Chapter 5: Revealed

I jumped alert as my phone shrilled its annoying ringtone that was my alarm. I groaned and reached over to shut it off. I did not want to go back to school today. I had missed yesterday because of being admitted into the hospital, so it was best that I went today to get caught up on the homework that I was behind on.

I groaned again and sat up... In my bed. My eyed widened as I realized that I had fallen asleep on the couch last night. How the hell did I get here?? I pulled the covers off my legs and swung them over the side of the bed. I listened to see if there was anyone in the house. To add to my unease, there wasn't.

I tiptoed to the door that leads out to my bedroom and made my way down the hallway. I peeked around the corner into the living room and kitchen. There was no sign of life anywhere. I shook my head, confused. Maybe I woke up and went to room, I just don't remember. I accepted that because that sounded better than someone coming into my house and moving me.

I noticed that I was still wearing my bloodied clothes from the day before, so I forced myself into the shower to wash that memory away. It didn't help, but I tried my best. I dressed without incident and made my way back into the kitchen to grab a banana off the counter.

My phone beeped at my, notifying me that I had received a text message. As soon as I opened it up, I smiled. It was my mom. Good morning, sweetheart. I hope you have a great day! I'm sorry I didn't get a hold of you sooner; I was insanely busy with work and all. I hope you're feeling better and I will call you after you get out of school. Love you, honey.

I texted a quick I love you, too before I slid my phone back into my pants pocket.

I made my way out the door and walked down the sidewalk towards the school. It wasn't far, maybe a mile, from my house. I wasn't complaining though. This gave me time to get prepared for long and boring day I was about to get handed to me.

Lost deep in thought, I didn't even notice when a black truck had pulled off to my side of the road and was slowly driving next to me. They rolled down the window and shouted over the loud muffler, "Nova! You want a ride?"

I jumped, removed from my thoughts, and looked over. It was Abe. I rolled my eyes at him but I accepted and hopped in.

"I'm glad you accepted. I was about to get out and haul you over my shoulder to get you in here. I wasn't going to take no as an answer." He laughed hard at that but stepped on the gas to get the truck moving again.

I shook my head at him. "Thank you, Abe. You didn't have to go out of your way to just give me a ride to school."

He smirked and glanced over at me. "It's my pleasure. Plus, I kind of have to explain to your school why you weren't there yesterday."

I groaned. I hadn't thought about that making me glad he was here for me. I doubt anyone told the principle that I was absent due to an emergency. My parents wouldn't of, they were always too busy at work for me. I sighed and looked out the window. Abe pulled into the parking lot and parked right out front…. Right in front of looming eyes of the students at my school. I groaned again and ignored everyone as I opened Abe's door to his truck.

Abe reached my side of truck just as I set my foot down on the pavement. He grabbed my hand to help me down. I gave him my biggest smile, "I'm not broken, you know. I am more than capable of helping myself out of your truck."

He nodded. "I know you are, but you are important to me. I want to make sure you're safe at all times from now on."

Rosa sighed in astonishment. How could you ever walk away from anyone as sweet as him? I shoved her away ignoring her comment and allowed Abe to help me out. He shut the truck door and ran to open the entrance door for me as well. I rolled my eyes at him. "Thank you, Abe."

I entered the building just to feel more eyes fall on us. There were some hushed whispers, but due to them not knowing what I am, didn't know I could hear them. "Who is that hunk and why is he with her? He could do a lot better than that… maybe it's her cousin? I don't know he was holding her hand and helping her out of his truck…" I spaced the comments out and turned to Abe. "Can we hurry this along? I'm get a lot more attention than I'm wanting right now."

I turned and hurried to the office to talk to the principle. I didn't have to turn around to see if he followed, Rosa knew he was. She has been keeping track of her mate as much as possible. Stalker, I mocked her, smiling internally at her. So what? You'll be this way soon also. I just can't wait to meet his wolf face-to-face. You're lucky you get to see yours all the time. She pouted and went back to the back of my mind not saying another word.

I sighed. She was more of a baby than I was, but I guess that's why the Goddesses they make our wolves our opposites. I trudged into the office with Abe close behind.

The secretary looked up as we entered. "Good morning, Miss Alberts." Her green eyes made their way over to Abe. "Mr. Michaels."

Abe nodded in acknowledgement. "Suzy."

I looked over at Abe with a confused expression. How do they know each other? He noticed but waved it off as an I will tell you later motion. I reluctantly nodded. "We would like to speak with Principle Adams pertaining to my absence from school yesterday."

"Oh, yes. He's back in his office now If you just want to go ahead and go in."

"Okay." We made our way back and before I could knock on the door Mr. Adams stepped out.

"Al- Abe and Nova. How are you both doing today? I was just about to go see if I could find you, Nova. I was worried about you all day, not hearing from you or your parents as to why you didn't make it in yesterday." I gapped at him. Abe knows him, too?

I shook my head but didn't question it any further. "Yes, sir. That's why Abe and I are here actually. We wanted to explain to you what happened."

"Please, please. Come in. Make yourself at home."

We did as he said, and Abe retold the story of the occurrence that took place yesterday without any hesitation. It was almost as if he had it etched in his brain. I didn't have to worry about filling in on any of it, Abe covered every detail. That's because he's our mate and he was worried about us the entire time. Rosa finally spoke again, slight aggravation in her voice.

Mr. Adams nodded his head when Abe finished his story. "Well, Nova, I will write your absence off as school approved and it won't affect any of your classes. I will let your teachers know as soon as we are done here that you are excused from any assignments that weren't turned in on time. I'm glad that our Alpha-"He cut off and his eyes widened as he realized what he told me.

I glared over at Abe. "Alpha, huh?" I knew I felt power emit from him, but I didn't realize it he would have been that high up in the pack.

Abe glanced at me before he glanced back at Mr. Adams. "Well, thanks you. I will discuss this with you later. I am going to pull Nova out of school for the day so I have time to explain what you exposed to her."

Mr. Adams nodded. "Yes, sir. I apologize. I will get all of her homework rounded up if you would just like to pick it up later, Nova."

I gapped at them both. That's it? All Abe had to do was request for me to leave school and I can?

"Whatever. I'm not listening to this." I stood and exited that office and made my way to the entrance. I was about to explode. He couldn't tell me that he was an Alpha first hand, what else was he keeping from me?
