CHAPTER TWO

Brooklyn walked talking the orders of the people that sat inside the Steele Cafe coffee shop. It was the biggest and busiest cafe owned by the Mayor of Trenton. And she worked there, it was really to get a job in the cafe because of the standard of the shop but the manager whom she called Gregg was her dad's best friend so after his death he employed her and thought her everything thereby making her the best coffee makers in Trenton.

The store was so filled today Mackenzie wondered what was the event,she also worked in the coffee shop just because her best friend worked there.

"Hey Lynn,new customer just arrived why not see what she wants?" Kenzie ask Lynn who was wiping the counter top while she was lounge on a stool.

Brooklyn frowns. "Do it yourself!"

"Come on Lynn my legs ache already," Kenzie gave her best friend the puppy eyes. Brooklyn shook her head and face the customer,she smile. "Welcome to Steele Cafe what would you like?"

"Vanilla bean frappachinno," the girl said. "Okay that would be three dollars,I'll have it brought up to you in two minutes," Brooklyn smiles at the girl, the girl paid and went to sit down.

Brooklyn turned to make her orders. Kenzie frowns and continued picking at her finger nails when the door opens and in walked the kings. Kenzie eyes widens,so those the people seated inside.

"Oh my God!! Look!! It's Jamey and Asher!!" She squeal completely fangirling as she gripped Brooklyn shoulders and shook her.

"Girl relax! So?" Brooklyn pushed her friend away and went back to making the frappachinno.

Kenzie stomped her feet. "So? So??! They're in the cafe and you're saying so??" She roll her eyes at her friend.

"Yeah Kenzie, what should I say?? Incase you've forgotten Jamey dad's own the cafe" Brooklyn shrugs and shook her head.

"Does not matter!!" Kenzie argued surprised that her friend was not interested in guys like she was. She saw another girl Mabel going to ask their orders.

"Lynn!! Quick!! Go take their orders," she grabs Lynn arm.

"Why me? Do it yourself kenzie," Lynn puts the girl's order on a tray. Kenzie grab the tray.

"Are you crazy!! I'll be standing like a moron in front of my crush since forever! Please Brooklyn,do it because you love me," Kenzie begged, truly she'll die in front of Asher's burning grey eyes.

"Well do it yourself or ask Mabel to do it! I have to deliver this," Brooklyn said.

"No! You do it! I'll deliver this myself!" she drag it out her hands.

Before Brooklyn could protest Kenzie already walked away. She sigh and grab the paper and pen then walked to their table.

"Hello, welcome to Steele Cafe, what would you like to order?" Brooklyn gave Asher her best customer's smile.

Asher smirk, "Yeah um" he look at the menu then back at her, "I can't really decide between the granite and green tea smoothie. Which do you recommend?" he smile at the pretty girl taking his orders.

"Well it depends on your favorite fruit and drinks actually" Brooklyn replied not returning his smile, the whole school knows that Asher Adams was a big flirt!

"Well am a huge fan of chocolate!" Asher winked at the girl who quickly wrote it down.

Brooklyn turns to the second person "And what would you like?"

Jamey didn't look up from his phone,he was busy typing on it and was so engrossed he didn't notice the girl that stood beside him.

Asher shook his head at his friend,he knew he was too engrossed and was not going answer.

"We'll have the same thing,thank you" he placed some money notes on the table and winked at Brooklyn who walked away.

"Yo! Dude! What's up with you?" he kick Jamey under the table. Jamey look up quickly and took the airpod out his ear.

"What?" he ask confuse.

Asher laugh, "You bastard! Man! That girl was asking your orders and you blacked out!" he shook his head and look at his own phone.

Jamey look around, "She's here!" he announced.

"What? Who's here?" Asher ask confuse.

"Mystery girl." Jamey say simply.

Asher shook his head. "Bro am telling Aunt Camille you're acting crazy." He say referring to Jamey's Mom.

Jamey shook his head. "Am fucking serious man, who was here now??" he asked sure that his mystery girl was around somewhere.

"A worker who came to take our orders" Asher shrug, "Dude you're crushing on a worker?" he burst into laughter making Jamey shake his head, his best friend was crazy.

"So how did it go?" Kenzie asked immediately Brooklyn returned.

"Two glass of granite smoothies." She said and start making it.

Kenzie roll her eyes. "God! Lynn! I meant how was talking to Asher like!!? Did you get the chills?" she ask smiling like an idiot.

"Oh you meant that? Well it's cool and why will i get the chills?" Brooklyn put her hands on her hips.

"Maybe because I like him! And he's cute!!" Kenzie roll her eyes.

Brooklyn laugh, "He didn't really say much just what he wanted to order."

"And what about Jamey?" Kenzie asked going crazy over her friend's nonchalant replies.

"He didn't say anything and........".

"Brooklyn can you come here for a sec?"Mr Gregory cut both of them short.

"Okay. Here Kenzie take it to them", Brooklyn wipes her hands on a napkin, Kenzie held her arm. "What? Why me? I can't face them especially Asher!!!"

"Come on Kenzie you can just act cool or better ask Mabel to do it then." Brooklyn said and walked away.

Kenzie stared at her feeling betrayed and scared. Mabel was smiling at her. She frown and grab the tray. You can do it Mackenzie! You can do it! She encouraged herself praying she does not trip or fall because she'll die of shame.

"Hey! Um this is your order" she placed it on the table, both guys stared at her.

"You weren't the one that came earlier." Jamey frowned and went back to typing on his phone.

Kenzie stared confuse. What?? "If that's all I'll leave now" she turn to leave.

"Wait!!" Asher stopped her, she shakingly turned.

"Yes?"

"This taste nice," Asher smiled, "what's your name?".

Kenzie eyes grew wide. "Kenzie! No! Mackenzie!" she stammered foolishly her face completely red.

Asher gave her his best smile. "Thank you Kenzie," he wink.

Mackenzie tried as much as possible not to scream as she walked back to the counter,did Asher Adams just wink at her?? God today was the happiest day of her life.

Next Day in School

"Am telling you Lynn! We're soul mates!!!" Kenzie claps her hands, "You should have seen the way he winked at me! God Asher winked at me!!" Kenzie say dreamingly, she couldn't stop smiling. Asher winked at her!! Her!!

Brooklyn shook her head, "Am so happy for you Kenzie, atleast you'll sleep well at night," she chuckle taking out her books.

"Sleep?? Girl I'll live forever! Asher winked at me!! Me!! Who would believe it!!??" Kenzie asked, she still found it difficult to believe that off all people Asher finally winked at her.

"He even said and i quote 'thank you Kenzie'!!! Like called my own name!!! God I'll die today!" she said jumping excitedly.

Brooklyn tried to steady only to bump into someone causing the person to squeal,slowly they turned and their eyes widen. Quinn Fabray stood glaring at them.

"Ohh mmyy God" Kenzie say in a low voice. "We're so sorry!..." Brooklyn began to say but Quinn raised her hands up abruptly stopping her.

Quinn dramatically pick up her phone and checked for a scratch,she found none but her bitch attitude wouldn't leave till she gave them a piece of her mind.

"You losers!!! How dare bump into me!!! Don't you know who I am???" Quinn screamed at them.

"Oh Quinn we're sorry,we......"

"Shut up!!! Shut up you stupid losers before I stomp your faces with my fist!!!" she threatened showing them her ringed balled up fist.

"I wonder what's going on"Jamey said they just arrived at their lockers to get their books but on getting there they met some girls fighting.

Asher shrug. 'Definitely Quinn reprimanding some girls" he shove his bag inside the locker and took out a book.

Jamey eyes caught the back of the girl, mystery girl! He strained to see her face but didn't, a part of him was running to the girl but he stood transfixed staring at her back.

Brooklyn frown, they apologized didn't they?? "Hey Quinn don't talk to my friend that way."

Quinn narrowed her eyes at the girl and moved closer, by now a small crowd has clustered about.

"Did you just talk back at me?" Quinn asked.

"Nooo she's....."

"Shut up!!! Let sharp mouth speak for herself!!" She yell at kenzie who shut up instantly looking away. Quinn turns to Brooklyn who just stared at her, "Well am listening, did you just talk back at me!!! You Frodo of Notre Dame!!!!" she spat glaring at the girl who just stared at her.

"Quasimodo."

"What????" Quinn looked confused. Kenzie couldn't help the grin that slip to her face as she turned to Brooklyn who had a smirk on her face.

"Quasimodo. Frodo is from the Lord of the rings. So Quasimodo is the hunch back of Notre Dame so I think you meant Quasimodo," She corrected/fires back at Quinn who looked entirely embarrassed as couple of oohs and ahhs filled the hall.

Brooklyn didn't just stop there she continued, "And i believe my friend and I just apologized to you so if you're not cool with it you might as well kick rocks!" she shot and took Kenzie's hands, "Excuse me."

They turned and walked the other way leaving Quinn transfixed with her mouth wide opened.

Kenzie tighten her hands on Brooklyn who gave her a sideways glance then she motion for her to look forward, Asher and Jamey were standing at the exit.

Oh God way to make things more awkward.

Jamey snicker as he watched Quinn got embarrassed, no hard feeling but he disliked Quinn's bitchy attitudes and watching his mystery girl drag Quinn from her high horse made himfall deeper for her.

His heart stopped when she turned flipping her hair in the process. God! How can someone be so beautiful??? Then she pulls her friend and they start coming for the entrance where he and Asher stood.

Jamey eyes widen with shock as mystery girl stood right in front of him. Quickly he accessed her, she had on a navy blue New York shirt, blue jeans and white vans. Her hair was flowing this time and she was drop dead gorgeous!!!!!

"Excuse me please" Brooklyn voice came out as a whisper or rather nothing came out.

She has never been so close to Jamey Steele before and standing before him made her nervous. He was staring at her! She wondered why but didn't care all that mattered to her was to run away.

Asher nudge Jamey who quickly stepped out of the way.

Brooklyn pulled nearly dragged Kenzie, once outside they both picked up track and ran as fast as their legs could carry them.

Jamey pull Asher into an empty class, "oh my God!!! It's her!! It's her!!" he screamed excitedly sounding like a girl.

Asher stare at him confuse, "It's who?? Who are you talking about man? You're making me confuse!" he was losing his mind because his friend already lost his.

"Mystery girl!! The girl have been telling you about!! The girl have been looking for!!" Jamey said shaking with joy! God he has finally seen his mystery girl!!

Asher eyes widen, "No way!!! You mean the girl that made you snuck is her????!!!!" He couldn't believe his ears, he thought his friend was actually making it up he didn't know he was serious.

"Yes! God! Isn't she gorgeous!!!" Jamey exhale day dreamily.

Asher frown, "You mean you have a crush on her??" He ask again to be sure he was hearing well.

Jamey frowned. "You know her???"

"Who doesn't know Brooklyn Cooper?? Man we've known each other since third grade!" Asher say with unbelievable tone

Jamey eyes widen again. "Really?? God! I never noticed her! I don't even know her name. How do you know her name??" he asked so curious.

"We were in the same Biology class last year and on God that girl is fucking intelligent!"

"A nerd?"

Asher shook his head, "Dunno, maybe but who cares she's a loser!"

"Asher!!" Jamey hit him on the chest, "This is my crush we're talking about! What do you mean she's a loser?"

Asher rub the spot Jamey hit, "She doesn't talk to anyone besides her friend and they act awkward. Do you know she never said a word to me or anyone when we were in biology last year??" Asher remembered Brooklyn not because he cared her or something but because she once helped him with his homework, though not directly.

Jamey nods, "Okay",he starts walking out.

"Yo man what do you plan to do?", Asher ask suspicious.

"You'll see, just wait and watch", he smirked and they walk out to their next class.....

Night time included Jamey laying on his bed staring at Brooklyn's picture. After he learnt her name, he searched every social media network till he saw her on IG.

He didn't follow her yet just saved her in his collections.

He clicked on a video, it was of her dancing 24k magic by Bruno Mars with her friend who he found out was Mackenzie Anderson. He laughed and replayed it over and over again.

God she was so beautiful.

Jamey came upon a video of her playing guitar and singing Ave Maria by Beyonce. Her voice was magical!! God was she perfect??

He downloaded all the videos and pictures so he watch them again and again.

Oh he wanted her, he wants her to be his girlfriend! If he was ever told that he Jamey Steele would be in love with a girl who doesn't even notice him or like him he'll never believe it.

For the life of him, he likes the school antisocial pessimist, the girl no one noticed, the girl no one likes or talks to or about is the Girl he admires???????
