Article 7

"If we classify a man, woman and child; man, man and child; woman, woman and child; mateless man and child; and mateless woman and child as a unit of a family, then we will breach Article 7."

"Then let's amend Article 7."

"If we change what was written in Article 7, then we have to change the laws in succession to it."

...

My mind is blank. There were too many voices and too many opinions that often clash.

Werewolves are territorial and possessive – very possessive. A law that has been possessed by their pack for generations, they couldn't simply change that because of certain phenomena.

They will try to oppose it.

A few hours had passed and we made almost zero progress. The only law that was agreed upon unanimously was the law against marrying a rogue. Alpha Jonathan was the led the change so he could officially marry Luna Gail.

But then Article 7 happened.

A certain law that stated that a unit can only be classified as a family when a man, woman and child, forms one. Other than that isn't allowed for such privileges.

A question hit me. We were eating our lunch when I asked my mates, "If we could fully amend Article 7, won't that corner us?"

"What?" Aaron asked.

"If a man, man and child is allowed, then what about a man," I pointed at Aaron, "man," I pointed at Stephen, "and man?" I pointed at myself. "Isn't this unapplicable to us?"

Stephen blinked before his eyes widened, "Why didn't I think of that?"

"We have to change that."

The meeting continued and the host, the Harlequin Vestibule Pack, decided that the packs shall take turns talking. This way, the clashing of opinions will decrease.

Only when a pack strongly disagrees with the recent statement that they raise their hands to break the order. After that certain pack's counter, that the original order continues. The countering pack will also be skipped, so it's not wise to use the counter without hearing the others.

There are more than 70 packs and ours just landed a statement.

As the order continued, there was less bickering. But the tension in the air increased tenfold. If you're, say 50th pack and a very aggressive comment against your beliefs was released on the 3rd, you should wait for your turn in anger. And if, say 20 of the succeeding packs agrees with the 3rd's opinion, your pride would be long trampled on.

Sometimes you resort to anger.

Just like the Blue Ivy pack is doing right now. They were opposed to having queer wolves have their own bathrooms.

"You have been privileged far too much!" their alpha yelled. "What more grace do you f*ggots want?!"

A breaking of a table echoed throughout the entire hall. Three men stood around the alpha with powerful and terrifying killing intent.

"Aaron, did you heard what this puny alpha said?" Stephen asked in a tone of a joke. But everyone knew he wasn't kidding.

"Loud and clear, Stephen. He said something insulting," Aaron replied. "What 'bout you Jonathan? Heard him?"

Alpha Jonathan growled, "I think I do. I think he said something like–"

Alicia got in between them, "Let's settle this like civilized people."

When the three men glared at the now cowering alpha, Alicia sighed. "Men and their temper."

"Yeah, so that's why you settled for a woman, huh?" Blue Ivy's alpha remarked that earned him a hard punch in the face by Alicia.

"I thought we were civilized people?" Aaron teased as they went back on their seats.

"I forgot," Alicia said and didn't sit down. "We're wolves. It's hard to be civilized."

"Listen up!" she said with full alpha tone. "I am The Alpha Queen and you all know that if you're not in this table..." she pointed at the broken rectangular table we were on, "Then I'm most likely stronger than you, but let's not talk about that. The point is that I'm female and I have a female mate. I have never once thought of stopping mates from getting married because our Moon Goddess chose it. It's our fate."

"So, why does it matter if I marry a female mate and have a pup? Why should you care? It's not like I'm stopping you from marrying your mate. Don't be selfish! Why does MY marriage matter to YOU, huh?"

The room was filled with silence. No one dared to oppose it since she made a great point.

"Why does it matter?!"

When no one answered, Alicia flipped the already broken table and growled.

"There, you have Article 7 fixed."

She returned to her seat with a sigh. She rolled her eyes while Christina massaged her arm. "Ugh, men."

Aaron and Stephen stood, "We are not in favor of the appeal."

Everyone's eyes widened and Alicia smacked her face, "What now?"

Stephen elbowed our mate, "That came out wrong. He meant is that we have a better amendment."

Aaron nodded, "Right. Instead of defining a parent by gender, why not define it by capability?"

"A male and male parents or female and female parents may be as capable as any other parents but not all of them are," Stephen followed.

"Instead, let us define parenthood by how capable one can be. That a child with one or more capable parents is classified as a family," Aaron finished and waited for the silence to be finished but it never did.

No one spoke anything as they were still thinking of what we suggested.

"Think of it this way," Stephen said. "A percent of everyone's pack has a polyamorous mated couple. If we let them go unheard, even when they're the most capable parents of all, the pack wouldn't consider them as a family still. We are robbing them of that right."

"So, we don't define parenthood by quantity or gender or any other qualities," Aaron spoke and inhaled. "Let's define a family without limits."

An alpha raised his hand, "I concur!"

Others had followed him until our plea was heard.

The new law of the classification for a family; "A unit can only be classified as a family when there are one or more capable parents and a child."
