Jayden

The wind hit Jayden hard as he walked out of the ULTRASONIC headquarters. Thinking about only seeing his best friends once a month was really getting to his head. DJ had always stuck by his side, even when they were at each other’s necks in an argument. Even though he was born in the Sage, he was always loyal to the Commonwealth. You wouldn’t catch DJ breaking the rules even if his life depended on it. Jayden smiled sadly as he slowly crossed his right hand over his chest. He already knew what was going to happen, but he still was taken by surprise as his weight was lifted off the earth below him. With his hand still over his heart, he fell to the ground and landed on his feet with a thump. Deep breath, Jayden. As he breathed in, he tried once more to take off. The air smelled like fresh grass and he got lost in the scent, not knowing that he was already a few feet in the air. How the hell am he supposed to go forward? Awkwardly, Jayden stepped forward and kicked off a little at the air. Immediately, his body flung itself in the opposite direction of the building and he began to fly. The thrill really can’t be explained. It was like being able to relax. The wind flowing through his hair made him feel even more weightless, free, but also a little nervous. He had risen way above the roof of the ULTRASONIC building so falling from here would mean the death of him. As he flew past buildings and houses, he saw a faint outline of the Endless Wall that became more defined as he flew. How in the world am he supposed to get down? Jayden forced down the panic that arose within him and vigorously swiped the patch again, hoping to trigger something. His heart almost jumped out of his chest as he plummeted down, feet first through the air. The wind was suffocating him and he couldn’t keep his eyes open any longer. He braced himself for the impact but a few seconds later, his feet still hadn’t touched the ground. He hadn’t even realized that the force on his head had withered and the wind had stopped pooling around him. The boy’s ears rang as he opened his eyes, finding himself centimeters above the ground. There were nothing but trees surrounding the area. He swiftly gazed to his right, seeing the Endless Wall trailing down the earth behind him, it’s shadow stretching far across the land. At Jayden’s feet there was a bag. It was a navy colored crossbody bag that was relatively big for its type. The only reason he knew was because DJ was and is a fashion freak. They would get sent clothes every few weeks or so in the Sunken, but DJ always pulled Jayden into his room to help customize it. Jayden smiled at the memory and stepped down from where he was hovering, bouncing lightly on his feet. Bending over, he picked up the bag and quickly unzipped the zipper. Inside was a small jacket that was folded neatly into a small square shape. Unfolding it revealed the blue-violet color at the collar and shoulders, contrasting perfectly with the metallic gold that was prominent around the torso. Immediately, Jayden loved it and spent no time throwing away his bulky chestplate and slipping the soft fabric on. The bottom of the jacket came right around his waist, hugging just the right amount to give support to his upper body. His black shirt hung below the jacket, tucking into his joggers. He reached into the bag once again, not having to dig deep for his fingers to meet a smooth texture. Leather. He pulled out the article of clothing that was also folded into a small rectangle and extended it to the point where he realized what it was. Pants. White, leather pants. Sure, they would go with the outfit rather nicely but he wasn’t the kind of person who would pick fashion over being comfy. Grudgingly, he kicked off his combat boots and removed his cotton joggers, replacing them with the pants. The wind hit his bare legs and he felt a shiver through his entire body. Jayden quickly pulled on the leather with a little struggle and discarded his regular armor. Or in other words, threw them behind a nearby tree. He wrung the crossbody bag around himself and turned around, checking his surroundings. Behind him was a regular wooden, double door. The wall around it seemed old with vines strung all the way to the top, too far for Jayden to see. He had learned in history class that the wall was actually two walls that ran parallel with the city between them. He knew because of the doors that he was at the main wall where only specific people could enter through. He guessed that some officials came through once in a while as well as other people like him. Guarders. Jayden lifted himself into the air again and stood there floating, watching the day turn dark. The Overhead was a beautiful sight, the sun setting right in the middle of the two walls like it was placed there exactly for that purpose. Maybe it was. It had been a long time since Jayden had seen the sun set. The colors of the sky forming an ombre of blues and purples as well as warmer yellows and oranges. He marveled at the sight and closed his eyes as he lost consciousness and everything faded. His memories were on the other side, waiting to be remembered.
