Chapter 7 - The Magic Tournament 

After variys defeated the armored knight which turned out to be a man that was under the control of valerya just like variys thought .The man regain his mind back not realizing Where he is .Variys explained to him That he was being controlled. ''What's the last thing you remember ''he said .

The knight takes a moment and then explain to variys That his name is Sir. Zarako Reijin, 3rd member of the Holly Knights Of Darc . Him and 2 other comrades alongside with the mightiest hero of nozomu Were giving a mission by the King Himself to take down a Demon Queen who have been taking people hostage and using them for god knows what . but they weren't a match for her .

" Taking hostage . So That's why she Was upset . It seems That the carriage we stopped was heading to her " said variys

" Mightiest hero . Does he mean William " said Cana

" Yeah . Do you know him "

" Yeah , we had a fight with him few days ago"

" So That means ... "

" Yeah .. he is also being controlled . By that wrench "

" So . you also know about the Demon Queen . "

" Yeah ... She is on my List and I'm planning to take her down next ... "

" I don't think That possible . You are truly strong variys san .but she is on a whole other level "

" What do you mean ?? "

" Although we outnumbered her when we fought, She moped the floor with us , we couldn't stand a chance . the moment we got there we were already at her mercy & she took hold of us using some sort of a mind control spell "

" Variys sama, she sound really dangerous " said Celestine

" Yeah ... It's probably true , i don't stand a chance with her by Myself . "

" Huh "

" And That's why I'm making a team that would Help me takes her down "

" Variys san ... Just who are you ! and why are you so eager to bring her down , so much so that you would risk your life ? " he asked

" it's because I'm variys . The only Demon Lord "

" Demon lord ... But you don't seem to be That strong " said zarako ..

" What did you Say " said variys as he stared him with a killer face

" Aaah I'm sorry i meant no offense ... It's just That your Magic power and hers are totally different ... Plus i never heard of Demon Lords fight between Themselves "

This question caught variys by surprise as he didn't expect for zarako to feel his power levels , so he turns around and stares out the window of that room trying to look cool , while stating

" Yeah . That's Because i was summoned by this girl so i Lost half my Magic power on my way here .... " he said with a straight face

The girls can't believe what they just Heard . Variys just made the fakest story in the History .

" Variys sama ,Not Even a kid would believe this story … " whispered Naomi

" Naomi is right you should probably think of another convincing lie " replied Cana

" Yeah i See so That's how it is … now I understand your situation , forgive me for doubting you Demon Lord Variys " replied zarako

" You see i told you he won't beliv... huh ... What Did He Say " The girls are amazed to see the men reaction after he believed this story. yet the most shocked one in the room is is variys as he thinks to Himself

' is this Guy stupid . How Can a story like this be true , i didn't lose my half of my Magic power, It never existed in the first place . Or is this one of my abilities as a demon lord. Can I make anyone believe my shitty stories . Damn I'm Amazing aren't i '

" Ahm ahm . Yeah that's right , and that's why I have these girls to help me in case something went wrong . … anyway do you happen to remember Where her castle is located at , she said it's behind the mountains but that could be anywhere "

" I'm afraid i don't . The castle has some sort of a Magic barrier so it appears and disappeared by the order of the Queen . Last Time We Just Got Lucky & Ended Up There ,After She Used a spell To Make The Whole Castle invisible to the other . There is no way To track it down or to Locate it . I'm terribly sorry "

" it's ok we will figure out something . Isn't That right variys sama " said Celestine .

" Yeah we will figure something out .. " he replied .

the day after they Head out to the Guild to gather some Intel about the location of the castle ,maybe some adventurers will know something about the place . Also variys want to know how much he leveled up from last Time . after they got in the guild , variys and the girls asks around about valerya place but no one knows . Celestine describe her place as a ghost castle, nobody ever saw it , so they decide to give up on the Intel gathering , instead variys went to see how much he leveled up . using the same method as before , He puts his hand on the aurora , after a brief moment of scanning the result have come up

Celestine is amazed, so are some members of the Guild

" Woaaaah variys sama your power levels have tripled in this short Time "

" It's no surprise After all variys kun have been fighting strong opponents ever since he was summoned " said Naomi

"that's expected from variys sama " said Cana

" Woaaaah . Not Bad at all . Hunter " said some man

" I'm not a Hunter . Sorry to disappoint you . I'm a Demon Lord !! . " Said variys proudly with a grin on his face .

" I see…. . Well it's good to see Powerful people for once a while ." replied the adventurer .

" Does people not care about Titles and names in this town . It's like he didn't even care that I'm a demon lord , what's the point of having a cool title if people aren't even gonna take note of it ….. " whispered variys as he started feeling down since all he wanted was a little bit of intention and recognition for being a Demon Lord .

The adventurer , in a funny way noticed that he hurt variys feelings and he tries to cheer him up while patting him on the back saying " aaah I'm sorry , I didn't mean to hurt your feelings young man . It must feel great to be Demon Lord . You must be really strong hahaha , so Does That mean That you are going to participate in the upcoming Magic tournament "

" Magic tournament !? " turned variys to him

Another man comes forward

" Yeah it's a Big tournament . It's organized by the King Himself so there should be a Big prize haha "

" Big prize you Say !! " said variys as the look on his face changed

Naomi noticed the look on his face and laughs " ara ara variys kun your mood changed quickly ufufuf "

" Variys sama ... I already know this look . You're not thinking about ... "said Cana nervously

" what do you think ... of course , I'm gonna enter the tournament !! "

Celestine reminds him about valerya and that they already on a mission but he explain that she can wait . But For Now he is really interested in this tournament . he will make sure to Win as fast as possible so that they Can continue with their mission .

He then turns back to the adventurer with a buffed chest looking all cool & mighty Asking .

" So. Where & When Will This Tournament Take off . "

Few days later ... [ ROYAL CAPITAL ]

" Woaaaah it's so Big and full of people "

" Don't tell me you have never been here Cele "

" no i haven't variys sama . "

Cana and Naomi are also here for the first Time and the team decide to have fun before the tournament start . they spent the morning hanging around the capital. None of them was ready for what the city had to offer . Celestine seem to be interested in the food there as she never tasted it before, It was totally different from Her Home Town Food . cana was more interested in the weaponry stores . But somehow was only attracted to huge sword and big weapons that were twice her size . As For variys and Naomi , They were just having fun watching the two girls acting like little kids who has never been outside ..

suddenly Variys Gets tugged from the shoulder by two strange girls . he turns to them only to see a beautiful black haired woman in a short maid outfit pulling him to the restaurant to the right saying that she will offer him the best service in town . But another is a Dark Elf in her 30s with long alluring red dress pulling him to her store on the left , telling him that she will read his fortune . Each one keeps pulling him to her side but variys doesn't care about the restaurant , nor the fortune telling since all he could notice was their huge breasts squeezing against his shoulders . This situation continued for a while until Naomi finally decide to break them off. and took Variys beside her telling him to not leave her sight . He laughs it off as they continued with their day but having fun and walking around the capital . yet as they do variys suddenly feels like there is someone following him . He turn swiftly to check but nobody suspicious is around him .

" What wrong variys kun " said Naomi .

" huh … No . Nothing ... "

abruptly They hear noises & shouting coming from the giant Arena that is located ahead .

" It already started ... " Said cana

" Yeah let's go ! " he replied .

They enter the Arena and variys sees a check-in point for people Who Want To participate . it seems That a lot of strong adventurers are joining in.

" Variys sama ... " Said Celestine as she seemed worry but He turns back to her smiling and pats her head

" Don't worry . I'm gonna make sure to end this fast " he said arrogantly

Cana laughs and Naomi follows it with a smile

" Ara ara variys kun . I never saw this side of you "

" What do you mean ? "

" no , nothing ... Just make sure to give us a good show "

He smiles and go on his way while waving for them

" yeah don't worry i have New tricks i want to show you . "

" New tricks ? " said Celestine

" Yeah it seems that variys sama have acquired some New spells after he leveled up . I wonder what he will do to surprise us now " said Naomi putting Celestine at ease .

Inside the Giant arena . A man standing in the middle with a white Magic circle on his hand. That serves as a speaker . It seems That he would be the announcer of this tournament .

" Welcome ladies and gentleman . Today is the long Awaited day . The kingdom is full of adventurers and hunters . Heroes and demons . Beasts and demi Human . But Today everyone who steps on this Arena will become a warrior . By the order of the King may he live forever . The royal capital present to you . Your annual entertainment …..

" The 25th Magic tournament !! " he shouted as the people went crazy , sheering and screaming in excitement .

" you seem already hyped up so there is no reason to drag the interdiction any further . Let us now meet our fighters !! Release The Gates" huge gates open's up and hundreds of fighters , magicians & beast men with all kind of armors & weaponries are getting in . &alongside them enters variys & steps in the middle surrounded by hundreds of opponents

" Woaaaah this Arena is sure Big from the inside it's way more bigger than I expected . " he thought to himself

" Welcome warriors . Today is your chance to prove yourself in front of the people and King Omen Himself !. "

The King Could be seen on a fancy throne looking down to the coming fighters .

" so That's the King huh " said variys as he look up then looks to the fighters to see which one he will take down first but he is soon interrupted by someone calling for him

" Yooo.... False Demon Lord ! "

Variys turns around to see it was William standing behind him , but how , how did he track him down to her , & why now . it was the last thing he ever expected & William definitely caught him off guard so he quickly reaches for his sword

" You bastard . I knew you survived but to show up here …. " said variys as he Gets ready for a fight .

" Woaah relax the tournament haven't started yet . Plus you should pay attention around you . You really think you Can take all of us " said William in a calm manner while pointing in another direction .

" All of us .. what do you mean ?? "

Variys turn around to see 2 other Knights in black Armor Similar To Zarako approaching him .

" Huuh so you brought back-up "

" Can you blame me , last Time you used the girls and took me off guard . I can't let That happen Again "

"off guard …. Is that what you convinced yourself to have happened . Huh . I See you don't accept losing so easily ... I'm guessing That your Queen has probably scold you and now you are trying to put your anger on me . "

William face expression change as he replied in rage

" What did you Say . You bastard ... I'm gonna enjoy taking your worthless life ..."

" Listen up warriors " shouted the announcer breaking their focus as All the fighter looks ahead

" This fight will not end until there is only one warrior standing . everything is allowed use whatever means necessary to survive . And the winner shall be rewarded .... And the Price is ....

the whole arena muted to hear the prize and the tension reached the sky followed by The Announcer Stating from the top of his lunges

" 1.000.000 coin !!" he said & the crowd goes nuts shouting and screaming

" Woaaaah " " 1 million coins !!! " Imagine what you could do with a million coin . I would never have to work again "

" Damn i whish i participated "

" Haha are you stupid you will just get yourself killed "

" Woaaaah 1 million coins . Variys samaaaa make sure to win this tournament " Shouts cana as she is standing with the crowd

" This is Great . We are gonna have a lot of delicious meals After variys wins the tournament " said Celestine as she turns to Naomi

" am i right one sama "

" I don't know if That's for sure ... "

" What do you mean ? "

" Look at the participant . They all look really Powerful . Plus this is a Magic tournament so it's not like variys kun previous fights with the bandits who were non-magic users . This is on another level . If he wants to win he needs to make a plan to eliminate most of them without wasting too much magic power . He need to stay alert and watch his back from every fighter Especially him "

" Him ... Who do you mean Naomi onee sama ?? "

Celestine turn back to see William standing in front of variys .

" Impossible how is he here "

" Don't tell me he followed us all the way here . But why ?? "

" Isn't That obvious , he want to take down variys kun while he is busy with the tournament . He's planning on using the other magician to weaken him and then takes his shot , I don't know how he managed to follow us all the way from nozomu but that doesn't matter right now , what matters is how variys is going to react . " said Naomi

" no way ... So variys sama ... "

" I know thing might be hopeless right now …. Don't worry Cele . I'm sure he already made a plan "

Celestine stars at him from the crowd worried , but suddenly & for a brief moment he turns around her way with a smile showing her That he knows exactly Where she is & that things are going to be okay . that jester was enough to calm her & put her mind at ease .

" variys sama . Good luck … "

" Warrior get ready ... " stated the announcer and all of them gets on stand position ready to fight .He takes A Deep Breath….

" Fight !!! "

as soon as he shouted that signal , everyone jumped at each other with brute force using whatever they brought in , other went ahead & started blasting magical spells around of all sorts . Water magic . Fire magic . Lighting magic . Some even brought Magic items Like Light swords and Fire Spears To the Fight and started using them with no remorse , the Arena turned into a war zone in just mere seconds . other magicians noticed the mess that was drawn in the middle of the arena & decided to take this fight to the skies using their brooms to fly . Everyone started fighting in Instant . Everyone except for Variys of course as he thinks to himself .

" This isn't a Tournament …. This is a battle royal …. !!! "

While he is in his zone assessing the situation Few magicians decide to jump on him , yet he meets them with a smirk while raising his hand creating a shining Bleu Magic circle under his feet

" woooah your approaching me !... I have the perfect trick for you "

" Gravity Zero ! " he chanted as the Magic circle becomes even bigger & bigger only to reach under their feet as they are running towards him , they all noticed the magic spell he just made & some of them even realized what it meant

" This is .... ! "

" Shit ...." " he can use this type of advanced spells " they said in incredulity fearing what's about to come next .

He smiles and said in a cold voice " fly . "

in an instant, they all started gravitating slowly only to get sent high in the Sky afterward . just a brief moment later they fell down to the ground knocked out .

Everyone noticed the attack he just made . now variys have their full attention even the crowd can't keep their eyes off him " who is that brave man , he just put a handful of them to sleep like they were little kids ." stated the announcer & the rest of the fighters went for his head

" They just keep coming . Why are they all attacking variys sama " said cana " Isn't that obvious. It's because they just realized that he is the strongest man in there" replied Naomi .

" Come , i will take all of you out !! " Shouts variys with a mighty vigorous pose

And they all accepted his challenge , charging from both the ground & the Skies , clashing against him using their strongest magic spells & their sharpest weapons Weapons

" Fire Magic : Fire Ball ! " " Plant Magic : Death Flower " " Lightning Magic : Lightning Bolt " " Holy Magic : Angel Spear " '' Water Magic : Nebula !!! ""

but he doesn't back off , instead he dodges their attack & take down the magicians & beasts one After another using his Own strongest spells

" Infigar !! "

" Tempest !! "

" Fire Dragon wraith !! "

" Thunder Bolt !! "

" Wall of Protection !! "

" Counter Shock !! "

The fight goes on for quite a while all while William is lurking around him waiting for the perfect moment to attack , & since there were a lot of them, Variys Decided to go and use one of his newest Incantations , the one he possessed during his dungeon fight , he takes a step back letting all of his opponents gets closer to his way while taking a deep breath. all of a sudden his eyes lighted up with sparks of Black Lightning Followed By His Whole Body beginning to release immense Magical aura , the Fighters all stopped after they realized what will happen next but it was too late as he Wielded his Black Lightning using only his Right Fist & Cracking it against The Ground Shouting " Thunder Stroke " Releasing a huge Shockwave of Dark Lighting Shreds So Powerful That The Whole arena trembled .

Few Moments Later .

a seemingly Huge Pile Of Beasts & people all together could be seen Knocked Out Unconscious right under the feet of variys Followed By The People Cheering for him as the announcer shouts is disbelief

" Woaaaah . What a show . What a fight . What a rush . Look people : That's how true warriors fight !!!! "

" Waaaaaaaaaah " screamed the crowd

Still , variys doesn't celebrate , he is just too worn out since he used most his Magic power . After all ,he just defeated almost every fighter in the Arena ...

Almost That is …. Because there is still others left , those who didn't bother to fight , those who came for a reason other than the prize , those be William and the two black armored Knights , all staring at each other plotting for the second round .

Yet , there is someone else , someone who have been Hit by the Last attack , someone who also came for a reason other than the million coin , but they weren't strong enough as of now they are Dropped on the floor uncurious , that person is a young Elegant Woman .

that woman is now having a specific recollection, a memory that goes back few months ago where she was knocked down in front of her house , soaking wet in the heavy rain , before her stood up an old man gripping on his Katana , heavily wounded , she shouts for him " father !! " but he didn't turn back to her , he was occupied to say the least as before him stood up William trying to pursue him into doing something , a deal perhaps …

" come on old man , it's no use to fight back , you won't win , the queen is making an army , & you should be happy that she saw you fit to join her , we both know that you can't win against me . " said William but the man doesn't flinch , instead he gets ready to attack William while striking Another Pose , showing Him that he still has the will to fight , as both of them are about to clash into each other once more a woman voice is heard coming behind William saying

" what is it that's taking you so long William , I thought i asked you to make it quick " William gasp in shock

"apologies , my queen , I will make it end here " he said " no need to , you are like a hound dog always leaving a mess wherever you go " she replied & the old swordsman seems discomfort , more so in his situation " so , you finally decided to show yourself , Valerya Ishigar " he said

" yeah , I came especially for you , you should feel honored "

the man doesn't take this as a compliment , instead he turns to his daughter " shizone , whatever happens , never forget the way of the sword " this phrase caught her off guard , but before she even try to grasp it & question him , he had already went & charged at valerya with his sword shouting " aaaaaaaah "

" Father !! " shouts shizone but it's too late as valerya had already made her move

she lifts her hand Slowly , making a violet magical circle in her palm ,

" what a nonsenses , that's what I hate about humans , you never know your place !! " she said with an evil Grin right before blasting him with a bright Black ray beam , the attack was way too powerful , so much so that shizone couldn't even see what happened , only for her to get hit with the blast as well …

Suddenly she wakes up again in the arena gasping after she Regained Her Conscious , she tries to stand up by leaning on her Katana & variys Can hear her footsteps from behind him as he turn around .

He looks Back to See a stunning tall woman with long black Ponytailed Hair & Short Kimono , Captivated by her Presence he can onoly stare at her as she barely can keep her stand

' swordswoman !! she managed to withstand my spell . Just who the Hell is she ! "
