A loud sound accompanied by a clock chime startles and attracts the attention of Isoken. She takes a look at the wall clock, only to discover it was just 12:00 pm.
'Oh lord! why is time so slow today?'
Today was Monday, she had six more days to go before school resumed. She became excited, at the thought of resuming school.
Life is full of surprises. When she was in school, all she wanted to do was stay at home. And when she was at home, all she wanted to do was go back to school.
When she dreaded going back to school, time just seemed to run faster than when she was excited to go.
Hahaha… she laughed. If she told Ayomi this, her eldest brother, he would have laughed and said, "Such is life."
Isoken was bored. After staying at home for more than two weeks, it seemed as though she had already watched all the interesting movies at home, read all the novels available and she also had a lot of studying done.
She didn't have the liberty to go out of the house whenever she pleased, being the only girl out of three boys, she was restricted a lot.
She was feeling moody and decided to recall an event from the past. She thought back to when she started school and her experiences since then.
How did she even make friends with people to begin with?
In nursery and primary school, everyone played together then. In junior secondary, people started to form clicks and by senior secondary, everyone had successfully chosen who they called their friends.
Although she talked to others apart from the people she called friends, they were just acquaintances except their connection went deeper than that.
Her friends were Dami, Lola and Sonia. Dami was her seatmate in JSS1 and Lola was her seatmate in JSS3, while Sonia was originally Dami's seatmate in SS1 before she became her seatmate.
As they advanced to the next class, they were bound to interact with one another. Coincidentally, they all became closer, but that didn't mean they didn't have other friends.
Dami and Sonia were in Science class, Lola was in Social science, while Isoken was in Art class. They talked about everything and were almost inseparable.
Even though the week had just begun, she felt the need, urge to call them. But seeing as her mom was always with the phone, she needed her permission to do so.
She had called them somewhere in the middle of last week and they all told her about how they dreaded resumption, but were excited for the event that would be held this term.
She couldn't wait to see them, but most importantly, she couldn't wait to see him. His name was Tiwalade Emmanuel, It sounded right when it rolled off her lips.
They became friends not too long ago, this happened a few weeks to SS2 3rd term ending.
In SS2 1st term — she had watched a movie. It gave her the idea that love in highschool could end as a happily ever after, but the chances of that happening was low.
Suddenly, a day came when she looked at him and saw him in a different light.
She made a move to know more about him, as he picked her interest. And with this new found development, her feelings grew more intense for him.
Emmanuel was different from most guys. He was among the top 5 in his class, friendly with everyone and his kindness towards people was just through the roof. For her, he was just perfect.
He gave her his number when last term was about to end, SS3 1st term. She immediately memorized it, after he called it out.
She hadn't called him yet, because she was scared, but determined herself to call before the end of the week.
Just as she was thinking about him, an ugly memory passed her mind. She would never forget that day. It was what brought them closer, but also one of her most embarrassing memories, especially with him.
She doesn't know how she looks at him with a straight face after that day, but this was what happened.
