Sonnis and Neron were gone to the sea. Maiguh, Dinetee, Endra, Dauntice, Elsbeth and Onicent were gone to the End. Only Dio and Rissa were left in the palace together. Rissa was almost at full strength again, thanks to Dio's potions. She walked around her room here and there. The nymphs served them food and tended to her. They could stay at the palace easily, away from the action.
Except Rissa was not being left out.
She was the goddess of chaos and she could feel all around her in the air it was building up and up. She fidgeted constantly, paced uncontrollably when she felt strong enough.
Dio kept being her more and more potions but she didn't want them now. She didn't want to be the invalid of her family. She wanted to fight. Dio hoovered uncertain, his mother wanted him to stay safe and his father hadn't really told him what to do. Finally came the day Rissa limped her way to his lab. He had been mixing together a series of new brews. At first she inquired about them, he showed her the one to blind enemies. A potion that would give you extra strength, which he admitted he had made for her. He had another to resist fire, one to jump higher.
The one he gave Onicent excited Rissa most, one for invisibility.
Finally when she could stand it no longer she told him.
"We need to go and fight."
He sighed and shook his head. "My mom told me to stay here where it is safe. Besides I don't know how to fight. I just make potions."
"Your potions are brilliant, what if we brought them to our family, then they could use them." Rissa reasoned, she had made her voice syrupy. Dio considered and she could tell she was starting to convince him of her idea.
"Then our family would be stronger and faster, and our enemies slower." She told them, then she added, "come on, you don't just want to sit here when your mom is in danger! You could help her too!"
"Fine," Dio told her, "but let me finish these."
Dio made as many potions as he could carry. His entire inventory was filled to the brim with them. He fed Rissa one of strength, and she felt transformed, he gave her a few to keep in case the first worn off too quickly.
Rissa got out a sharp sword and slung it across her back. It all felt so good to her. She met Dio in the hall, the nymphs seemed surprised to see them go. Rissa told them to look after the palace, which they agreed to. They all wished them luck.
