Work sucks

Before I walked into the big grey office building that was looming over head I took a deep breath.

This is going to be a bad day but you can do it.

I thought with a heavy sigh while taking a sip from my to go coffee cup.

It had already bin a struggle to get out of bed that morning and getting dressed but now standing in front of my workplace I felt even more like I was going to throw up.

Hanging my head in defeat I walked into the lobby and stepped in the elevator.

It's just a day like any other. You only have to work until 5 o'clock then you can go home and go back to bed.

I thought to myself when the sound of the elevator doors opening brought me back to the grim task ahead.

The still air and clicking on keyboards was already starting to give me a headache when I walked towards my desk.

Only seconds after I had taken of my jacket and thrown it over the chair, my manager (let's just call her Karen) was standing beside my cubicle.

"David you are 8 minutes late."

With a fake apologetic smile on my face I turned around to her and said "Sorry miss. The traffic was really bad today.

I promise that it won't happen again."

You are really bad at lying but let's hope she buys it. Said a small voice in my head and I flinched.

Once she had looked at me from head to toe and given me a look as if I had just spat in her coffee.

What I actually would had love to do one day but knew I would probably never have the courage to do so.

She hissed "I better hope not! You know how important punctuality is in this kind of job!"

Then she slammed some folders on my desk and walked off in a huff.

"What a bitch." I heard Robert saying form the cubicle next to mine.

"If she hears what you just said then your head would be the next on the chopping board " I warned him and finally set down.

"Yeah. Right after she gets yours, buddy." he added with a slight chuckle.

I frowned and started up the old computer in front of me.

They should get us new one. Those things are even older than me.

After looking through the files of the two cases which I was responsible for today, I knew that this day was going to be even worse then I had thought.

I got myself a new coffee and then started writing down some reports I hadn't finished.
