Squaring Shoulders

11:45am: Wednesday morning, Royal Hearts Dining Hall.

“Hey, you did good there.” Angela said to her brother.

Tega who had brought in Divine now aas sitting on a bench. He heaved but compared to when he had come in, it had reduced considerably now. He sat on the bench, his back against the wall while Divine stood adjacent to him with her eyes wide open at him. It was obvious that she had not come to terms with being jerked out of the pace just like that.

She looked like she was about to explode but then she had thought better than to do tha. Rather, she stood soundlessly, her hands crossed against her chest as her eyebrows wrinkled over while Angela fused over her brother.

“Are you fien?” She asked him. Angela, that is.

“I am fine. I told you that it is nothing, really;”:Tega smiled at her.

“I know but I am so worried about you. You know that we only have three busts of powers to use. You cannot afford to use your ability anymore, Don't get yourself into dangerous situations ever.” Anegla warned.

``Yes, I know.” Tega shrugged at her while giving a glance towards Divine who stood still by the side.

Angel Was sitting just in front of him, the table of brown being the division between the two of them. Divine was by the side of the table, that is, in the pathway that did lead from the doorway to the rest of the hall. It was the same pathway that Tega had taken when he had come into the hall and had fallen in right ahead.

“You can run fast>” Divine said to him now, her frown easing up a bit.

“Yes, he can.” Angela responded instead, allowing Tega to catch his breath.

“Bitch. I am not talking to you.” Dvine responded and then slammed her right fist against the table now.

SH drew in closer as she stared daggers at Angela. “I am talking to your brother and I expect that he will respond to me. Not you. What kind of mouthpiece are you now?” She asked her.

“I don't care what you think but as you can see, he is out of breath. The best you can do is not to throw questions his way.” Angela retorted back to her.

“Oh, haha. Like you are not the one running him out of breath with your constant nagging. Look at you/” Divine cackled, relaxing and standing up straight.

“Yes, say whatever you want to say but What I have said is final. Dont buzz my brother.” Angela fired back now as she stood up, her face contorting in a little frown.

At the same time, little swirls of air began to fizzle about ehr, making Divine cock an eyebrow at her. But just as it started, it died out quickly, leading Divine to now frown.

‘Oh, I thought we were about to get serious ther.” Divine muttered and then shook her head now. “Turns out you don't have any more gas left. You Are just like the others. You don't have the ability to sustain your powers more than you should be able to.” She said and then snortd, looking past Angela to the rest of the Dining Hall.

“You can hold your powers for longer?” Tega asked her, now interested in the conversation now.

‘Oh, yes, I can. In fact, i don't experience any power burn out like you lots. Which is why I am curious. Wait, are the rest of you like that?” Divine asked, looking at Angela.

ANgela made to speak but then she paused, slikcing her lips instead. In as much as she wanted to answer, she was only here for the first time. There was so much that she did not know as well. And so far, the reception was not nice enough to welcome them in.

At least not yet. For now, the rest of the hall avoided them like they were some kind of plague.

“Yes, everyone has powers. Not all of us though but you see, f you can have powers that do not burn out than I think you can stand up tpt he 3D gang.” Tega said, gesturing ahead of him to the three figures walking to meet Sam. “They think they are some kind of boss just because they can keep us safe from the monsters. They just take laws into their own hands. And Sam, you know, he does not have any power and when he needs to run this place, he has no choice but to rely on them.” He paused, sighing as he rubbed his hands together on the roughneed and somewhat dirty table top. Hate to say it but the three of them are super helpful to us.`` Tega mentioned.

“Don't they burn out as well?” Divine asked. “Like you too? DOnt they have the time when they cannot use their powers?”

“Not possible. Not when they have Dayo with them. Dayo would simply just boost their powers and charge them up again. But she does nto help the others. I don't know.” Tega mentioned now. “That is where the rest of us have issues.”

“Makes sense. They are keeping the power within themselves. That way, they can keep themselves in control even when others have been exhausted. So, I get now.” Divine said and then leaned her buttocks against the table. “If anyone were to get on their bad side, even if they had the whole hall against them, with this girl around, no one can hold water to them, right?”

“Yes, but that's not all. Dafe, the guy in the middle with the black sleeveless and the trousers…” Tega mentioned.

“Hmm! What about him?” It was ANgela who spoke up now.

“He has this super strength of a thing. Then the girly girl to his left? That is Daniella. She can create illusions. If we ever get on their bad side, they can simply stop hiding the hall from the monsters, so we are at ransom now. We have to do their bidding.”

Tega sighed, leaning back even more and shutting his eyes. His body ached but it did not matter. It was not everyday that he got to use his powers. SO now that he had done it, he had felt a bit… Helpful. Unlike having to leave everything to the 3D gang and having to stomach their arrogance.

“Wait, what's that?” Angela said, frowning as she rose up.

However, as she did that, Sam shifted backwards, the palms of Dafe slamming right hard into the middle of his chest.

“Wait? I thought Sam ran this place?” Divine asked, looking at Tega with a look of confusion.

Tega shuddered. “Like I said, nobody wants to get them angry or they can call of their protection on the hall and leave us to die. Sam must have angered them.”

“And that means…” Angela just as Daniella’s slap resounded through the hall. “They can just beat him like that?”

“Who wants to stop them?” Tega whimpered, looking down. “We need them.”

“Like hell we do!” Angela cursed now.

“Oh, fuck this!” Divine stomped her foot and then, following Angeal began to march towards the area of discord.

The entire hall was quiet as people wanted to know what would be the outcome of this event now. They knew how much the 3D gang was helpful to the entire populace. Butthen again, the direction of Sam had been what had kept them at bay so far. The 3D gang only acted out on his instructions. Plus, it was only natural.

He was the head boy.

. But now, to see that they had a discord, the entire hall was gripped with fear.

They did not want bother the 3D gang over fear of the protection they enjoyed but now that Sam was the center of their aggression, who knew if Sam would get pissed?

And if he got pissed, what was he going to do then> Woudl he leave them alone to the tyranny of the gang or would he want to fight back> WHat would be the repercussion of that vene on the monsters out there?

Whatever was going to happen, their lives depended on it. Their hearts pounded with nervous anticipation, beads of sweat forming all over as they watched, some of them praying that something would end this struggle and return things as it were.

“I told you… You cannot keep saving up a portion of the supplies for your own use. People need the, so you get what you need, then next time, we would get enough to restock everyone. There is no preferential treatment here.” Sam said, holding the left of his face where the slap had landed.

“How dare you talk back to me that way?” Dafe roared now. “We do everything for the people here The least appreciation we can get is to get some more of the supplies that you got from the hall as ours.”

In an instant, he raised his right hand, arching it backwards. Simultaneously. His biceps thumped, suddenly gaining bulk as the fist pointed at the face of Sam, ready to unleash.

“You don't get to demand that. If there is anyone who would ever want to ask that. It is them.” Sam pointed his hand towards the position of the two marching girls. “The people who risked their lives to make sure that they got here. Not you who sat back in the hall and did nothing.”

“What?” Daniella cried out, her wavy curls shaking as she pointed her hands to her chest in dismay. “My illusions are nothing?”

“Smash this guy!” Dayo, the girl with the glasses and the slightly plump figure compared to Daniella ordered.

And then, Dafe’s arm began to fly.

Immediately a hand gripped his shoulder then, from behind. Looking back with an annoyed expression, at who had the guts to hold him back, Dafe growled.

“You wanna die?”

“That’s my line!” Divine’s voice sounded, alerting the gang to her presence.

As they turned around now, the girls laughed, seeing as Tolu and Tega alongside Angela stood behind Divine.

“DOnt you know that is it useless to fight back? We hold your lives in our hands!” Dayo said with a smirk as she stretched her hand to Dafe’s right shoulder, her palm beginning to glow.

KA-THUMP!

Wind howled suddenly as a force blast exploded right in the center of Dafe’s left shoulder. In an instant, he dropped to the ground, his lips parting as the feral expression he had vanished.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” Dafe yelled. “It hurts! Hurts! Hurts!” He screamed out, holding his left left bloodied shoulder with his right arm, the muscular build vanishing instantly.
