Chapter 33 - Special Day

Prince Meelzib arrived at vice commander Holan's mansion in Cherilisia. He was welcomed by his grandparents. When Meelzib sat in living room, his uncle's wife, Pamina, went to him with fresh fruit juice. She placed it on the table and walked out backwards with a bow. Meelzib looked at the pictures on the wall but his attention was on the one that contained a picture of Holan and his daughter, Lalina.

Prince Meelzib was fond of Lalina and he treated her like a younger sister. At times he would take her out and spoil her with anything she wanted. He was hoping to see her along with his mother but he remembered that she had gone to the Great Academy.

Meelzib looked at his wrist watch and wondered how much longer Lavila was going to keep him waiting. He was informed that she took refuge there so he decided to pay her a visit. He took his eyes off his glass when he heard the sound of slippers hitting the tiled floors.

Lavila wore a depressed look on her face. She didn't have any make up on and her hair was shaggy. Her eyes were swollen because she had been crying. When she saw Meelzib looking at her she ran to him and cried at his feet. Meelzib picked her up and hugged her. He hated to see his mother cry.

"Please forgive your mother for bringing great shame to you." She begged.

"It's alright mother. It has already happened." Meelzib answered her.

"Thank you for coming to check up on me. I have been feeling so hopelessly depressed. This is all Reena's fault." Lavila hissed through her teeth.

"No it is not her fault. It is yours for being a harlot." Meelzib plainly stated.

Lavila pulled away from him and attempted to slap him but he caught her hand. She glared into his cold and sinister eyes that revealed nothing but the emptiness in him.

"I thought you of all people know that I don't like getting hit especially by a woman." his deep voice was clear.

Lavila scowled at his words. "Regardless of what happened Meelzib, I am still your mother. I may not be queen anymore but that fact still stands." she sternly said to him. "You will respect me."

Meelzib scoffed and released his hold on Lavila's wrist. "Respect is earned mother but never mind that. I am glad to see that you are okay."

"You call this being okay? I have been stripped of my crown and power. Your father should be thinking of having another wife." Lavila said with disgust.

"I witnessed his advisors telling him to have another wife as soon as possible." Meelzib said and his words hit Lavila hard.

"You cannot allow that to happen Meelzib!" She exclaimed.

"Why not? This is none of my business." Prince Meelzib said with a yawn.

Lavila rolled her eyes. "Son, you know how your father dreads having you as the heir because of your lack of compassion for the people of Dark Star. If he marries again, that will mean him fathering another child. What do you think can stop him from giving your rights to that child?" Lavila explained her point.

Prince Meelzib scowled darkly at her. "Father would never do such a thing!" he roared.

"He can and he will do it Meelzib! Remember what he said to you the night you threw that prostitute over your balcony?" She asked him and he paused in thought. "You must stop that from happening or else you will regret it."

Prince Meelzib felt extremely bothered by his mother's words because he knew that she was right. He scowled at her before storming out with his guards immediately following him out. Lavila threw her head back began to laugh evilly. Her irrational laughter caught the attention of Panima and she went into the living room. She was concerned to find Lavila laughing so hard on the sofa.

"Oh my dearest sister in law, you don't know the storm that I have just started." Lavila said to her and continued laughing.

Lavila got up and swayed her hips to the window. She looked out with her eyes fixed on the royal castle. She giggled a little more like a crazed maniac and that only worried Panima more.

"Raglan, you shouldn't have gone against me. Now you will have to pay." Lavila grinned evilly.

Sharaina went with Naraygeous and Zentz to the building where they theoretical classes were going to be taking place. They had received word that their timetable was out so they decided to check it. They joined the crowd around the notice board. Sharaina tried to have a peek at the timetable but unfortunately for her, there were too many people in front. All of them were pushing and shoving.

Sharaina sighed in defeat and backed away. She looked for Naraygeous and Zentz and they too were struggling to get a look at the time table. They both sighed and joined Sharaina looking at the crowd. Naraygeous suddenly got an idea and he looked at Sharaina with bright eyes. Sharaina backed away and narrowed her eyes suspiciously at Naraygeous.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked him.

"Get on my shoulders so that you can be tall enough to see the timetable." He told her and she shook her head sideways.

"You must be crazier than I remembered Naraygeous. Why would I want to get on a pervert like you? I saw you ogling at my ass earlier. There's no way I'm doing that." Sharaina sternly told him.

"Oh come on Sharaina you can't honestly blame me for staring. You see this is why I say that boyfriend of yours is a sneaky bastard. He has secured that glorious ass for himself." Naraygeous snickered to Sharaina's annoyance.

"You are such an asshole." Sharaina glared at him.

"It is the only way. Tomorrow is the festival so we won't have time for this. The day after that, class commences. How will we know which class to go to if we don't get the time table today?" Naraygeous tried to reason with her.

"Okay fine I will do it but only if I get on Zentz instead." Sharaina folded her arms.

"What? No! Zentz still has a sore shoulder remember?" Naraygeous reminded her.

"No actually my shoulder is fine." Zentz spoke up and his words were met with a glare from Naraygeous.

"Zentz you idiot!" Naraygeous grabbed his collar.

"Remember you said that this is the only way." Zentz smiled cockily at him.

Naraygeous watched Zentz help Sharaina get on top of his shoulders with a scowl and folded arms. Sharaina and Zentz laughed at him and he pumped his fist at Zentz.

Zentz walked a little closer and Sharaina spotted the timetable. She carefully started to write it down. When the other students who equally failed to copy the time table saw what they were doing, they did the same.

A group of pretty girls were giggling at Naraygeous. He looked at them and they turned away squealing. Naraygeous smirked at this and he walked to them. When they saw him looking down at them they shrieked. This was a sight Naraygeous was used to. For as long as he could remember; ladies threw themselves at him because of his charming looks. The six that were before him were no different.

With the corner of his eye, Zentz saw Naraygeous leave with the six girls. He turned away and chuckled. Sharaina rolled her eyes when she saw Naraygeous flirt with the girls. He had been that way for as long as she remembered. She remembered how he introduced different girls as his girlfriends to her and Naian. So much so that they couldn't keep up.

"He will never change." Sharaina laughed.

"You are so right on that one." Zentz chuckled. "Are you done copying the time table."

"Yes I am. You can help me down now." Sharaina said and Zentz helped her off him.

Sharaina handed her book to Zentz and she looked over to the internal gates. It was a Wednesday therefore they were opened. She wondered if it was going to be a good day to check on Light. Her having nothing lined up for the day didn't mean that Light was free too. So far her birthday was dull so the thought of seeing him lifted her mood.

Zentz was talking to Sharaina when he realized that she had not been listening. He took notice that she was staring at the internal gates. Zentz put her book in his jacket pocket and tapped Sharaina's shoulder.

"I'm sorry what were you saying?" Sharaina asked him.

"I was saying that I am thinking of going to the Gamarax Manipulator campus. I want to see my aunt. She is a lecturer there." Zentz repeated himself.

"Okay let's go together. I want to see if I can see Light today." Sharaina answered with a smile.

"What is the name of the room you are going to?" Zentz asked Sharaina.

"TQ-8456" Sharaina quickly answered. She memorized it.

Zentz held his chin in thought. "I think I can help you find it. I used to have a friend staying in the TQ area." He said and Sharaina was delighted.

Sharaina and Zentz walked to the internal gates and Sharaina marveled at the gates. They looked more amazing up close because they were so tall that she felt tiny standing next to them. The Gamarax Manipulator Academy was a lot different from the Warrior Academy because it consisted of several tall buildings.

Zentz led Sharaina through the campus. It was clear to Sharaina that he truly knew his way around there. Before Sharaina knew it, they arrived at a gate that was labeled 'TUTORS QUARTERS'.

Sharaina was stunned by that. Light had not mentioned to her that he was a student and a tutor. Zentz walked over to the security guard at the gate.

"Yes, how may I help you?" He asked with a bored look on his face.

"Well, my friend here wants to see a tutor known as Light...er" Zentz looked at Sharaina.

"Velan." She said.

Zentz turned back to the guard. "Yes... Light Velan."

"And what is your name young lady." He asked Sharaina, with the same bored tone in his voice.

"Sharaina Sharumez." She answered.

The security guard lazily opened a book and flipped the pages until he came to a page where he slid his finger across it. He halted when he came across Sharaina's name. He nodded his head and opened the gate.

"I'm leaving now Sharaina. Remember to return to our campus before eight." Zentz cautioned her.

"Alright I will. Thanks."

Sharaina walked through the Tutors Quarters and admired how neat and clean the yards looked. They looked especially beautiful with the flowers that graced them. She saw a few people in uniforms that matched Light's uniform and assumed that they were tutors too. After walking for several minutes, Sharaina finally found Light's place.

The windows were closed and she began to fear that he wasn't around. Her fears were confirmed when he didn't open the door after she knocked for a while. Sharaina sighed and sat on his porch. She was feeling a little tired from all the walking she did hence she decided to rest a little before leaving.

Light was slowly walking to his place when he saw Sharaina sitting on his porch from a far. He had little hope that she was going to come and visit that day because he assumed that she would be busy with training or class. The sight of her at sitting outside his door made him so happy. He hurried his steps and soon stood at his gate. He quickly opened it and Sharaina jumped into his arms. Light twirled her around and pecked her lips.

"I am so relieved that I decided to cook instead of eating out otherwise I would have missed you." Light happily said to her.

"I had even given up on the thought of seeing you." Sharaina giggled.

Light pulled out his keys and opened the door. "Come on in." he gestured.

Sharaina was smitten by how neat and clean Light's sitting room was. It had three black sofas, a coffee table and a stacked bookshelf. On the wall was a clock and beside it were beautiful paintings. They were painted in different and vibrant strokes of paint. To the left was an open door revealing a kitchen of beige tiles.

Light took off his jacket and threw it on a sofa. He pulled up his sleeves and went into the kitchen. Sharaina followed him in. The kitchen was half the size of the sitting room. It had built in cream white cabinets and a built in beige table. There was a silver sink by the window that was covered by a yellow curtain. The sink had a few dirty dishes in it.

Sharaina silently watched Light place a pot on the stove. Light poured water into it and lit the stove. He turned back to Sharaina and gave her his charming smile that always made her squirm. His eyes scanned her from head to toe. They couldn't hide that he was checking her out.

"You look good in your uniform." He jerked his manly brow up flirtatiously.

"Thank you." Sharaina blushed a little. "You really know how to keep your house clean." she complimented, amazed.

Light laughed. "Well you can say that. There's a maid who comes every two days to clean. Our administration hires maids to keep our quarters clean." he explained.

Sharaina looked disturbed. "Does she clean when you're around?" her jealousy was obvious.

Light pulled her by her waist and grinned at her. "Sometimes." he said and laughed at the hurt look on Sharaina's face. "Oh come on, don't be like that. She is just doing her job and I..." he paused with a smug look. "I'm sticking to my ethics. Moreover, I am yours and only yours. Just as you are mine. Isn't that so?"

Sharaina felt herself squirming. She playfully pulled away from Light and went back into the sitting room. Light smiled to himself and poured some spaghetti into the boiling water.

"Where is the bathroom?" He heard Sharaina ask.

"It's in my room." Light answered back.

Sharaina slowly opened the door and her eyes fell on the double bed covered in a black fury duvet. It had two large fluffy white pillows and two smaller black pillows. On the window were white curtains with black circles. In a corner was a table that was piled with books and papers. A coat was hanging on the chair beside it. Away from the desk was a closed double door white wardrobe. On top of the wardrobe was Light's guitar.

Sharaina went to the door away from the bed and found herself in Light's bathroom of a glass shower and toilet. When she was done using the toilet, she flashed and washed her hands in the sink. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and combed her hair away from her face with her fingers.

Sharaina then walked out of the bathroom only to meet a surprise that she least expected. She covered her mouth with her hand in surprise. She was completely loss for words that she didn't feel herself giggling.

"Happy birthday." Light held up a cupcake lit by one candle.

"How did you...?"

"Your mother told me." Light chuckled softly.

He took Sharaina's hand and made her sit on the bed. He laughed softly at her misty eyes and bright smile on her face.

"Aren't you going to blow out your candle?" He asked her.

Sharaina hugged Light and he held the cupcake away from her as he laughed softly. Sharaina pulled away and took it from him. She tucked her hair behind her ear and shyly looked at Light who was smiling warmly at her. Sharaina closed her eyes and blew out the candle.

"Happy eighty first birthday." Light softly said to her.

Sharaina held up the cupcake to Light. "Take a bite." She merrily told him.

Light leaned closer and took a bite as Sharaina laughed softly. He whipped up some cream and smeared it on Sharaina's cheek. The both of them giggled playfully at that. Light then took the cupcake and held it up to Sharaina.

"Come on, take your bite." he mirthfully told her.

Sharaina took two bites and the entire cupcake was gone. Light looked at his empty but creamy hand and he shook his head with a smirk. Sharaina watched him pull something from underneath the bed. Her eyes widened at the glittery parcel in his hands.

"This is from your family." He told her and she looked confused. "Remember when I left you to go and pack?" He asked her and she nodded her head. "Your mother secretly gave me this so that I could give it to you. To be honest, I was wondering how I was going to do that."

Sharaina took the gift away from Light. She tore it open with an excited heart. Sharaina pulled out a lovely maroon dress fit for balls. Underneath it were black open toed heels.

"I will be the happiest to see you in that dress tomorrow at the royal ball." Light said and caught Sharaina by surprise.

"The royal ball?"

"Yes, I, along with other tutors have been selected to attend the royal ball. I want you to come with me."

Sharaina bounced up and down as she sat in excitement. Light laughed softly as he shook his head. "You are so happy despite me not having given you a gift yet."

"You got me something?" Sharaina asked Light as she giggled.

Light slipped his hand under a pillow and pulled out a case. He gave it to Sharaina and sat back. Sharaina put the dress and heels aside. She looked at Light as she used her thumb to open the case. Her eyes widened at the sparkly diamond choker lying on a red silk cloth.

"Are these real?" she asked him in disbelief.

"Yes." Light simply answered.

"It looks so expensive." Sharaina worriedly said. "Light you didn't have to..." Light shushed her.

"I'm I not allowed to spend on you?" He asked her.

"Light you know what I mean." Sharaina argued with a whine.

"Sharaina, stop worrying about how much it costs. Trust me, I didn't even feel the cost of its price. All I want is to make your first birthday with me special. Is that too much to ask?"

"No." Sharaina whispered.

"Come on, try it on. I want to see it on your neck."

Sharaina took off her jacket and unbuttoned her shirt. She picked up the choker and wrapped it around her neck. Light had his eyes on her the whole time. Sharaina threw her hair back and looked at Light with her shoulders down.

"How does it look?" She asked him.

Light gestured to the mirror with a smile on his face. Sharaina went to it and smiled at the lovely choker. The diamonds were arranged in a pretty pattern and they twinkled in the light beautifully. Light joined Sharaina at the mirror. He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"It looks even more beautiful on you."

Sharaina turned to him and put her hands around his neck. "Thank you for making my birthday special."

Light pulled her closer and planted his lips on hers. They both kissed slowly and passionately as they hugged each other tight. Neither of them wanted to let go. At that moment, their togetherness was all that mattered.
