The Showdown.

Lisa's P.O.V

I was still stuck to that position and I didn't know what next to do. Then, the most unexpected thing happened; he resurfaced. Oh! I freaking forgot that he could fly. Dumb me! He smirked at me and winked. He knew I fell for his trick and was probably happy with himself. Idiot! I wish he died. Just kidding.

I frowned at him and in response, he made that pleading puppy face. It looked so ridiculous; I just had to let out a loud giggle. But it was still kinda cute.

He landed on the balcony and then I went outside to meet him. "Jerk!" I whispered. Then he swept me off my feet and into his arms I went. Then he took a giant leap from the ground and began floating in the air. It was hard to believe that I was flying again, though being carried, but still… And it's all courtesy of Justin.

I felt goose bumps pop up on my skin. Being in Justin's arms felt so right; I would have wished to be in it forever. He ascended into the midnight sky. I had never seen the moon look that beautiful before.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and I had my eyes glaring at his eyelids because somehow, he preferred to fly with his eyes closed. Like, who does that? I'd have really loved it if we were both staring into each other's eyes. It would have been the perfect romantic condition.

I felt the stiff muscles on his shoulder and his strong scent was pulling me closer to him. I had to pull myself together. Does he know what he's doing to me?

I spotted a large red roof which actually looked pretty small from up here. How high were we? 'cause that building was as large as hell the last time I was in between its walls. I tapped him and told him that we were close.

"That's the school? Cool!" His eyes were open and we were both gazing into each other's eyes now. We were about to get into the perfect romantic situation when he disrupted saying; "Don't scream, okay?"

Wait… why the hell did he say that? What was he about to do? I knitted my brows at him confusedly then I slowly nodded.

"Alright" he muttered before he went diving down like a swallow. He was so fast, I had to tighten my grip around his neck and curled up like a porcupine. My eyes were shut and I was tempted to scream. Maybe I would have if not for the fact that he had told me earlier on not to.

Seconds later, he stopped abruptly.

"You can open your eyes now!" He said invitingly but his tone peeved me.

I saw myself involuntarily shivering and I was still in his arms. My eyes darted to his face and he was smiling; his killer smile. Why the hell was he smiling?? He landed slowly on the tiled floor and then he dropped me. My shivering had reduced a lot now.

I took deep breaths and then I half-yelled in a pretty angry tone; "You idiot! Do you know how frightened I was? And you're even smiling" I felt really pissed. I had grown tired of all that nonsense: He always enjoyed playing pranks on me and could never help smiling when he had accomplished his task. It felt pretty annoying to be the one the tricks were being played upon and the last one triggered me to let out all the anger bottled up inside me.

The first time, he made me fly around the room so fast, I almost puked. Wait a sec… I even puked! And earlier on, he pretended to slip from the railings and fall and now h=this? It was so enraging and I couldn't bear it anymore. I took all of it before but I couldn't anymore.

"Sorry but its just the way I land…"He protested, still wearing a smile. I felt like ripping that smile off his pretty face.

"The way you land what?" I asked, cutting in. "So, how would you explain what you did--" He instantly grabbed me and flew upwards with me.

I saw myself standing on the sill of one of the highest windows in the entire story. Did he know I was afraid of heights? I was not like him who could fly all around the place. I really didn't know what the reason for flying me up to this place was… was it just to shut me up??!

He was standing right beside me and had his index finger pressing against his lips. He probably meant that I should keep quiet but despite my growing anger, I did.

Looking down was definitely going to make me feel sick but I looked down anyways. I saw from the windowsill I was standing on, a man holding a flashlight in his left hand and a staff in the right one. He swept the entire place with the flashlight and luckily, he didn't spot us. He stayed for up to five minutes, taking note of every little sound around him, even the rustling of leaves.

By implication, Justin and I spent five minutes on that windowsill.

As he left, I let out a breath I never knew I was holding.. Justin stared at me with sober eyes but I still kept a moody face.

We still stayed motionless on the windowsill for about three more minutes. Justin probably expected him to come back but fortunately, he didn't. I was tired of staying on that place. He looked at me and then asked me calmly if it was okay for us to come down now. Of course I said yes.

He used his telekinesis to fly me down and then he flew down.

We stood in silence for some unbearable seconds. I knew deep down that I was wrong for yelling at him this time, but I wasn't for yelling at him about the other times. Truth is- both of us were wrong in different ways. We were so damn lucky that he noticed the footsteps or whatever he noticed and hid from him before things could get outta hand. But that didn't stop me from still being annoyed.

"So what were you saying about how you land?" I asked with a calm tone this time. This was the perfect time to get all my questions answered; what was the reason for his reckless and inconsiderate behavior??

"I just land like that… so that people won't be able to see me." He explained. "All they would see is a blur" He added with an innocent and sober voice. I felt so bad that I yelled at him, it wasn't necessary.

"And why did you behave the way you did earlier this night? Why did you fake your fall?" I asked. I wondered what reasonable answer he was going to give for this one. Lemme guess; 'He wanted to test to see if he could fly at midnight?' I felt blood rushing through my body so fast.

"It was… a joke?" He defended.

"What kind of a joke is that?" I breathed heavily. "You clearly didn't think of how scared I'll be. Do you know that I was as frightened as hell 'cause of how much I care about-" I stopped abruptly. It felt so weird telling him that I cared so much about him. Although it was expected, it still felt weird. "you," I muttered.

"I'm really sorry about everything" He said and held my hands. As he into my eyes, I felt my spirit melt.. He looked sorry and I bet he was.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too. For yelling at you and making that guard almost catch us." I couldn't believe that all that anger and annoyance vanished at the utterance of those two words.

"Nah… its fine. I was wrong. I won't joke that way anymore. But I can't make that a promise." He stated and smirked. I smiled too.

"If you do it again, I'll behead you." I threatened jokingly and chuckled. "Thanks."

"Thank you too." Why were we even thanking each other?

"So are we going to break into this school now or what?" I asked with a bucketful of excitement.

*******************

Justin's P.O.V

We had broken into the school easily and had gotten in already. Lisa led me through the halls because she was more familiar with the place than I was. It was my first time here.

It was simply spectacular. It had Japanese art all around the place and pictures of different Chinese or Japanese people that I had never seen or heard about were hung on the walls of every hall. Well, Lisa introduced most of them to me as warriors. Cool!

She led me to a very large room which as she explained to me was the room where the karate finals normally took place. The best ten students normally fought one another and whoever emerged first got a black belt. "Did you ever get a black belt?" I asked curiously.

"No, but I got a brown one. It's almost as good as the black belt." She explained.

"Oh cool!" There were rows of chairs encircling it, like some kind of mini-stadium. There was some large, circular carpet in the middle of the place. It was blue and also kind of soft. It had something written in Japanese at the center which I couldn't decipher.

I got my slippers off and stepped on the mat. "So were going to do unarmed combat without superpowers for a start, right?" I asked for clarification. She nodded. "Okay, I won't retaliate."

"I'll love that!" She expressed and smiled. "I hope you'll love the smell of my fists."

"Gimme what you got!" We both tied our eye masks and she looked pretty hot in it. Like some kinda lethal superhero.

She greeted me in what I think is the Japanese custom: bowing down and clenching her fists together. I copied her and then we began. She attacked me with punches and kicks here and there but I blocked them skillfully. They were probably really fast in real sense but to me, they weren't. So, I had no problem with defending myself.

She'd have probably felt that I was cheating because we weren't supposed to use our powers but it wasn't my fault that they always got activated whenever I needed them.

She threw a roundhouse kick to my face but I ducked quickly. It was so powerful; if I hadn't ducked, I'd have probably landed in the hospital. No kidding.

Now her pupils were blue and she was fighting a lot more aggressively. I honestly have no idea how I was able to dodge and block all those precise attacks. She was probably getting mad that she hadn't delivered any blow since the beginning of the fight so she began to throw them faster. By then, her eyes had already started glowing like neon.

I got kinda confused because she was getting too fast and her moves were unexpected. She finally double swept me off the ground and I fell.

She slumped on the soft mat, right beside me and gasped for air. Her eyes were back to normal.

"You sure you never learnt any martial art??" She asked unbelievably.

"Uhuh. I'm sure I didn't." I said. "I never saw the need-- thought life was all roses." I said and chuckled a bit.

"Jesus Christ!" She interjected. "Then how in the world did you block literally all my attacks?" She asked hysterically.

"I don't know. I guess it was just my instincts."

"Dammit! Your instincts must be really great then." She complimented.

We lay down in that position for about five minutes and then I got up and helped her up.

"Now we should both attack," she declared. She seemed to have already forgotten- never mind. She went to the opposite side of the mat again and we greeted. "Wait. Are you sure you want me to attack?" I was pretty unsure about the idea. She's a girl and who knows what damage I could inflict? And what if I got into my killer mode??

"Definitely!" She said excitedly and with a truckload of confidence. I still wasn't sure but it was what she wanted, so I was going to give it to her.

"Alright then…" I finally agreed and we greeted again then we both attacked. To be honest, she surpassed my expectations by a whole lot: dodging most of my punches and whenever she got the slightest chance, she retaliated with great sharpness.

When everything turned red to me… that was when the actual fight began! I struck her multiple times with punches and kicks and she couldn't block up to two- thirds of them.

I should have stopped attacking her when I saw that she wasn't retaliating much anymore, but I simply didn't. I kicked her, she fell and then I took the opportunity to pin her for three seconds consecutively. I lay down and she didn't move an inch from that position for a couple of minutes. She didn't even speak.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Sure, why not? Those punches were as soft as pillows." She commented.

"Seriously?" I asked though I knew she was being sarcastic. I wanted to find out if maybe one of her additional supernatural abilities was the inability to feel pain.

"No! My whole body hurts!" She admitted. 'Oh, she does feel pain. I should've stopped.' I thought.

"No worries… I asked for it." She said and let out a suppressed laugh. "Ow… my shoulder" She winced in pain.

We stayed, lying down and drenched in our own sweat for up to ten minutes, looking at the beautiful design on the ceiling.

I stood up first this time. I really felt drained and out of energy but I still helped her up.

"I'm going to use my powers now. I want to free myself from all that urge and finally see what I can actually do." She said with an unusual vibe.

"That's good for ya! Well, I'm not going to use mine. They're pretty destructive."

"And mine aren't? Anyways… if I kill you, don't say I didn't warn you!" She warned. How would I even be able to complain if I'm dead? 😆

"I won't." I said and plastered a mischievous grin on my face. Whatever she had in store for me, I had that certainty that I was going to face it and not get hurt. "Get hurt."

"Okay." She finally came into agreement. Again, we got to the opposite sides of the mat and stood there. Her pupils turned blue. As she clenched her fists, those plates of ice went crawling up her arm till half of it got covered. To be honest, it looked pretty cool and fashionable- like some glove made of ice.

'If I die, at least I'll go join my parents.' I thought to myself though I was sure that I wasn't going to die. Something in my mind made me feel so calm and sure of myself. But Lisa looked as vicious as hell! Damn!

We greeted again and she started making some hand movements in the air. Those icicles started appearing in the air and approaching me with unbelievable speed.

The first one approached my head slowly and I quickly dodged. A couple of other spikes whistled past different parts of my body and designed the walls behind me. Some of them even stabbed paintings but it didn't bother me 'cause I believed she had a way to fix everything. She did right?

She kept moving her hands faster and faster until I couldn't see them clearly anymore, and so the spikes went. One of them was approaching my left eye and I knew I didn't have enough time to dodge it so I just used my hand to block it. Surprisingly, the icicle broke and I didn't even sustain any injury talk less of feeling any pain. Wow! New superpower!

I was pretty stunned by it; nevertheless, I still kept trying to dodge them all. Believe me; they were as fast as bullets or maybe even faster. If I didn't have those abilities, I'd probably have been lying dead on the floor with the spikes stuck in all parts of my body.

And I wasn't moving on my own accord. Some unknown force was moving me and I guess I just harmonized with it. It was as if I was in a video game and was being controlled by an experienced gamer. If I was the one controlling myself, I wouldn't have known the spikes to dodge or how to dodge them and I would've been screwed. Damn, they were so many!

Then, her whole iris turned blue too. I was shocked. She now started levitating. "Aargh!" She yelled and then more than a thousand of those things came out of her floating body and went flying in all directions. So many of them were flying towards me and I had to stop them with my telekinesis. To my regret, I couldn't stop the ones flying in other directions 'cause they were too fast. So they stabbed the ceiling, the chairs, the mat, the walls, painting and then they broke through the windows with a loud shattering sound.

Immediately the ones in front of me fell, Lisa also fell gently. As she fell, all the icicles melted into water running down the walls, dripping from the ceiling, getting soaked by the mat or forming puddles on the ground. There were millions of holes everywhere.

I honestly regretted coming to this place 'cause all we did was to destroy it for them. The stained windows were shattered and the whole place looked messy… really messy!

Lisa was on the mat, drained and with her eyes shut. Then the worst thing happened; I heard a couple of sly footsteps approaching the place. They seemed to belong to many people.

"Who is there?!" I heard a deep, masculine voice ask.

The footsteps were getting louder and louder. We were certainly screwed. Oh fuck!
