It felt like this building was very familiar. Once my gaze landed on a man dressed in a ruby red tunic, pieces of information started coming together in my mind. Golden swirls of raging flames danced a vigorous choreography in the front of his suit while designs of dragons slithering in the air decorated his sleeves. He had his graying hair tied into a formal bun and his well maintained beard and mustache connected at the tips as they fell gracefully to his neck. The man's sword like eyebrows were raised in joy with grey eyes lit with excitement.
At that moment Melia knew she fucked up.
just kidding
At that moment it finally clicked on who he was. Like a missing jigsaw found again, my mind exploded in shock.
This was the Kristonian Empire's first recorded Emperor in history, father to my daddy and Grandfather to me. Daijō Tennō Aero Huang.
"Father, how are you?" Daddy asked with a bow. Keep in mind that he's still holding me in his arms.
"No need to be so formal son, it is only the three of us out here." Really? tell that to the fifty or so martial artists guarding the courtyard.
Sorry about my attitude, as I said I'm very cranky when I don't get enough sleep.
"I apologize father, just haven't seen you in a while."
"No worries! Let's chat some more inside. Away from those lazy ruffians." The soldiers' stern masks crack, revealing a rare expression of shock.
"Yeah, that's right, you heard me! Don't think I didn't see you guys the other day sleeping out in the trees. Hmph, bunch of mindless b-...." Father interrupts him before he could finish. His gaze landing on me to the old man and the old man to me.
Aww man! I wanted to hear what he was gonna sayyyyyyy.
"Dad, come on. We're going inside. Don't want the chrysanthemum tea to get cold." Catching the hidden meaning behind dad's actions, he agrees.
We walk inside and I take the time to admire my visual surroundings. Countless maids and male servants shuffle around with their heads bowed. They pay close attention to their jobs while also trying not to disrespect us.
aaahhhhh the wonders of being a royal.
Finally grandfather leads us to the guest hall. we take our seats with Grandad at the head, an elderly lady whom I'm assuming is my grandmother, the empress dowager Evelina Huang next to him while daddy and I sit on opposite sides of the long oakwood table. Of course they place me in a booster chair next to grandma. so cliche.
"Is this my grandchild!? Oh she is so cute. Just look at her plump body.
I can see someone's been drinking their milk."
Not willingly I tell you. I was forced and coerced!!!!!
"Yes mom. We made sure to feed Melly fully."
"Well done my boy." Grandad compliments.
Are you people that forgetful. He has a son already of course he should know what to do.
"By the way, Mel has recently. started speaking today. It was spectacular. She shocked the day lights out of those stuck up officials."
"Haha, wish I was there. Those scheming snakes only know how to complain and sell their off springs for higher positions in court." Grandfather starts laughing as he sips his water. Sadly, he choked. Coughing up a storm.
See what I'd tell ya!
"Did you just say my grandaughter can talk." The elderly lady's slanted eyes stare at me and I feel cold sweat run down my back. Gulp.
"Quick, quick say Hi Grammy." Her voice is sugary sweet to the point that you'll find yourself getting a cavity. For some reason though I have the urge to keep her happy.
"Hi Gramwy!" I say in my baby voice. Puffing out my chubby cheeks to their fullest copacity in order to show of my best assets.
"Awwww she's too cute. I just want to eat her up and squeeze those doughy buns of hers." She does exactly as she said would. Her manicured hands squeezing my sensitive skin to the point of redness.
"They look like ripe apples now. Hahaha." daddy laughs.
I've never been so humiliated in my life.
"Woman! Have you no shame. She is my granddaughter too. Its only fair that you share her with her favorite pops." More like only pops.
His outburst wipes the grin off of grammy's slightly wrinkled face and she grumbles under her breathe, going on about how shameless he is and saying he needs to get some friends in his lonely life.
Grammy if you keep this up, I think that we may end up being very close friends.
Unwillingly after much thought she hands me to Grandfather. He holds me with his calloused hands, aged from years of writing paper work and handling swords. I can't help but notice how long and soft his beard is. It is just begging to be pulled. So what do I do in situations like these you ask? Obviously I tug on the hairs.
"Ouch!" Apologies grandfather it was just so alluring. I then put the gray strands in my mouth. My gums chewing up a storm.
"Oh dear no! Don't put that in your mouth. Its filthy!" Grammy complains.
"Old woman! What do you know. I am very clean. Immaculate some may say. Melly don't listen to her, she doesn't know what she is talking about." Grandfather glares at Grammy but the old woman repeats the gesture. Granddad loses in the end though.
"Hmph, shameless." He grumbles.
"Melly my dear, Say Hello to Grandpa okay?"
I smile up at him, giving the audience a full view of my toothless mouth. To be honest I feel very happy at all the attention I'm getting.
"Otay Grampa! Hi Granta!!!!" The word grandpa is too hard a word for me to say so I take the easier way out. Being more cuter than I intended to be. He doesn't seem to care though, grinning from ear to ear none the less.
Grampa why are you and daddy covering your nose.
