It was.... a base. With real people. I could not believe my eyes. I felt happy and secure, but also felt as if I didn't know if i could trust them. Nonetheless, I made my way to approach the camp. However, before I could get a step near a tent, I was approached by a sturdy looking boy who looked like he had just turned 20. He had curly, vortex black hair and his skin was as white as snow.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" He inquired.
"I mean you no harm," I consoled as I set my machete down. "I was just running from a group of walkers."
"Ah. I see." He spoke. This boy was looking at me like I was a new life form. But then-
"You mean that group of walkers down near that supermarket?" A girl asked. She had walked up to me and the boy, with her brunette hair shaved on the side and her hair in a pixie cut.
"Yes, exactly. I was on a supply run, and got spotted." I answered.
"Very well. I'm Jaden. This is Rocco, our master at guarding this base. You can stay for a little if you need. You look harmless enough." He had asked Rocco to take my weapon to their Equipment Tent.
"Sure... how do I know I can trust you?" I inquired.
"I didn't kill you and rob you on the spot, now did I? You were the one who came to us, after all." He had answered. He was right, if he wanted anything off of me it would be easy pickings. Then he had walked to a tent and grabbed a thick looking cushion mat. Then..
"Interesting story. I guess we can let you stay for a day if you keep to yourself." Another voice piped up. It was another boy, with ginger hair and a little scrawny looking. He looked about my age, and he had a girl next to him who looked as old as the black haired boy. I didn't know who these people were, should I trust them? They look kind enough. But you cannot trust everyone. About 10 minutes of silence later, Jaden came over to me.
"We have an empty tent over there with a mat laid out for you." Jaden spoke.
"Really? That'd be awesome!" I exclaimed. Of course I was still anxious, which is why I didn't say anything about the pocket knife in my jeans.
"Thank you so much!" I continued, as I hurried to the tent. Everyone else went silent. That night, I had slept like a baby despite the circumstances.
"Let's dance." I had heard. I was still asleep, who was talking to me?
