I don't own any of The Vampire Diaries all credits go to The CW. The only credit I take are for the characters I made up. Hope you enjoy! -c

"Sophie get up, it's time for school." Elena yelled from her room across the hall.
I sat up in my comfortable bed looking around my room that was actually clean for once. I got out of bed and looked in my closet for something to wear on my first day back to school.
I pull out a grey sweater and my overall shorts, slip them on then I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and my short brown hair when I see Jeremy brushing his teeth. Unlike Elena I don't push him out of the bathroom, I'm not mean. It was silent while I was brushing my teeth.
Jeremy doesn't like me living in the house, he knows that I don't belong. Ever since my parents got in that car accident with Elena and Jeremy's parents, Elena took me in since I had no where else to go, she has been like a sister to me ever since the beginning.
I walk out of the bathroom, taking my bag and going downstairs to get breakfast. When I walk into the kitchen I see Elena in a red t-shirt and jeans and Aunt Jenna rushing around to get to work. Elena pours herself a cup of coffee and I get myself one also. Once Jeremy gets downstairs Aunt Jenna is just about to rush out the door, I grab myself an apple and ignore everyone's conversation to have one with myself.
'I can do this. It's not like going to high school had been a problem, it's just I don't fit in. I'm not alone though, I'm a Junior with a nice boyfriend who appreciates me, Elena, Bonnie and Caroline who are always there for me. This year is going to be great!'
"Sophie are you coming? Bonnie is waiting." Elena asks standing by the kitchen door.
I look at her with a smile and follow her out the door. When we get outside I see Bonnie's blue car waiting for Elena and I in the driveway. I take the backseat while Elena takes the front.
"Good morning Sophie and Elena." Bonnie says. I buckle up and look back up at Bonnie.
"Good morning Bon Bon." I say in a cheesy way. Bonnie's eyes roll as I look at her through the mirror. I put my headphones in my ears and close my eyes.
~
The car suddenly comes to a stop which throws my body forward. I shriek and look at the windshield seeing that there was a crack, Elena quickly turns around to make sure I was okay, I wouldn't blame her.
"Are you okay?" she asks. I slowly nod and lean back in my seat. I hate cars and especially when I'm in it.
"Oh my God! I am so sorry, I think it was a crow or something that hit the windshield." Bonnie says.
"It's okay Bonnie let's just get to school." I said leaning up to Bonnie's seat. Bonnie nods and pulls back onto the road and we were on our way again.
~
I get out of Bonnie's car as I see the school. This is definitely going to be a long year, I can feel it. As soon as I walk inside the school I can feel the anxiety in the halls, I even start to get a headache. I look down the hall and see Caroline running towards us, I brace myself for her hug, and soon enough her arms are around me so tight, I couldn't even breathe.
"Caroline...can't breathe." I state. She laughs and pulls away and looks at me with a smile. She then sees Elena and hugs her just as tight.
"Oh my God guys! How are you two?" Caroline asks me and Elena. Before we could answer she turns to Bonnie, "They are good, right?"
"Caroline we're right here." Elena says. I widen my eyes and nod looking from Elena to her.
"And we're fine thanks for asking." I say finishing what Elena was suppose to say.
"Really?" she asks.
"A lot better." Elena says smiling trying to look believable. Caroline squints her eyes in concern.
"Okay well see you guys later then." she says walking away, just like that.
I turn around and look at Bonnie and Elena and they both give me weird looks. I sigh and walk away from them trying to find my boyfriend that I missed over the summer since he went backpacking through Europe. A lot of things happened while he was gone, but I hope that nothing will come up.
I finally see him at his locker and he sees me too, he looks so surprised to see me.
"Oh my God, Soph!" Brian said leaving his locker open and running up to me. I run up to him and jump into his open arms. When he sets me down I smile as he grabs my cheeks and planting his lips on mine. When he pulls away I smile and sigh hugging him.
"I missed you so much." I tell him. I hear him chuckle.
"Me too." he sighed. I look up at him.
"Tell me everything." I say with a big smile. He takes my hand and leads me to his locker and we talk and go through some of his pictures before we got off topic.
"Did you hear that there is a new guy?" Brian asks. I looked at him in confusion. I know schools are supposed to get new students, but our school rarely does.
"Don't know anything about him or what his name is, no one does except the office. All we know is that he's wearing a black shirt, leather jacket, jeans and black shades." he says. I shrug.
"Who cares." I say with a smile. I look away from him for a moment to see Jeremy walking into the bathroom with a high look on his face. My eyes go wide and I look back at Brian.
"I will be right back." I tell him, Brian nods.
I hurry off the the boys bathroom and meet Elena there as we walk in together. When we walk in there was a boy washing his hands, he shoots us a weird, confusing look and rushes out of the bathroom. Elena storms up to Jeremy and grabs his face, she forced him to look at her. I look over her shoulder to see what she is looking at.
"Great it's the first day of school and you're already stoned." I say.
Jeremy shrugs Elena off him and looks at the both of us.
"No I'm not." he lies. I keep a straight face. Jeremy sighs and looks back at Elena.
"Is it on you?" I ask. Jeremy shoots me a glare.
"It probably is." Elena says walking up to him going through his pockets. Jeremy pushes her away.
"You need to chill yourself, both of you." Jeremy says. My eyes go wide.
"Chill ourselves? Is that the stoner talk? Dude you're so cool." I say with a snotty attitude, squinting my eyes. I then walk up to him and go through his pockets. He pushes me away and glares at me.
"Look stop! I don't have anything on me. Are you crazy?" Jeremy snaps.
"You haven't seen crazy Jeremy. Sophie and I gave you a summer pass, but we are not watching you destroy your life." Elena says. Jeremy tries to walk away knowing that one of us is going to speech him, I decide to take the honors.
"No, no, no." I say slightly pushing him back. "You know what? Go ahead and destroy you life, but just remember that me or Elena are always going to be there to kill your buzz."
Someone walks into the bathroom causing Elena and I to step away from Jeremy.
"We know who you were Jer and this isn't the guy, so don't be that guy." Elena says in a normal tone.
"I don't need this." Jeremy says walking away bumping me and Elena's shoulders on the way out. I look back at Elena and see that she is frustrated. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"He will come through." I tell her. She looks at me and smiles.
"I'm so glad you're here, you are the one who keeps me from ripping Jeremy's skin apart." Elena says.
I laugh and swing open the door to the bathroom. When we both quickly turn around the corner I ran my body into someone. I look up and see someone I haven't seen before, is this the guy that Brian was talking about?
Light brown hair, green eyes, black shirt, leather jacket and jeans and black shades in his hands. Yup, this was definitely the guy Brian was talking about. Too bad that I'm taken, not that I'm complaining.
"Uh pardon me." the guy says. I look over at Elena who is just gawking the new guy. He finally noticed the door we walk out of, this is a little awkward.
"Is...This the men's room?" he asks. Elena looks at the door then me then back at the guy.
"Yes...um...I... We were just.. Uh." Elena says stuttering almost every word and not even finishing her sentence.
"It's a long story." I say finishing her sentence for her. The guy glances at me for about five seconds at least recognizing I was there then looked back at Elena, how cute, "Come on Elena, we have to go." I say speaking up so Elena wouldn't embarrass herself anymore.
The guy then takes his eyes off Elena and looks at me, he freaks me out a little, but mysterious is what makes a girl want to investigate him a little more by getting to know him. I guess Elena is into that type now.
Elena finally moves, stepping in sync with the guy. They look at each other and smile before stepping the other way together, how long exactly is this going to take? The guy finally smiles and steps back holding out his hand in gesture of a 'go ahead'.
"Thanks." Elena and I both said in sync as we pass him. Once we get away from the guy Elena whispers into my ear.
"Thanks." I smile just as we turn around the corner, but before I could take another step, out of the corner of my eye I see Elena look back at the guy.
"Elena." I say pulling her around the corner completely. We luckily made it to History on class on time, I hate being late.

"Once our home state of Virginia joined confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state..."
I stopped listening to Mr. Tanner and started looking around. I look over at Matt, who is Elena's ex boyfriend. Elena broke his heart at the end of the year last year and I'm pretty sure he never recovered from it. Matt was staring at Elena who was staring at the new guy, which caused the new guy to smile. I look over at Bonnie who pulls out her phone and starts texting. I look back at Elena and realize that Bonnie texted Elena, she smiled as she put her phone away.
Like I said, this is going to be a long day.
~
"His name is Stefan Salvatore. Lives with his Uncle up at the old Salvatore boarding house. He hasn't lived there since he was a kid, military family so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini and his favorite color is blue." Caroline says, she smirks.
Bonnie, Caroline and I were in the Mystic Grill, basically the only restaurant I go to in town. School was done for the day and I was so tired I needed a break from the stress.
"You got all that in one day?" Bonnie asked surprised. I look at Bonnie, she doesn't know Caroline that much if she is asking that question.
"Oh please, I got all that between third and fourth period." Caroline states. She was so proud of herself she flipped her hair to the side. We all looked over and saw Tyler, Matt and Brian all sitting at a table, Caroline walked over to their table.
I looked at Bonnie and we both shrugged and followed her. I wasn't really in the mood to see Tyler just because of our past together but I have to act like nothing is wrong between us so Brian doesn't notice anything.
"What's up guys?" Caroline asks. They all smile at Caroline, Brian wraps his arm around me and pecks my forehead.
"Hey Sophie, haven't seen you in a while." Tyler says. I shyly smile trying to think of something to say to him.
"Yeah well summer went by so fast and so did the first day of school."
"Speaking of school, tell Jeremy to leave me and Viki alone." Tyler says frowning. I look at Matt who was also frowning. I couldn't believe the feelings that Matt is feeling about his best friend dating his sister, horrible.
"That sounds like a you problem." I said with a smile. Tyler rolls his eyes and Matt changes the subject.
"So how's Elena doing?" Matt asks me.
"Don't drag me in the middle of this Matt. You pick up the phone and call her." I tell him.
"I feel weird calling her, she broke up with me."
"Then give her more time." I tell her.
Our conversation stops and my attention goes somewhere else. We all turn around to see the new guy Stefan and Elena who just enter the bar together. The word 'together' repeats in my head. I'm so shocked, I look back at Matt and can tell just by looking at his face that he his pissed off. Matt gets off his seat and walks over to them.
We waited for a while after Matt left the grill that's when Caroline, Bonnie and I left Brian and Tyler together so that we go talk to Stefan and Elena, well it was mostly Caroline.
"So, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asks Stefan. I feel bad for the guy, it was like Caroline was interrogating the life out of him.
"Yeah and moved when I was still young." Stefan nods.
"Parents?" Bonnie asks.
"My parents passed away." Stefan replies looking at Elena and I.
"I'm so sorry." I say. I look down trying not to remember what happened to me and Elena's parents.
"Any siblings?" Elena asks.
"Non that I talk to." he smiles. He keeps looking at Elena, not breaking eye contact. "I only live with my uncle." he says.
Caroline looks at me and I make eye contact with her. She clears her throat on purpose to get their attention.
"So, Stefan if your new then you don't know about the party tomorrow." I look over at Bonnie and see her roll her eyes, I smirk.
"It's a back to school thing at the Falls." I explain in more detail. Stefan looks at Elena.
"Are you going?" he asks. Elena looks back at Stefan not answering.
"Of course she is." Bonnie and I both say in sync. Stefan smiles and nods.
"Then I will see you at the party." he says.
~
"That Stefan guy in into you Elena." I say sitting on her bed.
"No." Elena says in defense.
"Whatever. I'm going to bed, see you in the morning." I say getting up and walking towards the door before I was stopped.
"Hey Sophie?" Elena asks. I turn around, "Don't you ever ask yourself why we're not related, but we look so much alike?" Elena asks. I sigh and shrug.
"Everyone in the world always has someone that looks like them." Elena nods not believing my answer to her question, "To answer your question Elena, I have no idea why. To be honest with you when I first met you I thought I was adopted and you are my real sister, but my parents told me that it was just a coincidence, so I just left it that way." I tell her.
She nods with a small smile. I turn around again and walk to my room. I shut my bedroom door and strip off my cloths to get in my Pj's. I can't believe I lied to Elena, my parents never told me it was a coincidence, apparently I was old enough to know that I was adopted. We were left in the hands of our fathers; our birth mother left us. I guess I didn't want to tell Elena that we're not Gilberts, but someone else. I guess I just don't want to freak her out.
