Dungeon exploiting

(A/N Notes: You guys read it right, it's exploiting, not exploring, know the difference since Dungeon are made to be exploited and not explored

Red was in the first city, with a boot in his hand as he tried to find out what it was for...

"This boot... What does this boot means, game!?"

And to parody a certain phrase of a certain FPS franchise set in the cold war

"This boot is definitely the starting condition for some hidden quest, so time to explore the city, something that I have been postponing since day 1!"

And with that, he left the plaza and started walking into the alleyways, with the boot in hands in the hope of starting the quest

"Hello, fellow adventurer"

"Huh?"

Then a random guard talked to him

"I used to be an adventurer like you then I took an arrow-"

"In the knee?"

"In the rear"

"Now, that's new"

"That boot on your hand... It looks very similar to the boot I once lost at the plains"

[The lost boot, would you like to start this quest? (Yes/No)]

*Presses the yes* "I think this boot is actually yours"

Red did as the mission log said, and it said for him to give the boot to the guard

"Oh my! It really is my boot! Than- fell- adv- so- dungeon- north- a-"

Red just kept pressing the skip button, because he wasn't too keen on listening to the voice of an old man, nor hearing a boring conversation

"I wish you luck on your journey, fellow adventurer"

And his mission log, updated and showed where he should go next, so he bought some necessary supplies, and went there, he collected a bunch of trash on the way there, and when he finally arrived at the location

"It's showtime!"

He immediately entered the dungeon, and he saw it was the type of dungeon where AoE attacks were especially deadly, so he immediately knew what to do...

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! BURN! BUUUUUUURN!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

And it was to use his fire magic like a flamethrower, he kept going forward until he found a side room with a chest inside, so he went inside it

"..." *Old west background music playing* "SORYA!" *Activates guard breaker*

He swung his ax at the chest, and nothing happened. So he opened it after confirming it wasn't a mimic, and he found a sword and shield

"... *Looks at the sword* Metal fodder *looks at the shield* Might come in handy later"

And he went back to American in Vietnam simulator, after some minutes of indiscriminate killing, he finally arrived at the boss room

"Oh! Challenger-"

"DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA!!!"

He skipped the boss introduction line and went to shoot all of his arrows with quickdraw at the boss until the boss health bar dropped to zero. But the boss entered on his second stage, that was immune to arrows

"I'm surprised-"

"RATATATATATTATATATATATATTATATATATA *gulp gulp gulp* Haa... RATATATATTATATATATATATATATATATATTA!!!"

He skipped the boss line again and went to shoot his magic at the boss while using his mana potions to recharge his mana until he dropped the boss health to zero again

"This can't be-"

[Level up, you are now level 14]

And he skipped the boss death line and went to check his loot after receiving the notification of his level up, and when he opened the chest

[You received 4 skill points]

"Huh? That's great, now I can use to buy new skills or upgrade my current ones, let's see what else I got here"

He found some gold, and...

*Zeld4 item acquiring sound* [You acquired Ancient leather gauntlets]

"... Well, better than a sword... And I can use for slapping..."

And as he was about to leave the dungeon, he heard a sound similar to his doorbell ring

"That sounds like my doorbell... Oh, shi-"

So instead of leaving the dungeon he directly logged out and removed his VR headgear to attend the front door

A few minutes later

"Whew! Thank god the package arrived right before I left the dungeon, or else I would be stuck at the loading screen and have to wait for who knows how long to get the package"

Riku then put on his VR headgear again and logged back into the game, and he found himself inside the boss room

"Oh! Challenger-"

"Ah shit, here we go again."

His 2nd round was slightly faster than the first one, and again he opened the chest

[You received 4 skill points]

*Didn't see the message since he was looking at the loot screen* "And the loot is... Some set of special arrows!... Meh, could be something more interesting"

Before he left the dungeon he decided to check his status, and then he noticed something strange

"Hm? I have 8 skill points to use?"

He was a bit skeptical when he saw that so, he decided to dump all his skill points on one of his skills to check if it was only a visual bug

"One, two, three, and four points on axemanship... one more point and I can upgrade it..."

And he saw that it was saying he still had four points to use, so he decided to put one more point on his axemanship to make sure

[Do you want to spend 1 skill point on axemanship? (Yes/No)]

"Yes"

[Axmaship raised one level, level 10. You can now choose between two-handed ax or one-handed ax]

"It works... It works!... *Evil smile forming on his face* Time for some boss bullying!... And One-handed ax please"

[You chose one-handed ax, are you sure you want to proceed? (Yes/No)]

"Yes, please"

[Axmanship was changed to one-handed axmanship] [You unlocked the passive skill dual-wielding] [You unlocked the hatchet]

Red then spent his three remaining points to unlock Shieldmanship, spearmanship, and strength boost

*Logs out* *logs back in*

"Oh! Challenger-"

"It's showtime..." *puts on his sunglasses*

And he spent the rest of his time in the game exploiting the dungeon boss, and when he needed to leave he found out that as long as he didn't kill the boss he could leave and come back later

two weeks later

{Dear players,

It came to our attention that the special mission The lost boot had a serious bug, more specifically the dungeon part of the mission, had a bug that allowed you two fight the boss multiple times if you logged out while still inside the dungeon, allowing players to obtain the rewards of the boss multiple times. So we'll be fixing this bug on our scheduled server maintenance of month xx on day xx, the server will be down during the 00:00 to 10:00 UTC -8, we are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused by this bug

Sincerely, Dev team}

Riku who was reading the message from yesterday could only do the face of Dicuprio in the movie Free Djengo that became a meme

Because he was also reading the forum threads of the game, and most people who happened to find the missing boot of the guard, either completed the quest like normal, or threw the boot away, or simply sold it for a little cash. And today's main thread was all about the bug of the mission, that was on complete fire thanks to his anonymous comment saying that you could repeatedly get 4 skill points every time the reward chest was opened

"I wonder who the monster was to cause all this ruckus, heh"

(A/N Notes: I mean he's not wrong, everyone exploits a mechanic when they can)
