Chapter  3-  I never wanted to be the hero . 

It's the morning and the Bunny girl wakes up after a long night of sleep to find herself in a room with a demon lord and a blond elf .

" You're finally awake " Said Celestine .

" Where am i . what happened ? " she replied

Variys walk to the bed she was on and stand in front of her giving her a cold look

" you are in a hotel room . we brought you here After you Lost conscious yesterday " he said

" Don't you remember what happened ?? "

" Not Much , All i remember is a red diamond & …people screaming ..."

She then stood up really fast gasping as she just realized what really happened the day before , only to feel her blood pressure rising which lead to her loosing balance & falling right back at Celestine arms who jumps to her aid .

" Are you okay … you are still worn out , you should take more rest "

" Cele go get her some food and some water she seems tired " said variys

" okaay .." she replied As she was leaving the room . she picks up a pocket full of coins & turns to him .

" Lucky for us , we took Money from the hunters That attacked you last night, am i right ?. variys sama "

" Yeah ... " he replies embarrassed as the thinks to Himself

'it's definitely not my proudest moment but it Was necessary or else i was going to die from starvation . plus I'm a demon lord so this is probably a low standard crime for my kind …. '

" the hunters , are they okay !? " asked the bunny girl anxiously

" Yeah . Cele used healing Magic afterward so there wasn't any casualties ... But you still did do a lot of damage . "

She seems reassured after hearing that and lets off a relief breath

" Thank God !! "

Variys stares at her for a moment and then asks

" You were being controlled weren't you ? "

as soon as he said that She glance at him then looks back down at the floor precariousness in uncertainty

" I'm not sure ... All i remember is That the moment i put the collar i felt immense power ... I did want to hurt those hunters for what they did to me... But that was about it , it wasn't my intention to take their life .. I'm terribly sorry .."

" Don't apologies to me , I only got involve because you showed up on the guild's billboard , by the way … That Collar you was wearing ,Where did you get it from ? ... " he asked

" ... " she seems hesitant to answer but he isn't willing to let it go .

" That was a powerful dark item ... If it wasn't for us, you would be dead ... " he said

" Dark items tend to drain life energy from its user ! if we didn't show up in time, you would be long gone . "

after he said that she became inarticulate , almost speechless as she looked back at him " Drain ... Life energy ... "

" yeah . and since you seem surprised , it means That you didn't know that, which also mean that you found that item somewhere , or was given to you … By someone who clearly isn't your friend !''

" You wouldn't understand ... " she replied

" Probably not ..., Anyway , i talked with the Guild post and explained the situation about the crimson diamond & got it all sorted out , they said that they will monitor you for any suspicious behavior , but for what it's worth you don't have to worry about anyone jumping behind you , you are free to go out whenever you wish to do so . "

" Thank You , Well then i Guess i will leave now , I don't want to overdue my stay in here , the sooner I leave the better …" she said as she tried to get up only to feel light – headed & her vision became blurry again which lead to her tripping and falling aside

" Wait you still need to rest … " said variys while reaching for her , yet somehow he also tripped by the side of the bed making both of them fall on the ground …

" im baaaack " said Celestine said as she opened the Door with food in her hand , Only to find the variys on top of the bunny girl with his hand grabbing her breast and other one on her behind "

Variys is in flummoxed by the unexpected turn of event as he doesn't understand how this situation came to be , yet he can only feel contented as he felt the soft cleavage of the girl in his palm .

' God i know I'm a demon lord . but thank you so much for this blessing ' he thinks to himself while looking back at the Bunny girl as her face turns red from blushing , letting off a cute" Ummmmm .. could you please … let go of me …"

He is star stroke by the cuteness of this beautiful creature & her dazzling voice only to be interrupted by the dark atmosphere in the room coming from Celestine.

" Youuuu .... "

" Wait Cele .... It's not what you think ... She just ... Fainted ... "

" W…What ….. What the Hell you think you're doing variys sama "

She shouts grabbing the food bag that she just bought and throws it as hard as she Could towards variys , sending him straight to the wall .

Moments Later ...

"I'm sorry variys sama ... I got carried away ... "

" Yeah i know ... But it Was an accident . so don't rush into conclusions next Time. "

" Okay ... " replied Celestine , she then passes the food to the girl smiling

" I brought you food ... Eat up "

Drop of tears goes down her face as she hold it into her hand , even the smell of food gave her a sense of fulfillment

After she finished eating she thanks them Again .

Variys tells her That's it's ok . They couldn't just leave her like That .

" You are very kind " she said That while blushing .

" By the way , you never told me your names " she asked them

Celestine steps forward " this man right here is variys sama and I'm Celestine R. Crystal . we are on a quest together ''

" a quest , it feel more like I'm your hostage if I could say .. " he replies & Celestin looks back to him pouting in a cute manner .

The Bunny girl is shocked " R Crystal you Say !!! "

"Huh... !! "

"Are you somehow related to " Naomi R Crystal " She Asked & Celestine Freaks Out " That's my sister .. she was taken few days ago by a group of Slave Traders ...Do you know her??" . '' I See … what an unpleasant coincidence this turned to be " . she said

" I was in the same carriage That took your sister .Me , her and a many others were snatched & enslaved... And if it weren't for her I wouldn't be here today . That's why those men were After me . After you sister sacrificed her own freedom to save me . The only thing i Could do was to run. That's of course until i met him .

Variys replied in curiosity " Him ?? .. "

She explained That After running from the traders ,she crossed ways with a man she couldn't see his face . she described him as a tall man with blond hair wearing a black cape that was also covering most of his face , but for a moment she was able to see his eyes , his crimson red eyes that shined through the darkness in that cold forest . he told her That he is ready to Help her, she just need to Wear this collar and the traders will not be able to hurt her . Scared for her life , she trusted him . but the moment she wore it she Lost control & everything went pitch black . And that's how she ended up here .

" So Where were they taking you . those traders " he asked

" I don't know , they didn't mention any locations "

suddenly the room gets quiet followed by the girl tearing up in regret

" If only i was stronger.... if only ... " but before she could even say any more words , Celestine hugs her and tells her That this isn't her fault . and she shouldn't feel repentance for what happened .She looks back at Celestine and sees Naomi's eyes in hers

" You are really her sister aren't you ..."

"Huh ... "

" When she saved my life she gave me this and told me To hold on to it ... I don't know why but i think it's the right thing if you have it " said the girl while passing her a necklace That belonged to her sister Naomi .

Celestine is startled but happy at the same Time .

" Variys sama ... That's "

" Yeah ... It seems there is Hope After all "

the bunny girl doesn't understand what are they talking about, what good could come from a necklace , she wonders while staring only for variys to turn her way

"By the way what your name ?? "

"Cana chaltar . " she replied

He looks at her for a moment then turns around and tell her That they are about to Handle some business . She Can leave After she takes some rest .

" Wait ... You are going to save her sister right ? "

" well, in That case i want to Come with you "

" I'm not trying to be mean or anything , but things might get dangerous and i can't have dead Weight on my Shoulders "

" Then in That case we will ... "

" BUT !! … I can't turn my back on someone who saved my life . This isn't a request …" She looks at him with determination in her eye

They both look at her for a brief moment not saying a word .

" Plus if you want to track someone you need to know the place right ?..

And i know every single turn in this town and all around it from forests to rivers, That's how i manager to escape in the first place . you will need my help to navigate fast though out the shortcuts. "

" ... Leaving me no choice huh… " he said

" Well then Celestine you better start with the spell . I don't want this to take any longer than it have to be ... "

Celestine Shouts bluntly in happiness "yay we're a team now !! ... "

" the hell we are ! " He turns back to her shouting

" what spell ... " Said Cana .

" Come … I'm gonna show you something interesting " she replied winking ..

A while passes by & Celestine have drawn a Magical circle with a piece of paper centered in it , & the necklace that belonged to Naomi is also placed perfectly on that piece of paper .

Celestine started Chanting an incantation as variys & Cana stood aside watching

" Elders in heavens above , those who shall see through the realms and steer the lost ones . Help me with my search and guide me in the Darkness of nights … help me unearth my lost …"

" That's ... " said Cana stargazed

" yeah ... Light Magic . That's One Of Her Many Gifts I Guess… "

" TRACK ON " she chanted & The paper ignited with bright white light ...

moments Later Cana sees That there is a drawing on That paper .

" Is That .... A Map !!! "

" Yaaaay i did it , what do you Think variys sama , i told you my Magic was special & could come in handy "

" yeah .. I'm never doubting you Again hahaha "

" But this is weird i never seen this place before… " said Celestine

" I have .." said Cana While lifting the map

" Yes variys sama . it's a really dangerous road , filled with beasts & risky Obstacles , no one dares to Come close to it , let alone go through it … "

" What's this place !! " asked variys & she replies with a scary tone

" They Call it : The High Mountains !! "

The high Mountains : a place not That much far away from the nozomu town .

The roads there are risky & the weather is Always at constant change from heavy rain to huge thunder storms , it said That it had Taken so many lives , you Can hear the Voices of the people who Lost their souls screaming in agony at the bottom of the valley . Adventurers avoid it all coasts . But demons & outcasts uses it as their hunting ground and shelter since no one dares to go there. No one except of course for variys and his companions as they are about to attempt a search & rescue mission .

[Somewhere in there.... ]

A carriage is being dragged by enfeebled tired horses on a narrow road . Even a small false step Could lead down to the unknown bottom , Bandits marching carefully through the verge of the highest mountain leading their horses on the same line .

You Could feel The horses despair . As it's clear shows that they haven't Taken a rest in a long Time ..One of the man walking behind said to another who's up ahead ..

" Boss we have to go back .. the horses , they won't take much more . We have to go back ... "

The boss riding a horse in the front replies with a smile " we are almost there . We will rest once we get past this valley . After That it's all clear roads "

" But boss ..!! "

" No Buts , Don't worry .... they will make it ... This is the only way To get there without being noticed , Plus the faster we march the easiest this is gonna be "

" Where are you taking us !!? " an elf woman Shouts from the carriage

A carriage That seem to be filed with people in shredded cloths and a starving gloomy look on their faces .

The Boss turns around as the woman who said that was right behind him locked up

"aaaah my lady you seem to have awaken .."

" i said Where are you taking us ?!. "

" Someone paid us High Money to deliver you people to him ... I don't know why but with That much Money , i couldn't even bother to ask hahahha "

" You bastard ... You will pay for what you did to these people "

" I'm not gonna pay for anything sweetheart ... On the opposite I'm getting paid ahahahahahaha" he cracks off l and all his men start laughing devilishly after him . And one of them laughs so much while walking forward that he makes a false step by the edge . The rocks under him falls apart & shatters as he goes down alongside his horse the deep down of the Mountains while screaming for someone to save him '' HEEEEEELP !!!!! '' he shouted while falling from the verge

The lady is shocked & benumbed , she ask for someone to check on him only to turn back to the traders boss to see a dead look on his face as if he doesn't feel anything nor does he Care about what just happen as he looks down .

" Ahhh to Bad .... well ! i Guess i just have to take your share then ... Let's keep going forward men , only few days left . careful you don't want to follow your comrade hahahahah "

he laughed while keeping his pace forward followed by his men And the carriage heads to the unknown ...

Back to Variys & the girls , they left Nozomu and are heading to save Naomi .

The journey was long , both girls seemed tired so variys suggested That they camp in the middle of the forest for The night . After variys took down a wild boar they set a fire and started eating . Variys was impressed That Cana was the one that cooked it . after all neither he or Celestine know how to cook a wild boar

" Woaaaah . It's delicious , how did you make something this good in this circumstances "

" I'm glad you like it . Variys sama , I was born in the wild so i had to learn how to manage & take care of myself "

" Amazing ... "

' even though she looks cute & innocent , she clearly knows a lot about the wild life ... ' thought variys to himself before turning to Celestin

They both looked at her noticing That she was getting agitated .

said variys while chewing on food bluntly putting her at ease . she clearly had secretes of her own & wasn't ready to share them .

The day After they continued their journey and variys seemed tired . Of course he would be , he didn't sleep last night at all . Who Can ? when there is a blond elf and a Bunny girl laying on their chest though out the Long night , it took him every bit of strength and total concentration to not try anything funny, weird or perverted with these immensely attractive girls . but the journey was still long , even though , They managed to pass the high Mountains going through all the narrow roads and deadly routes . Beating down every dangerous Beasts that tried to hold them back . only To find themselves at- the top end of the valley surrounded by semi – Edged Mountains From Each Side .

Cana spots the carriage while looking down the Valley . "Over there ... That's them" . " Are you sure " variys said as he focus on the carriage and he notice slaves in there. " Yeah . That's definitely them "

' Naomi . Hold on I'm coming to save you ! ' Thought Celestine to herself

variys seemed somewhat relieved & glad that they managed to reach them fast enough before they disappeared to god knows where . thanks to the traders having heavy cargos on the carriages . now it's only a matter of hours before variys & the girls cut them off by going through the shortcut that the horses weren't able to pass though .

" let's go girls !!, we have a rescue mission to complete '' he said in confidence

Later That same Day – Down The Valley

Come on men , we are almost there " said the trader boss to his men giving them motivation to keep their pace . And as he is doing that That one of his men ask him " Boss What's That ... "

" Huh :" He looks forward to see 3 people cutting them off .

A demon with Horns , An elf & a Bunny girl ..

" What.. the ... " And as he is trying to assess the situation he hears the demon shouting

" Fire Dragon Wraith !!!! "

blasting them with a giant blaze of fire Coming their way. The boss dodges the attack fast but the explosion hits most of his men tossing them away leaving only few . all The slaves Wonder what just happened .

" what was that , an explosion !! " " Did someone came to save us "

" are you stupid .. who will Come for us "

" Heroes ... They have to be Heroes !!! ... "

The trader stands on his feet shouting . " WHO THE HELL ARE YOU "

& Out of the smoke Come Out variys stating .

" I'm the Demon Lord Variys !! "

He looks at the carriage and he sees an elf girl staring back at him & he smiles stating .

" it seems you have something That belongs to me !! "

" Huuh .something that belongs to you , Screw you . i never Heard of you but you will pay for what you did ..!! " He pulls out a white crystal radiating with energy power "

" That's ... Variys sama watch out !!!! .... " Said Cana .

" Take This ..... Angel Burst !! " Chanted The Trader Beaming Variys With Holly Rays , So Much So That A Loud BOOM is Heard on the valley . followed by big could of smoke .

The slaves are Confused wondering What's happening Alongside Naomi Observing The Battle , only to hear the chain of the carriage getting chattered . She looks around to see non other her sister Celestine Grabbing Into A Rock

" Cele ... What are you doing here ..!! "

" what does it look like I'm doing ... Naomi-onee-sama I CAME TO SAVE YOU "

she said as she banged on the chains even harder enough to fracture them to pieces & Naomi could only stare at her little sister's bravery in admiration " Cele ... "

" We don't have Time . let's go " she said opening the carriage gateway .

as slaves are escape to freedom . " You bitch !! .... What do you Think you're doing ..!!! " said the trader as he took notice of the situation .

" You have no right to enslave people , you're a scum & you will pay for what you did " she shouts in anger .

" Pay you Say , and who's gonna make me pay you .... Don't make me laugh you are nothing but a worthless being !! why don't you just die !!... " he screamed

He lift the crystal to face Celestine and Naomi .

" Cele Watch out " Naomi while stepping forward still chained , in order to protects her while bracing for the hit .

" Flush Bang !!! " He Chanted Blasting them With Another Holly Beam Heading Destructively Towards them , but the blast Gets Stopped After Someone Chanting " Wall Of Protection " Creating an incantation that Made a huge Brick wall appear out of nowhere protecting Celestine & her sinter alongside the others from the explosion .

" Is That the best you got ? ! " said a Voice again coming from behind the trader

" Who said That ??? " he shouts looking for the person who deflected his attack only see variys standing there .

" Variys sama " Shouts Cana & Celestine in happiness

" You …. so you survived my attack ?? , just who the hell are you !!"

" I said , is That the best you got i barely felt that " said variys an evil laugh !!! yet behind this strong cocky act he thinks to himself in panic

' bullshit... I totally felt that !!! That was so close .... i thought i was going to die. was that a holly item . shit , I can't let my guard down again , he just caught me by surprise I thought he will only use a sword or something similar , if he blast me again with that , I'm dead meat … ''

" Cele take this of me ... " Said Naomi while pointing at the chains she was handcuffed to .

" Those are not ordinary chain onee - sama "

" Yeah ... These are Anti - Magic chains they don't allow whoever is wearing them to use Magic . Help me takes them off so i Can Help him , that man ,… he took quiet the damage I can tell … . " she said paying notice to the fight as

Trader is ready to make another shot at variys .

" This isn't over you bastard , I'm going to turn you to ashes !! " he shouted as the crystal Lighted Up once more .

' This Time i have to avoid it at all coast ... ' thought variys to himself preparing for the next attack , only to notice a blue aura beginning to cover his whole body , followed by a sudden boost in his stamina & mana .

" This is….? "

" What are you planning to do !! ? " said the trader aggravated , yet variys is also curios as he looks around to see Naomi making an incantation spell after her cuffs got taken off & she said smiling " Enchant !!"

' enchant huh ... Magic That amplifies the speed , strength and stamina of whoever the user chose to pass on . except for themselves of course ' thought variys .

" is this ….. enchant magic ??? whatever . It doesn't matter, Die. Heavenly Beams !!! " he chanted heaving the crystal towards variys as dozens of Laser beams are shot from the crystal . " to slow !! " said variys as he dashed dodging every single one of them at high speed while running through the valley at a really fast pace thanks to Naomi Elevating His Momentum . every beam shot by the trader missed variys destroyed the Boulder of rocks That was behind him .

" Die!! die !!die!!die !! " the trader screamed while shooting him up again & again, yet variys is just avoiding every single one with great speed that just kept increasing, until suddenly he vanished with no trace .

" He Disappeared !! …. " Said the trader in shock not grasping what just happened only for variys to appear face to face before to him . With a red Magic circle drawn attached to his hand .

" What Did you Say Earlier … You were gonna turn me To ashes , huh ?? …." said variys with a deadly look on his face as his arm ignited in Flames

" So Fast ….. Wait …. not this close .... i will !!! ….. shit " said the trader panicking but he can't dodge this one out ….

" INFIGAR !!! " Shouted Variys blasting him away , Followed by a huge Explosion That Could Be seen From Far Off

A Brief Moment Later , The trader falls on his back with smoke coming out if his body like he just got roasted . The Rest Of his Men , Who Were Standing aside this whole time after taking A Hit From Variys ,Just Witnessed the power of the demon lord and started feeding for their lives .

The Beaten Up boss then coughs and turn around on the ground to see the crystal Dropped on the floor few steps ahead . As he Reaches out to grab it for another round , a foot Steps on the crystal … he lift his head up timorously only to See Cana Staring Back at him With a Fake smile . Simply Saying " i don't think so " .

He laughs nervously as he hears footsteps coming his way , so he rolls around in anxious to see all Slaves looking at atrociously While approaching to him .

" No . Please .... I .... I... I didn't mean to ..I'm sorry .... No .no .nooooo " he shouted in fear knowing the outcome , so much so that his voice could be heard all around the high mountains

Later That Day .

" Thank You Hero Sama !! " The freed people thanks variys bowing their heads in respect

" Huuuh …. Hero …. I'm a Demon Lord ... Don't you dare insult me like That ever Again you low class Creatures Or else…. Or else i will throw you in a Hell hole ... Understand ?! " said variys annoyed by the title they gave him .

As he said That the look on the people's faces didn't change , they still consider him their hero , demon or not, he's the one That saved them from the gloomy fate .

" variys sama these people are thankful for you ... You saved their life . That's what Heroes do " said Cana as she stepped towards him

"I SAID I'm not !!! ....Well ... Whatever ... Do as you Please , i don't Care "

"Let's hear a hooray for our hero demon lord said an old man & they all started cheering for him

" Hip hip ... Hooray "

" Variys sama i want you to meet someone " said Celestine while holding naomi's hand ready to present her .

" This is my Sister Naomi !! "

" Yeah . I figured ... Thank You for your Help earlier ..... Not That i needed it or like That ...! but still you have my gratitude " he said trying to look cool

" Yeah I'm sure you didn't " she replied chuckling amused by his persona .

" sister , Variys sama is a demon lord , i summoned him Myself to help me find you , what do you think !! "

" Araa ... You did something so dangerous to save your big sister , i feel down since I'm the one supposed to do the saving "

" ooooof . You should be thankful one sama " she said pouting

" hay hay . I get it , Thank You Cele " she said with a smile of relief only to spot Cana Afterwards as she stood up aside stargazed . they glanced at each other for a moment before Naomi walked towards her & gave her a touching hug .

" Without you , i would be lost now . Thank You !! " she said making Cana emotional as tear ran down her cheeks " it's all Because you saved me first . . "

moments later after everyone prepared to get back to their homes & families Naomi approached variys saying " You have something That belongs to me ..."

" huh?... "

" That's what you said to the trader earlier .You have something That belongs to me !! am I right ?" she said smiling

Variys freaks out blushing ." Don't get the wrong Idea . i was just in the moment, plus it was all Because of Cele , she was the one that forced me to come , "

" ara ara , i never heard of a demon lord who blushes by hearing compliments ... You Are Such an interesting Lord … a Cute One To Be Honest … "

" C..Cute ..I'm the Demon Lord variys ... I'm the most feared Devil … The Most Dangerous being on the .... " but Before he could even finish his sentence , she reaches out and kisses him on the cheek saying gently " Thank You Variys Kun'' enough to make him astounded by the cuteness of this heavenly charming elf .

Celestine and Cana are shocked . with Cana Whispering aside

"We were to careless , and now we have a New rival "

Celestine Replying Almost Anxiously " yeah , we let our Guard down . "

as that day came to an end , the people left to their villages & homes after putting the trader & what's left of his men into the same carriages to atone & answer for their crimes , but not before the trader alerted them that they have made a huge mistake & that variys should've just kept his nose out of this business …

That was the last thing variys heard as the carriage began its journey and felt some sort of an ease towards this statement & he was right Because Few Days Later Not too far from this valley , deep in the shadows , deep in the darkness a someone has Heard of this accident .

Behind the high Mountains and the dangerous valley. There is a place where no sane person would dare to reach . an ominous region so menacing that any sign of life almost seem impossible to find , there lays a deserted blacked out castle that radiate with evil atmosphere … Yet that castle might not be so deserted after all , as A woman with crimson glowing stare is sitting on a throne with her legs crossed together , seeming bored & monotonous " So you Lost the carriage ... " She said displeased looking down to one of the slave trader's men

" I'm sorry .... My Queen ... We... Were attacked ... " he said while looking down to earth on his knees , frightened by her presence .

" Attacked huh .. by whom i Wonder ... "

" I don't know my Queen ... But he called Himself variys & he claims to be a demon lord ... "

" Variys .... Interesting " she said as A crow bursts flying inside The castle hall to Land next to her making a loud raspy call, " Kakaaa kaakaaaaa "

The men is sweating in terror & anxiety as he feels the Evil aura coming out from the throne above him .

" I'm truly sorry my Queen .... Please give me another chance ... "

" No need to apologies my humble servant , it's not your fault for being overmatched in a battle … " she said as she walks down toward him making him feel somewhat relived .

she then stood behind him putting her hand on his Shoulders

whispering in a cold voice " it's my fault for sending a dog on a wolf hunt !! "

The man suddenly fell something inside him & start screaming in agony and panic followed by dark liquid flooding out from his body dropping him to the ground breathless .

she then walked back towards her throne & snapped her fingers

behind her , from the darkest corner of the hall , a golden armored knight with crimson like eye emerges from the shadows

" My Queen ... " he said while kneeling .

" It's your turn now . Bring me the Head if this who claims to be a demon lord"

" Yes , my Queen . " he said vanishing back to the darkness .

" Demon Lord Variys ….. What a joke " she said to herself followed by an evil laugh that could echoed through the daunting castle.
