Chapter 1

"Dad, I'm scared." I said. There were rotting flesh bags around me, and I couldn't stop hyperventilating. I was terrified of what would happen to me.  My dad and I ran to a nearby rundown home, and locked our selves in. There was a stair case to an upstairs, so we went up the stairs and looked for a safe room. We had found an old bedroom, and him and I sat on the floor.

"Dad?" I shivered. "What do we do?"

"We should just stay here," he responded.

"Don't forget to breathe."

And then I woke up.

This nightmare haunted me ever since my dad had passed away, and living in the same old house doesn't help, either. Being 14 years old (but still acting like a baby, I admit) was tough in the zombie apocalypse, especially when you don't know what's going on. But now that it is two years later, I think I have an idea as of how to survive. Get as much food and water as possible, and any weapon is a good weapon. Well, that doesn't matter as of now.

Anyhow, I get out of bed and start to get ready to go out for food. I grab a wooden machete (Which my dad carved me :>) and my bag packed with survival stuff, like first aid kits and the like. I went downstairs out of the bedroom and into what was left of the kitchen. I start to double check if there is any food left, but none is in any of the cabinets.

I start to put on my shoes and walk out of the house, being wary of every step I take. There is a ruined supermarket down the street that might still have some non-perishables. I start to walk down the street to the supermarket when I stop in the middle of the road. There were about 8 zombies crowding the supermarket doors. I started to try to go around the building to a back door, but the zombies then spotted me and ran after me. I was running away as fast as I could, remembering to not freak out. I could hear my dad.

"Don't forget to breathe."

I won't. I thought to myself.

I had kept on running until I had found a fence about 3 feet high. Why a fence of all things? Does someone live here? I jumped as high as I could, and got over the terribly done barb wired fence. And after running for a little longer, I could not believe my eyes.
