I waited for Soren's response patiently. Ethan called my name trying to draw me into their conversation.
"What?" I cocked my head at them.
"You were thinking about buying some equipment," Ethan looked at me intently.
"Listening in on my thoughts again?" I straightened my head out.
"Do you have any idea how hard I have to focus just to hear your surface thoughts?" Ethan frowned, "Yeah I was listening in. You've been thinking about it all week on, and off. What do you want to get?"
"You two need proper armor, and weaponry," I brushed off Ethan's spying since I was technically spying on his emotional state constantly, "Plus we need one of those scanners to determine which tiers beasts are in. I'd prefer one of the more advanced ones so that we'll get an idea of what the beasts we'll be facing are capable of."
"Do you have any idea how expensive one of those scanners are?" Savannah looked at me with a stunned look, "One of the cheaper ones will run you a million credits. The kind of scanner you're thinking of can cost ten times that."
"Armor, and weapons come first," I snorted, "The schools weaponry is kind of a joke. I want you two to be able to take a hit or two in an emergency."
"How are we going to pay for it?" Savannah raised her voice so she was almost shouting.
"By selling some deadly poison that's really hard to get," I smirked, "I don't like selling my venom, but I can't keep being squeamish about it, and we need the equipment. Especially if we plan to split off from the military in the near future."
"You want to split off from the military?" Savannah looked more startled by this statement than the fact that I wanted to outright buy her equipment, "What do you mean split off from the military?"
"Look at me Savannah," I snapped, "You really think that they'll let me live once they find out what I am? Leaving will be my safest option. It'll be everyone's safest option."
"No," Savannah stammered, "I'm sure we can convince the military of how useful you'll be on our side."
"You have too much confidence in human nature," I snorted, "Human's aren't generous enough to just let an unknown force exist unless it's too powerful for them to get rid of." I shrugged, "Besides it's not like I'm going to leave forever. Earth is my home. One of these days I'll be strong enough to come back. Strong enough to keep them in check."
"But I can't just leave," Savannah still had that shaken expression on her face.
"You don't have to," I adjusted how I was laying, "Our bond won't go away just because we've been separated. It just won't get stronger."
"We can't even try to convince them," Savannah frowned.
"It's a waste of time," I felt the tip of my tail ticking back and forth in agitation at the thought of leaving her behind, "Convincing them as a group is impossible. Just think about the way you reacted when you saw me the first time, and I was smaller then."
Savannah dropped her eyes guiltily when she remembered her own reaction to seeing my dragon form the first time. I didn't want to leave her behind but if she refused to leave then I wouldn't have a choice. I knew she could feel my agitation, and that just made her feel worse. My body tensed as the urge to stretch my wings flitted through me. I dropped my head slowly.
I was starting to feeling somewhat tired.
"I still think it would be best for me to buy you both armor," I smiled toothily, "Even if it isn't the best armor. Just something to keep you from getting hurt badly. You can pay me back later if you want."
Ethan had already retrieved the vails, and didn't see much of a problem with what I wanted. Savannah looked at me angrily.
"I'm sure we can convince them," Savannah argued weakly.
"Ask Goliath how well that would go for me before you do anything stupid," I let Ethan help me fill vails.
He's bought special gloves just to help me with this kind of thing. He'd gotten a lecture for spending money on ridiculous things, but he wouldn't let me pay him back anyways. I expected more argument from Ethan but he knew I wouldn't be changing my mind on this one. Savannah's bond to me was weaker so she wasn't able to get the general idea of my line of thought. Ethan had full access to my emotional state, and could catch my surface thoughts.
Although he needed to focus more than I did to access my thoughts. It wasn't difficult for me to block them out either. Our bond was a little one sided this way, but I was beginning to think that was for my own sanity. Having three sets of emotions whirling around in my head could give me a headache sometimes when we were all feeling something different. They could only feel my emotional state, but I could feel everyone's.
Strong emotions could also effect my own emotional state. Throwing my mind off balance. Then there was the severe reaction I had whenever someone touched one of my bonded. Their pain turned to rage once it hit me. My wings twitched as I finished filling a tenth vial.
For the first time ever I was out of venom. I was actually kind of stunned that twenty ounces was all my venom glands could hold.
Venomous skill level up. Venomous level 3. Venomous sub skill unlocked. User can now hold more than one type of poison in venom gland.
