would normally have spent just a day or a few days on took him over a month to get the satisfactory result. Bai Deming, Chen Shi, and even Chang Xianling would not have expected that the document he made came from the memories of his past life. With precision, he wrote down every experience he experienced at the training grounds and every abuse he witnessed while sitting behind the eyes of Bai Shuixian.

Walking closely near the river, Xuan Yueji also saw nothing under the water. He had made a guess that something could be found in the water, but there was almost nothing he could see with his Piercing Eye, so he walked back to the green grassy area. Just like Lu Lianhua, he also used his powers to try and find something of significance with no results.

As his final attempt, Xuan Yueji had even used his Piercing Eye, but there was still no result. His Piercing Eye was a weapon that Yu Lanhua had forged for him to be put in his eye. It had many abilities, but they were so powerful that he barely used it and only used the small side effects that came with it.

The Piercing Eye had an ability in which it could see anything magical such as an ancient artifact. However, though it was powerful, just like all things in the world, it had a con. Whenever Xuan Yueji wanted to use it, the Piercing Eye would glow a bright golden color and as long as someone was near, they could see it.

If no one was nearby and nobody was looking at his right eye, then it would be fine. The thing was that if somebody did manage to see it, they would want the Piercing Eye. It was the Piercing Eye for it brought out the most fore and front emotion and want of a human, but only the negative and ugly side.

Not only that, the Piercing Eye manipulated the human that had looked at it to follow it. According to Yu Lanhua, Xuan Yueji should be able to use the eye to manipulate the eye. However, since he went through the chaotic era, he lost the ability somehow.

Yu Lanhua stated herself that she did not know why Xuan Yueji was affected in such a way so he did not ask her anymore questions after finding out that the eye was uncontrollable. Though he could not control its full potential anymore, it was not as though he planned to use it much. It was too powerful and he felt that the people of this continent did not need to witness the power of the Piercing Eye.

(A/N: I was going to write something else, but I forgot what I wanted to write. It probably sounds awkward, but just deal with it. Lol I can't fix something I don't remember.)

Since Xuan Yueji could not find anything useful, he started to speed back to the capital. Even if nothing could be found now, he thought that as long as he waited something would pop up out of nowhere. It was a conclusion he made because it was how life worked.

When going back, Xuan Yueji had only one thought, "Even if nothing appears now, something will appear in ten years' time. Even if not ten years, a century should be enough. No matter if nothing appears in a century though, I can wait a thousand-no… even a million years."

For Xuan Yueji, Bai Shuixian was the most important person to him. Being immortal as he was, it did not matter how long he had to wait. After all, a million years was only a little bit of his entire lifetime, just like how it was for Lu Lianhua.

Another thought Xuan Yueji had while speeding back to the capital was, "Let's never come back to Yuezhong. Not until Xiao Xian has regained her memories…"

By the time Xuan Yueji landed on the castle walls of the capital, another situation had appeared in Yuezhong. People were screaming, many were running north at full speed, and many were grabbing the most essential items from their houses. Panic was everywhere and the only ones who knew were the ones experiencing it.

It was untold when Xuan Yueji would know about this tragedy that would occur. However, the pain of which he would feel when hearing it would not happen until Bai Shuixian had long awakened. Until she could finally return to the capital and get another chance to cherish memories with Su Guang once again.
