Chapter 30 - The Miscarried

A few months after their marriage, Zen felt Daisy's stomach was not developing like pregnant women in general. He intended to take Daisy to the hospital to check on her. But before checking, Zen had to ask Daisy first. Does she feel the same or not.

When Zen was about to enter the room, he saw Daisy in the mirror. Staring at her naked belly and stroking it. His eyes narrowed and Daisy caught Zen's half body peeking at her.

"Come in," said Daisy.

"Do you feel it too?" Zen asked.

"Feel what?"

"Your stomach isn't growing?"

Daisy nodded hesitantly and she kept staring at her stomach. "Should we go to the doctor?"

"Come on, get ready!" Zen immediately grabbed his car keys before Daisy asked the question. He is very alert and thinks about the negative things that are on his mind.

Meanwhile, Daisy was busy with her thoughts. She didn't feel any movement or her pregnancy stuff. All she felt was feeling weak all the time. It's weird, she thought. Everyone was busy alone with their thoughts until the car stopped in the hospital parking lot, Daisy turned to Zen.

"W-what if our baby dies inside?" Daisy asked quivering.

"Shhh... Daisy, we'll find out soon enough. Don't speculate too much, ok?" Daisy nodded in resignation even though her instincts were going that way.

When it was their turn to be called, Daisy's heart beat faster. It was time for Daisy's stomach to have an ultrasound. Doctor Erwin frowned as he stared at the screen in front of him. He glanced at Zen and Daisy alternately now and then until they finally moved to sit at the table in front of doctor Erwin.

"How about it, doctor?" Daisy asked impatiently.

Doctor Erwin sighed. "Sorry in advance, Mrs. Daisy, Mr. Zen... the fetus in your stomach is not developing. It means you miscarried," explained Dr. Erwin in a hoarse voice.

Without any response, Daisy suddenly collapsed on Zen's shoulder. Zen immediately rushed to take Daisy to the emergency room according to doctor Erwin's advice. Even so, doctor Erwin continued to treat Daisy and postponed his scheduled appointment for the next hour with the other patients.

After making sure Daisy was ok, doctor Erwin spoke to Zen seriously. "This started when her pregnancy weakened, Mr. Zen. I was not sure about Mrs. Daisy's condition until today you came to me," said doctor Erwin.

"What we have to do, then?"

"We have to do a curettage on her uterus. It's best to do it at this time when Mrs. Daisy faints. General anesthesia on her to reduce the weakening effect as well."

Zen seemed to think about doctor Erwin's words. The two of them looked at Daisy at the same time. Zen knew the pain Daisy was feeling. At first, Daisy didn't want it and she desperately wanted to give birth to a child until the bad news was finally conveyed.

Similarly, Zen feels stressed. He thought he could have a child he could raise with his hands with Daisy because he couldn't do it on Vista. But, that hope was dashed.

"Alright, doc. Do what's best for Daisy. I agree to do it now," Zen said firmly with a nod of his head.

"Okay sir, I will prepare some things first, I'll excuse myself."

"Wait, doc. One question," said Zen, stopping doctor Erwin.

Doctor Erwin nodded at Zen. "Please, sir."

"Is that how she can get pregnant again?"

"You can, Mr. Zen. But it's better to wait another three to six months to prepare the reproductive organs thoroughly after a miscarriage," explained Dr. Erwin.

Zen nodded in understanding and the doctor left him to prepare everything.

While waiting for the curettage to finish, Zen contacted Neva and Weiske. After they met, they seemed sad to hear that Daisy had miscarried. Especially Weiske who was devastated by the news. She cried non-stop.

"Done sir, Mrs. Daisy will be transferred to the inpatient room in fifteen minutes. Currently, she is not conscious. I ask someone for help, comfort her later. I'm sorry," said doctor Erwin who came out of the curette room and left them.

When Daisy had been moved to the guest room, Zen remained seated by her side. Holding Daisy's one hand that was free from the infusion while Neva and Weiske sat on the available sofa with a dazed look at Daisy.

A few hours after the curettage, Daisy awoke. She didn't speak right away but just kept quiet as tears fell from her eyes in the corners. Zen stroked the back of Daisy's hand and kissed it a few times.

"Maybe I'm too weak to get pregnant," Daisy said as she stopped shaking with sobs.

"Shhh... it's not our destiny now to have children. Sooner or later we will surely be given," said Zen comforting.

After coming home from the hospital, Daisy just sat on the sofa. Sitting staring at the television that is not on. Her body was thin and her face looked very pale. Moreover, his two eye bags showed black color.

Zen who looked at the sad look, also had an idea to make Daisy's mood peaceful again.

"Come on, Daisy. Come with me," said Zen who was already neatly dressed.

"Where are we going?" Daisy asked quietly.

"Refreshing. Come on!" Daisy just glanced at Zen's floating hand to ask her out. But Daisy shook her head weakly.

"Zen... do you have any acquaintances with a modeling agency or something? Please include me in it. I... need my stress release," Daisy asked suddenly.

Zen just stood still. His body hardened and his hands clenched into fists. He does have a significant relationship, including a model photo agency. But seeing his wife become a model? It seemed impossible.

"No. You don't have to be a model, Daisy. I can find something else," Zen refused loudly.

"Please. Just until I feel the stress go away. I need something busy."

"And ignore me? No!" Zen insisted on rejecting her because he was more afraid of Daisy ignoring him.

Daisy stood up and looked at Zen gently. Her eyes were droopy and she looked tired. But her beauty never goes away. "I won't ignore you. Please. You can schedule the photoshoot later according to the time you have. So you can keep an eye on me," Daisy explained comforting Zen's anger. Daisy's hands touched both of Zen's cheeks, transmitting a stinging warmth until Zen calmed down.

"I need some time to think. But in between, I beg you to take care of your health. Make me believe that you will stay healthy no matter what," Zen said then went to his room and closed the door.

In the room, Zen fiddled with his cell phone and looked for the contacts of a modeling photo agency that had used him for an advertisement for a men's product.

Gery's name appeared on the screen and he immediately contacted him. Soon the connection was successful until Gery's voice was heard.

"What's the wind, Zen?" asked Gery in her cheerful voice.

"Do you need a female model or not?" asked Zen carelessly.

"Well, I happen to need it. Why? Do you have a candidate?"

At first, Zen was doubtful, would he take the step? But he did it to make Daisy less stressed. After all, he could have followed Daisy's advice earlier.

"Yes, my wife. Daisy," Zen answered hoarsely.
