The Alpha Queen

"What about this?" Stephen asked and raised his chosen little white baby clothes.

"No," I said and chuckled. "You know, it's just baffling me..."

My mates raised their eyebrows and gave me a look, knowing where I was going. I ignored their stares and continued.

"Why is it so hard to put together a decent run through? You people have had hours and hours to–"

"Babe stop," Aaron sighed. "You actually sound like Miranda Priestly and it's weird."

"Why?" I asked. "Miranda Priestly is a queen! Meryl Streep that portrayed her and Anna Wintour who was the inspiration for the character are legends!"

"And you're pregnant," Stephen muttered that earned him a punch from me.

Aaron sighed. "Definitely pregnant."

I gave them a look and turned to find more baby clothes. We were shopping for our kids even we're still a few months away. We agreed to not know their sexes just yet. Charlie already knew but agreed. The sexes of our kids are kept as his secret.

While we were strolling, Stephen saw a woman. She was tall and beautiful. Her skin was dark and looked as smooth as honey.

She was talking to both my mates which made my stomach churn. I don't know if this is part of the pregnancy but I want to rip her hair off.

Even though she's very pretty, I don't care.

Aaron joined in their conversation and he too was laughing. This made me want to rip the woman's face along with her hair.

You know what, I want to rip her head off.

Can I just ripe everything? This woman makes me feel insecure. I'm way below her level and she's making me feel something on the inside.

And it's not jealousy!

'We can hear you, you know,' Stephen said from the link.

Aaron gazed at me and winked, 'And we can see you too. Come here, babe.'

'Make me,' I said and cut them off. I turned around and hit a wall.

Wait, it's a person with a hard chest.

No, wait. It's Stephen.

"You're just jealous. Let's talk," he said and led me to a restaurant. We were sitting on a large booth with a circular sofa bench booth. I was in the middle and we were covered with an uncomfortable silence.

When an issue arises, the three of us would settle it as early as possible. We talked about it and agreed to not marinate the issue further. It would only take a toll on our relationship.

The woman arrived with– another woman?

"Hello," she said. "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Alicia, I am the Alpha of a neighboring pack and this is Christina, my beloved mate."

I looked down in embarrassment. I knew I was going too far with my jealousy. I'm so stupid.

"Baby, don't say that," Aaron said, holding my hand.

"Babe, you're not stupid," Stephen added, holding my other hand. "You're just pregnant."

I chuckled at them before looking at Alicia. "I'm sorry."

She shook her head in disagreement, "No, no. I fully understand. I have seen a lot of pregnant wolves before and believe me, compared to them, you're doing a terrific job."

I smiled and nodded. "Thank you."

Christina smiled and chuckled, "Luna Klyde, you're so adorable."

"Oh, we forgot to tell you," Aaron said. "Christina was from Crimson Harvest and studied South for her PhD. She met Alicia before and they felt the pull since. And that was about 10 years ago."

I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"I'm 40 years old, Luna Klyde," Alicia said that made my eyes widen. Although I don't usually ask a woman her age, I felt like I didn't need to ask her since she only looked 20.

"It's been 12 years since I became the Alpha and I've been thriving in leading my pack. Only when Christina went to my pack that I felt a faint pull," she said. "I'm known as The Alpha Queen since I raised my pack atop the ranks singlehandedly. It was only a few months ago that I realized..." she looked at Christina, "that I was already in love."

Christina blushed and hid her face under her hair. "Don't say that, babe. You're making me blush."

My mates hold in my hand loosened and I looked down at our hands. Before I knew it, I was pushed back into the couch. My mouth was ravished by two tongues, dancing in an unheard rhythm.

"You guys," Alicia sighed.

The kiss was finished with a long peck and they returned to their original seats.

No one in the restaurant cared about what we did. The pack's influence was so powerful, even the city was under our control. We hold the cards in our territory.

"Anyway, we're here to discuss the details of the upcoming event," Aaron said.

"Just say we're here to discuss Jonathan," Alicia sighed.

Jonathan was the Alpha of another strong pack, the Scarlet Crest pack. It was a pack that ruled the East. While our pack ruled the North and West, Alicia ruled the South, he ruled the East.

He's a savage, only acknowledging the week. And he's homophobic too. The Alphas are concerned about his views on the recent rise of same-sex and polyamorous mates. They all knew he would be against it.

"So, what shall we do?" Alicia asked.

"It's best to avoid him," Stephen said. "He's an *sshole and everyone knew that."

"I agree," Aaron sighed. "We really can't do much when it comes to Jonathan. Wait, how many Alphas had same-sex or polyamorous mates?"

Alicia thought for a moment before answering, "From the 72 alphas, 8 – including us – has same-sex mates and 4 are polyamorous including you. And out of 72, you're the only ones that check both criteria."

"So, we're the biggest target of this Jonathan?" I asked my mates but they shook their heads.

"Jonathan doesn't view the magnitude of what he dislikes, Luna Klyde," Alicia said.

"So, we're all targets?" Christina asked.

The three Alphas nodded and slouched on their chairs in frustration. If Jonathan triggers words that could turn other people on his side in the conference, it would be dangerous.

A pack war may start because of it.

A few seconds passed and Aaron sat up and smiled. "We can do this, guys."

"Yeah," Stephen added. "It's just a week. We'll be able to handle this."

Alicia sat up and nodded. "Let's just hope we can."
