Chapter 8: “Are You Cold?”

Scarlet’s pov

I made my way to the back of the hall, thanking all my previous date experiences to know that it was the best place for some flirting without disturbing or getting disturbed by anyone else.

Our seat was in the dark corner out of any wandering eyes reach and only a couple sat down from us five seats away.

Andrew had paid for the tickets but he had asked me to pick the seats. Luck must be on my side because that helped me to get us secluded and have a little alone time.

This was a tactic I had seen my previous dates use to make out discretely and even though I wasn’t planning on doing that with him I surely wanted to flirt with him freely.

Sitting down in my seat I quickly adjusted myself to get more comfortable. Taking the seat next to mine he gave me a small smile and I handed him the big box of popcorn while placing the drink in the cup holder.

“Where is the other box of popcorn and drink?” he asked sounding genuinely confused. It seemed like he was really not

into the dating game for a long time otherwise anybody else would have immediately understood my motives behind this.

Was he actually this innocent?

I had argued with him to let me buy the snacks because he had bought the tickets. It was partly because I had to buy certain items to make it work according to my plan and partly because it would hurt my ego.

I didn’t like using others money if I am capable of spending some of my own.

The lights were switched off as the advertisements started to play on the big screen. It took a few seconds for my eyes to refocus in the dim light, but he was still waiting for my answer after taking a look around.

“I thought that we could share together, after all you know sharing is caring.” I said giving him the most innocent look I could muster.

My answer must have satisfied his curiosity because he immediately sat up a little straight and nodded his head in affirmation.

“Of course, we can do that,” he said seeming much happier at the prospect of me ‘caring’ enough to be sharing stuff.

We had decided to watch a random romance comedy that was put on for the night. I didn’t even like romantic movies much; I was more into the thriller and horror kind. That being said I didn’t even bother to know the title of the movie. I just went with whatever he chose.

He was not inconsiderate though as he had kindly asked for my opinion, but I dismissed it by saying that he took me on this date, so he should decide. He must have pegged me as a Rom-com girl, why and how I don’t even bother to know.

I had for a moment thought that watching the horror movie playing in the next hall must be so much more fun but that wouldn’t help me in my plan to be all lovey-dovey with him today and I was not here looking for fun I was here on a mission.

I had for an instant thought that playing the scared girl role would help me to get more of his affection and attention. I could even jump in his arms stating that I am scared but I couldn’t for the love of god disrespect my love for horror movies like that.

I wasn’t that type of girl and I could never even imagine myself to be one.

That thought made me shiver in disgust.

“Are you cold?” Andrew asked softly, most probably sensing me shiver.

It was only then that I noticed that the movie had started, and I had spaced out for quite some time. I nodded my head even though I didn’t mind the current atmosphere. He instantly started to remove his jacket regardless that he only wore a thin t-shirt under it.

“Stop! You don’t need to give me your jacket or else you will feel cold without it,” I whisper yelled.

Stopping his movements, he complained, “But you are cold.”

I didn’t like the concerned look in his eyes.

Ignoring that I smirked at the opportunity this situation had presented.

Raising the armrest in between us I shifted towards him and said, “You can put your arm around me, I think it will help me to warm up.”

Catching my flirtatious tone his eyes widened and he cleared his throat a bit before slowly placing his arms around me. I snuggled up a bit closer to him not entirely touching him but enough to feel his warm presence.

It felt different, to be in his arms that is. He didn’t once try to take advantage of my position and simply watched the movie, sometimes smiling down at me and other times paying attention on the screen.

Warmth spread from his arm and travelled through my body, but it couldn’t reach my heart. I had made up my mind and nothing he did would change that.

He was a boy after all and I had decided to hurt them.

A small voice said in the back of my mind that he had not done anything to harm me. That voice for some annoying reason sounded like Blu’s and I shoved it back far away from where it came.

Even I never harmed any of the damn boys who hurt me, but they didn’t stop to think once about me or my feelings so why should I?

It was time to use some other tactics.

I noticed that he was slowly munching on the popcorn sitting on his lap and I decided that this could be used in my favor too.

I slowly slipped my hand in the box and as soon as he did, our hands touched each other’s, and he looked down at me blushing a bit.

Staring him in his eyes I kept his gaze while softly running my fingers over his palm and then smiling at him I pulled out a small amount of popcorn in my hand while placing a single kernel in my mouth and softly chewed on it. His eyes travelled from my eyes to my lips and he stared for a few second before snapping it back to my eyes.

He gulped and looked away while running a hand through his hair indicating that he was flustered.

I grinned to myself and passed him the drink which he took from me without sparing me a glance, but he did mumble a small thank you.

Passing it back to me he looked at me and I quickly took the drink from him and placed the straw between my puckered lips and took a long sip from it while keeping eye contact with him all the time.

When I placed the drink back in its place he was still staring at me his pink lips a little parted. I knew it was cruel to tease someone, but it was just so much fun with him.

Pulling him by his t-shirt a little closer to me I whispered to him, “Do you know we just shared an indirect kiss?”

Unable to say anything he just nodded his head. Tilting my head a little up and pulling him down a little more so that only a silver of space left between us, I asked, “Do you wanna kiss me for real?”

“Yes,” he murmured softly not trying to break the moment.

“Then you have to be patient because good things come last,” I say winking at him while pulling away.

Closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath he finally relaxed and warmly stated, “Then I am willing to wait and work for it for however long you want me to.”

I wasn’t expecting an answer like that I wanted him to be a little frustrated with me and lash out a little to show his true colors, but this man was either really patient and a good actor or he was genuine.

I didn’t want to believe that it was the latter of the two.

I didn’t bother him after that in fear that I would get another unwanted reaction and I would ruin my plan entirely by doing something dumb like confronting him on his behavior.
