Enisia and Epis

Enisia and her small band of hunters had been struggling to fight off a seemingly never ending knot of monsters. As they cut them down more and more seemed to come, they came from the ground under their feet, the trees, and a nether portal. It was relentless at times and slower at others.

Enisia had backed them to a village where the fortifications protected them better, the villagers pitched in here and there, but it was dangerous and Enisia could not give them her blessing as she did the hunters. So eventually the villagers resigned to bringing food and repairing weapons, and staying out of the way during the larger attacks.

She was frustrated, she could neither push forward or retreat. She recognized something about this attack as well, sometimes they had time to sleep, and eat. It was not meant to destroy them so much as hold them and weaken them. Something else would come and finish the job Enisia was sure.

They had spent several days like this, Enisia pressed her hunters to fight harder to see if they could make a small victory and break the hold, but the monsters rose to match their efforts. Eventually Enisia resigned to this. But not entirely.

She had the villagers digging a tunnel out so that they could at least have a chance to live. Everyday she sent more and more of them through as she became more certain what her own fate was, she offered this escape to her hunters but many of them were determined to stay by her side.

The village was almost drained when he came. He came from the hills looking worn but glowing radiantly. Enisia could not quite believe her own eyes.

It was her twin brother Epis. Come back to her.

Epis drew out a bow and began to fire on the fire was a fury that Enisia matched herself. The monsters increased but not enough for Epis hit multiple in one shot. The more that came the more he hit.

The hunters watched in silence, and then began to join in. For the first time in days there were less and less monsters. No more were coming.

Epis put down his bow and stared up at her, she, without thinking jumped down off the wall and rushed to him, a smile on her face.

He smiled slightly too.

They meet and stood apart from each other, uncertain.

"You came. How did you know I was here?"

He shrugged. "I could sense you needed me so I came for you."

She punched him lightly on the shoulder. The hunters had come closer to them now. Azura stood at Enisia's side.

"I know where Craftus's lair is." Epis told them.

They all tensed in excitement.

"He is in the nether, I can lead you."

Enisia nodded curtly then instructed the hunters to prepare to leave quickly, once they were alone again Enisia asked him a question. He smiled and told her that he had been blind to what he was doing.

He knew what the right thing was.
