CHAPTER ONE

A slim figure rolled on the bed enjoying the blissful sleep. On the wall was a painting of a fox and other pictures. The room was done in grey and white. It was actually done in a basement setting. Bulbs in stringed wires were tied from the roof of the room to the bed, the same string tied to the hanging chair that was hung three steps from the bed. Beside the bed was the only large window/screen door that had two stars hanging above also leading to the garden.

In front of the bed was a transparent candlelight box, by the side a mistletoe tree, on one corner was a reading table with drawers and chair, a computer, books and box sat on the table. Facing the table on a wall were framed photos of quotes and one of her. To the left were three doors one leading to the bathroom, another to the closet and the last outside the room to the hallway.A large fluffy rug sat on the floor of the enormous room. A guitar against the wall.

'Grrrrrr grrrrr' the alarm clock on the bedside rang out. Her enormous silver eyes pop open. '7:00' the alarm showed She stretched yawning widely.

Her brown curls fell all over her face using one hands to push them away from her face, Brooklyn Cooper stood up and push the curtains open sunlight pours into the room making her squint her eyes as she hurriedly put on her glasses.

Brooklyn picks up her grey cat Kitty and scratch behind her ears just the way she likes it. Kitty purrs softly causing Brooklyn to laugh, she places her down and pours milk and cat food into her separate feeding bowl then turn on the stereo system pressing the play button on her iphone Chained to the rhythm by Katy Perry came on, she smile before going to brush her teeth and take her bath.

Brooklyn sneakered feets tap the floor as she ran to the kitchen, she found her mother had already set the table and was waiting for her.

"Good morning Mom," Brooklyn went around to hug and peck her Mother.

"Lynn! How are you! You look pretty this morning!" Melissa Cooper said touching her daughter's face.

"Thanks Mom. You look amazing too,"Brooklyn smile and took her place at the table. After her dad died in her junior year it has been her and her mom and she loved it that way. Her mom was a medical doctor who worked at a hospital two hours drive away from their home. She was one of the most sought after doctors in the whole district and was always working overtime but yet gave her all she wanted.

Melissa brushed off the compliment "Yeah yeah. But we're not talking about me. It's your first day in your senior year are you excited?" She ask dishing out the food for them.

Brooklyn nod "Yeah, I mean finally I'll done with school and go off to college but better am more than happy to leave high school." Sincerely she was happy that finally she would be out of high school and far away from this town. Not that she hated it, but Trenton New Jersey wasn't a place for her and held too much memories for her.

"Well that's good honey, I just want you to have fun at school okay? Be yourself, it's your final year you might want to live it to the fullest and honey get a boyfriend okay?" Melissa grin.

Brooklyn eyes widen. "Mom!!!"

Her mom burst into laughter.

"Are you serious mommy?" She frown.

"I am, honey you're 17 and you've never had a boyfriend! I wonder who's taking you to prom this year?" Melissa roll her eyes she loves her daughter and all but she wants her to live like every normal teenage girl out there. She knew Brooklyn still resented her dad's death but she still wanted her to live her life.

"Whatever mom, i have to go now," Brooklyn stood up and grabbed her backpack.

"Wait!!"

Melissa disappeared into her room and came back with a camera.

"Mom!!!"

"What?? It's for memories! My baby is finally a senior!" Melissa smile almost in tears, Brooklyn sigh and groaned as she posed for the picture. "Smile," her mom teased her.

She roll her eyes and gave her mother the best smile she had, after minutes of the photoshoot her mom finally let her go with tears in her eyes.

As usual her best friend Mackenzie Anderson was waiting for her in her old yet neat convertible Benz. Both girls have been friends since middle school and have been through thick and thin together.

"Get in loser!!" Kenzie shouts with her million dollar smile, Brooklyn roll her eyes and enters the car.

"Hey!" She greets her best friend.

Kenzie reached over and hugged her. "Oh Lynn I miss you!!" She whines pouting too. "Yeah me too and you look amazing!" Brooklyn smiles at her best friend.

Kenzie was one to dress like she was going to the mall not school with her short black and white plaid skirt, nude sweatshirt and sneakers. A nicely done makeup on her face.

Kenzie laugh. "Yeah I could say the same for you, only you look the same!"

Brooklyn frowns. "Now what wrong with my outfit?"

"Don't you think it's too casual?" Kenzie tsk, her friend had on a sweatshirt that said Tommy jeans, denim jeans, white sneakers and LV backpack. Her hair also in a ponytail, she knew that her friend doesn't like dressing up fancy just casual, never willing to take risk but loves playing safe.

"You need to start wearing makeup, Lynn we're in our senior year you might as well learn."she said.

"Hey! Am wearing lipstick and mascara that still counts right?" Brooklyn ask. Kenzie shook her head and starts the car "No it doesn't." she say finally.

"You need to start dressing up more cutely so that the boys will notice you."

"I don't want the boys to notice me," Brooklyn interrupts rolling her eyes at her friend, kenzie and boys was a powerful force to break. "Who needs boys anyway?" she scoffs.

"Well i do! We need a boy! Girl you've never dated anyone before!" Kenzie argued driving down the familiar road.

"Oh yeah? And have you?" Brooklyn fold her hands.

"Yes! Yes i have! Remember Dan? From summer school?" Kenzie defended. Brooklyn roll her eyes "Yeah he counts," she say sarcastically.

"I noted it," kenzie reach out and slapped her shoulder.

"Woah! Eyes on the road Mackenzie! Am not trying to die on my first day of senior year!" Brooklyn says, she hasn't achieved anything in life yet so she can't die young.

"Listen let's make a pact" Kenzie suggested.

Brooklyn shook her head. "Nope! The last time we made a pact I ended up as a scarecrow on the wiz show last year," she shudder at the thoughts.

Kenzie laughed. "Don't be a brat Brooklyn, we always make a pact every first day of school of the things to achieve."

"I don't see how being a scarecrow was an achievement."

"Whatever lynn we're making the pact now! We're going to swear to make the most of this year, try new things..."

"And stay away from scarecrows." Brooklyn injects.

"Don't interrupt me Lynn!!!!! As I was saying we'll try new things, live free and get a boyfriend!" Kenzie concluded, so happy about the pact she came up with.

Brooklyn on the other hand was fine with the pact until Kenzie mentioned the boyfriend part, why does everyone think she needed a boyfriend??

They were both complete opposite pair, while Kenzie likes talking about boys, parties, shopping Brooklyn prefers sitting in her room playing her guitar, reading her books or sleeping. Brooklyn loves Rnb music and have a secret obsession on Jhene Aiko her favorite musician and crush, Kenzie on the other hand loves blues and is obsessed with Harry Styles.

"Hey Lynn!! Don't zone out on me!! You have to swear!" Kenzie snap her fingers.

Brooklyn look around when did they reach the school?? "Ummm."

"Come on Cooper, swear on it" Kenzie grey eyes staring hard at me. "Okay. I swear."

"No uh I need your full name on it, come on." Kenzie tuts. Brooklyn roll her eyes "Okay! Fine! I, Brooklyn Cooper swears to hold on to the pact and won't be free from it until it's done," she swore.

Kenzie smile "I, Mackenzie Anderson swears to hold on to the pact and won't be free from it until it's done. Oh this is going to be the best year yet!" she said happily as they got down the from the car, enlink their arms and walk into the school.....

°°°°°°°°°

Trenton High School was a funny place filled with different characters and was a different world on it own. The school consisted of dramas, craziness and many more yet it was still a fun place to be.

Brooklyn and Kenzie stood side by side in front of their lockers arranging their books inside it.

"Look at her walking in like she owns the place," Kenzie says disgusted.

Brooklyn looks up. "Who?"

"Quinn of course!" She gestures for her friend to turn around.

Quinn Fabray the head of the cheerleaders and most popular girl in school, she had big blue eyes, ombre hair and wore the skimpiest clothes to school, she was also the richest girl too. She always dressed like she was going for a red carpet event not their casual school. Her dad owns the Fabray Restaurant, the most expensive one in Trenton too. She was well feared as no one dared cross her way.

"I so hate her!" Kenzie ball up her fist. "Come on Kenzie, she didn't do anything to you and besides we're hardly noticed in school anyway." Brooklyn roll her eyes.

"Yeah, you're right," Kenzie turn back to her locker sadly. They weren't ugly or nerdy they were just a bit socially awkward, well that's her because Brooklyn is an antisocial pessimist. They don't talk to anyone in school except when spoken to, they were just invisible but were straight A's students. It was an introvert and extrovert relationship with her as the extrovert and Brooklyn as the introvert.

"They here!!!!" Someone suddenly shouted and as both girls turn to the voice; The door push opens and in walk the most handsome, popular, richest kings of the school. Jamey Steele and Asher Adams.

Asher Adams father was the owner of Adams and co real estate, a multimillionaire firm that sold houses all over New Jersey, he had dark brown almost black hair, grey eyes and a cute smile. He was also MacKenzie's biggest crush, even since she set her eyes on him in freshman year, she couldn't stop thinking about him. She even had their future planned out already.

On the other hand was Jamey Steele, richer and more handsome than Asher himself. With abs, muscle and thick brown curls that mops around his eyes making him look mysterious. He was also the Mayor's son!!! Yeah the Mayor's son! Aside his father being a wealthy man and Mayor of Trenton, his mother was a powerful millionaire businesswoman known not just around New Jersey but the whole America!!

Both boys were muscular, tall, too handsome they should be on the cover of vogue not highschool, among the two Jamey stood out more because among all his handsomeness were his black mirror eyes. According to those who had the opportunity to look into the eyes, they always said that the eyes only showed the reflection of the beholder and one could get lost staring at those eyes.

Well Brooklyn hasn't tried to stare at it and didn't even bother to, she didn't even care about them although she has heard a lot about the popular duo she always prayed their parts never crossed and she has her invisibility to thank for that.

They always had everyone's attention whenever they walked in, even the teachers stopped teaching till they were seated to resume a lecture. They were so popular, girls wrote them love letters and guys beg for to be their friends, those who had the opportunity to talk to them were instantly popular but the only girl who had been seen too close to them was Quinn, there was no surprise as to why Kenzie hated her.

Both girls went back to arranging their locker as the kings passed them to their own locker.

As they passed, Jamey ignored the eyes of students who seem to worship him. He had his eyes forward on how to reach his lockers. How he hated school!!!

He caught up a scent too familiar and sweet he had to turn around to glance at the faces staring at him. It was mystery girl!!!! Excitement filled him as he set his eyes on a girl arranging her lockers, her back to him. He could not make out her face but her body told him it was her and he couldn't forget the sweet smell of her strawberry perfume.

He could've gone to her but Asher touched his hands nervously, it was then he realise that he had been staring at her and she didn't even look back at him.

He gave Asher an apologetic smile before they resumed their walking. God was he happy?? His mystery girl was right in his own school!!! God he thought he had lost her, guess he was wrong! The mystery girl was not a mystery after all..........
