Gummy bear

Daisy's pov

Hundreds of lights shine along the usually dark wintry lane, illuminating like the flickering candles. Everywhere there are folks in their winter garb, thick woolen jackets, mitts and scarfs. There are people around, families with children holding their parents' hands as smiles brighten their faces like the moon lights up the night sky. The music floats in the chilly air, calming our senses.

After all, the fair is all about feathers and sparkles, smiles and laughter. It never fails to bring such life to our souls. My brain is buzzing, my limbs tired yet charged up at the same time after the number of rides we rode on. I breathe in deep, the day being my vacation from reality.

Scrolling through the numerous beaming faces, I spot a young couple laughing at something the guy says while the girl adorably stares at him, laughing all the time. There's another old couple, the old man getting a cotton candy for his wife while the lady grins like a kid. Somewhere away, there's a kid being adamant about something he wants.

My smile instantly falls off as I spot HIM in the crowd. He's standing sideways clad in a white shirt clinging onto his torso, displaying his well-built muscles. He's smiling a wide smile, his eyes crinkling at the sides lighting up his physiognomy.

Composing myself, I start walking towards him. I finally found him after so many days, I'm not going to let him go this time. He turns towards me and I meet his eyes expectantly, but my heart falls deep into my stomach when he ignores me as if he doesn't even recognize me and turns away.

He starts walking away while I'm left shocked in my tracks gaping at him like a lunatic waiting for someone to wake me up from this horrible nightmare. He loves me. He is the love of my life, then how can he? How can he ignore me like I don't even exist?

Finding my voice, I yell his name, my friends and random people around me long forgotten. He turns around and scans through the crowd trying to spot the person yelling his name. I wave my arms in the air trying to catch his attention but when his eyes finally meet mine, he stares at me for a minute and walks away as if he doesn't know me.

I feel like a thousand needles are pricked through my heart. This is not the Brandon, I loved. He is not the person I fell in love with.

"Wait! Brandon, please." I scream through my tears, running behind him.

"Brandon please, don't walk away like this."

"Please wait!"

"B-Brandon!"

And suddenly I feel cold water seeping through my clothes like my head is placed under the stream of the flowing river leaving me gasping for oxygen.

'What in the actual hell is happening here?.........

"Wake up, sleepyhead."

Oh! So, I was dreaming. Then the events of previous day rush back to me making me realize that we're still at the camp. Though I'm awake, I decide to pretend and don't open my eyes.

"Hey! It looks like she's dreaming of fairies and unicorns." The ever so childish Luke's voice speaks.

"I bet she's dreaming about white chocolate." This is surely Lizz and I can imagine the dreamy look on her face. I bite back the smile fighting to break out on my face.

"No, no! Look at her expression, looks like she's calling someone." Ron's serious voice says.

"Ronnie, bro looks like she's dreaming about you." What! What does Luke mean by this?

"Guys! We're here to wake her up and not to guess what she's dreaming about."

I'm sure this one's Jake because he's the only practical and sensible one in the group.

"Wait, wait Jakey chain, let's click some amazing pics of her dreamy face so that we can use it to blackmail her later, especially on her birthday." Not happening Lukey boy, just wait for my attack.

Ever so slowly, I cover my face with the duvet and slowly peek out. I catch Jake's eye and wink at him to stay quiet and he nods with a grin on his face. Slowly, I glance at the other end and spot Aaron and Lizz engaged in a deep conversation. I narrow my eyes at them as I feel a pang of jealousy within me. My Ron and Lizz?

"Jakey chain, help me remove the covers and then I'll click some amazing pics." I shut my eyes and wait for Jake to come near me.

Just when Luke turns his back to me to call over Ron and Lizz, I throw the covers off and jump on his back startling him to the core.

"Not happening, Poooottaaaatttooooooo." He lets out a gasp as I scream into his ear and snatch the phone off his hands.

"What the hell, Daisy? You scared me to death." He groans out.

Sharing a secret look with Jake, I kick Luke in the back of his knee making him fall to the ground. And next thing I know, all of us except me attack him with cushions and pillows while I stand at the side clicking his hilarious pictures.

After a lot of fun and breakfast, we all set off to the town to meet again at the night for a movie before continuing our daily routine schedule resuming from tomorrow.

I'm currently seated in the passenger seat of Ron's car as I came here with him. Alan walker songs are playing in the background as I keep staring at the view outside, relishing the cold winter air and breathing in the freedom it gives.

"Gummy bear." I hear Ron call me.

"Hmm" I mumble in response.

"I-I want to help you." He whispers with hesitation in his voice.

"With what?"

"Your bo-boyfriend." He clutches the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white. But just his intention to help me warms my heart providing me intense relief.

"You sure, Ron?" I ask raising my eyebrows.

"As sure as I can be, Gummy bear. Just for you." He says with longing in his eyes as he stares deep into my eyes.

"Focus on the road, Ron! We might get into a crash." I gasp as he suddenly swerves the car suddenly narrowly escaping the crash.

"You okay, Daisy?" He asks worriedly, stopping the car by the sidetracks.

"I'm fine. You didn't get hurt, did you?" I ask.

"No physical injuries but don't know about the emotional one's." He says staring off into space.

"Let's get going, Ron. This is no parking zone." I say dismissing his earlier statement.

"Yeah, so details?" He asks as we get onto the road again.

"I'll text it to you."

***********

Two days passed by, but there's no information about Brandon yet. I wonder whether Ron could even get hold of him and what's taking him so long.

The day passed by uneventfully and I still have no information about both Brandon and Ron. Just the God knows what's up with them. I just hope they're both perfectly fine.
