Ethan was the first one to reach me. He tried to pick up my head. I could feel his exhaustion through our bond, but mine completely overwhelmed any other emotional feedback I got from him. I smiled at them all as I dropped my head to the ground to sleep. The next time I woke up I was back in the town.
My body hurt so I tried not to move. I inhaled slowly, and painfully before exhaling calmly. Ethan rushed toward me as soon as I realized I was awake.
{Are you okay?} Ethan asked mentally.
{You've been practicing,} I smirked.
{You weren't looking all that great when we brought you back,} Ethan rested his forehead against my own.
{I wasn't feeling that great when I got back,} I lifted my head despite the pain I was in.
It felt like my mana had recovered so I could get rid of the damage that had been done to me. I cast Restore on myself, and light pulsed out from my chest. Undoing all the damage that had been done to me in an instant. It was an expensive spell when I first got it, but now it was all to easy to cast it. I kind of wished that I'd had this spell when I'd been getting my ass handed to me before.
It required me to focus too much for me to cast on the fly. I flapped my freshly healed wings. It was too slow to take my feet off the ground, but it was enough to make me feel the joy of having wings again. I stood up slowly, and stretched leisurely.
{If you could just do that then why didn't you do that from the beginning?} Ethan raise a brow at me as he looked up at me.
"Don't look at me like that," I snorted sparks, "I didn't have enough mana to use it last night."
"You're awake," Samson walked up to me with Savannah in step next to him.
Jax looked at me from further away. Seemingly a bit upset that he'd had to be put through my pain in the first place. I didn't think he was such a baby, but I didn't really care. It was time to check on my notifications now that things seemed to have settled down. I stretched leisurely.
Wait. Had that creature died? The water one.
"Did a water beast wash up on the beach recently?" I looked down at Samson.
"The thing that did all that to you?" Samson nodded to me, "We haven't seen it. It must be quite powerful to rip you to shreds."
I checked my notifications. I scanned through them quickly. I only had four. One was about completing the wolf quest. The reward I'd gotten from the wolves was quite good.
I'd earned the loyalty of the pack, and five stat points. Granted a title among the wolves as an honorary pack member, and referred to as the kind of carnage. Hard to believe wolves thought of that as a good thing. My wrath activating, and deactivating. Then there was the final notification.
I'd gained the light affinity. I inhaled slowly, and released a slow breath. It glittered like white sparkles in the sunlight, and the three the light fell upon looked a little surprised as energy coursed through them.
"I've been trying to do that all week," I purred slightly giving off a threatening rumble despite my internal joy, "Now." My mood turned serious, "It's time to get rid of the rest of the pests that made it to this island."
I stood up, and crouched casually. Inviting my bonded to come with. Ethan jumped up willingly. Savannah reached up so Ethan could help her up. They'd been spending a lot of time together lately.
Maybe they're developing a thing for each other. I jumped up on the wall as lithe as a cat, and looked out into the forest. A self satisfied hiss made it through my teeth. Scanning through the forest with my infrared allowed me to pick out the remaining poisonous lizards so I could go after them myself. I found two of the centaur creatures close to each other.
{I found something the two of you can have,} I snorted in irritation, {I'm going to snack on the last few poisonous lizards. Then the wolves can save the rest for hunting.}
{You can't just eat something that's poisonous} Savannah answered.
Her words were a bit spaced out, and shaky, but she'd clearly been putting in an effort.
{Their poison can't harm me,} I smirked {I'm already immune to it.}
{We're not letting you fight something poisonous by yourself,} I got the feeling that Savannah would cross her arms in a my word is final kind of way if she wasn't clinging to my back right now.
I smirked at her determination, and thought back on something I'd discovered after I found out my venomous skill had become a bloodline ability. I'd become capable of producing antivenoms for the venoms I'd been exposed to. I'd been exposed to the lizards poison so I should be able to render the venom harmless to them for a short while by injecting it straight into their veins. I leaned down to Ethan first, and extended my hollow venomous fangs. Some of my other teeth poked out, but I expected that since I wasn't a snake.
Ethan didn't flinch as I poked the fang into his shoulder lightly. Injecting a small amount of antivenom. I could feel the sting of the injection through our bond, and repeated the process on Savannah next.
{There,} I healed the small wounds quickly, {Now they won't be able to poison you for a little while.}
My wings snapped out with the same sound I'd expect from a sail going tight when the wind hit it, and I leapt off the wall into the sky. Ethan was waiting for it as if he could feel my body as his own. Savannah on the other hand, needed to be stabilized by a quick intervention of Ethan's telekinesis. I smirked at Ethan as I glanced back at them among my spines. It took less than a minute to cross the distance between us, and the poisonous lizards.
