Daisy's pov
"Well, first go into the third room, your dress and all the essentials are there. Get ready, birthday girl." I say, winking at her in eagerness. I'm bound to be eager.
"You brought me one?" She asks with surprise clearly evident on her features.
"Obviously, why wouldn't I? Now go and get ready first." I push her forward in the direction of her room and go around to check all the last minute arrangements.
Almost an hour later, she emerges from the room with a huge grin plastered on her face extending between both the ears.
I brought her the gown she loved at the mall the other day but didn't have enough dollars to buy it.
The blue beaded gown hugs her curves perfectly, complimenting all the highs and lows. The neckline is round made of white pearls which leave no room for any other jewellery. She walks out as lightly as an acrobat. The blue silky dress, flows below her waist, peppering her body with soft kisses.
Her hair is pulled up in a half updo, the dark brown locks in perfect curls framing her heart-shaped face. Her hazel eyes are complimented with a thin stroke of eyeliner and mascara. She is wearing the diamond earrings which once belonged to Alice and her mom decided to give it to us so that she'd have something of her sister on their birthday.
Her high heels stop clicking on the floor as she halts in front of me, a hand on her waist. And as smoothly as possible, she swipes her hair over her shoulders and raises an eyebrow at me in question.
"You look ravishing, my friend," I say running my eyes over her one last time.
"Thank you. So now what? Where are the guys?" She asks as her eyes look around with longing and desperation.
Desperation? Is she desperate to see my Ron?
"We are here!" Luke says with a smile on his face, his eyes glinting with mischief.
"What are you up to, bro?" I whisper in his ear.
"Not me. Ask what is your Jakey chain up to." Comes his reply leaving me confused.
"What do you mean?" I ask staring at his face, which holds the same mischievous look.
"TURN AROUND, LIZZ!" Aaron screams, pushing a huge box into the cabin.
"Woah, what is this?" Lizz seems to be as surprised as me while Luke stands there with his hands on his hips and a camera stand in front of him, facing us. Wait! When did he set that up?
"While you were ogling at Aaron and Lizz, at that huge carton."
"Did I say that out loud?" I ask, facepalming myself mentally.
"Yes, you did. Before you ask anything else, let the show begin." He yells dramatically like a circus joker, calling for the audience's attention.
"Lizz, in front of your present, NOW!" This time it's Aaron.
As soon as Lizz walks in front of it, the box opens by itself and from within it emerges a tall, bulky blue eyed peasant, who takes two steps ahead and falls on his knees with a cake in each of his hand.
A white chocolate and strawberry cake, the one Lizz loves, with 'WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?' written on it. And another butterscotch, vanilla cake with 'NO? DUMP THIS ON MY HEAD' written on it.
"Wow Jakey chain, when did you turn so cheesy?" I ask him with an amused look, but his focus seems somewhere else, at someone. Following his line of vision, my eyes rest on Lizz's face who stands there stunned, her eyes as wide as saucers and her lips set in a grim line.
Well! I don't think it's heading in a positive direction.
"Lizz, Before you react I wanna say something. I like you, Lizz. Been doing that since a long time. I was scared, in fact, I still am. But I just want to give it a try. Who knows, this can head into something beautiful. It can be something beautiful. Let's give it a chance. I know I suck at this but I wanna try. I promise, if we part our ways in the future, if this doesn't work out, I won't hold it against you or anyone. We part on good terms and stay the best friends we are. So?" He raises his eyebrows in question, his face holding fear, desperation and worry.
"My favourite one." She answers breaking the silence that prevailed for the last two minutes.
"What?"
"It's a yes, idiot." She says, grinning ear to ear.
Like a flash, he's on his feet, the cakes being placed on the table beside him and they're in each other's arms squeezing the guts out of them.
"Lizz? Didn't you have a crush on Aaron?" I ask with confusion clouding my senses.
"What? NO! Where'd you get that from?" She asks flabbergasted, getting out of Jake's hold and coming over to me.
"You've given clear signals."
"Hannah, listen to me very carefully, it's not Ronnie whom I like, it's Jake. I have for a very long time. I never shared or expressed it because I didn't want to. I never thought we stand a chance together. That's why I never bothered expressing it. Ronnie is cool, handsome and all but no, I don't like him in that way. As a friend, I do. So he's your's to keep." She says gripping my shoulders with an intense look on her face.
I just nod in response and excuse myself to get some air.
"Eliza, you've your parents waiting for you in the fourth cabin down this lane." I hear Luke say before I step out into the cool wintery air of Frankford.
