Prologue

2:00pm — the bell for closure of school rang, and those in a hurry to get home, rushed out quickly.

2:30pm — the huge population of people in school had significantly reduced by this time, to a small number of people remaining in the school premises. It was revision week; everybody was starting to get sick of school.

3:30pm — there was no one in his line of sight, so Emmanuel thought everyone had left.

4:14pm — that was the time he saw, when he checked his watch for the fourth time. His driver had already informed him earlier on, that he would be arriving late to pick him up, but he didn’t think this late.

It had been two hours and fourteen minutes since school closed, and he hadn’t been anything the whole time, except sitting in one position while frequently checking his watch.

He stood up and grabbed his bag, because if his driver came to pick him up now and he left his bag behind, he wouldn’t come back for it.

He walked down the hallways of his school aimlessly, and then he heard a sound coming from a particular classroom, when he walked further.

It sounded like a music he was familiar with. He walked closer to inspect, but discovered something else instead. A girl was dancing to the music, but the problem was, it was being played on a mini MP3.

Now, as one of the prefects, he had the duty of confiscating it. Students bringing their personal devices into school were prohibited.

Just as he was about to make a move, he froze in place when her face came into his view — his line of sight —. He couldn’t see her face before and now that he did, he was conflicted.

“Bluestone Alley” was the music she was dancing to. She was not a professional ballet dancer, but her dance was ballet.

He had an obligation to his duty as a prefect, but his heart interfered. He contemplated for a few minutes, before a thought flashed in his mind. ‘School had closed so it would be stupid to seize it now.’ Although it was against the rules, he decided to let it slide.

The girl, who had succeeded in stealing his heart without even trying, was dancing right in front of him.

Just as he was about to sit back and watch her dance, something unexpected happened and that left him…
