Chapter 5: Why him?

Noor's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm, I half opened my eyes, rubbed the eyes with my fists. I sat up and noticed that there was no bed cover I looked down and saw that I was on the floor...Well not only on the floor I was on my praying mat. I tried to remember that why I slept on praying mat... but then... I wished I never remembered..

I tried to be strong, took a deep breath and wore a happy mask on my face and stood up. Today's the first day of new job, I felt exhausted as I slept only three hours. I swiftly walked to the washroom, took a shower and changed my clothes. I quickly did wudu and offered Fadr prayer. After praying I put some makeup on and made my way to the kitchen.

Every day at this period I video call mom but I didn't call her this time. I didn't feel like talking to her. So I cooked my breakfast in silence...

'Silence is so freaking loud!'

I hoped out of the car as I reached my destination. I glanced at the huge building-the highest building around here. My neck hurts as I looked up. I examined the building from top till bottom then again bottom to top and noticed the walls were made up of Black glass only.

My eyes moved to the roof I saw a man glaring the ongoing traffic, holding the railings. He looked familiar; I couldn't see his face as he looked so tiny from distance. He was wearing all black; black buttoned shirt, black Pant and black tie, even thou his hair was black. Sun was dancing on my face so couldn't see who he really was. As I started to walk inside the huge building, the thought came in out of nowhere 'What that person was doing on roof? Was he about to jump?' I rolled my eyes at nobody but that person in my mind.

I pulled the glass door to open but guess what? The door made loud 'Tick' sound and didn't open, I nervously looked up, the employees behind the door all of them glanced at me and most of them chuckled. I was too timid to do any action so I just stood there glaring the door handle. After few seconds I looked to the employees and they all went back to their working position as if nothing happened few seconds ago. I moved my eyes to everyone and I found a girl staring back at me. She pointed her index finger to the corner of the door. I looked at the corner, tag has hanging in and it says 'Slide the door to open'... Okay! Once again I hadn't left the chance for everyone to laugh at me... Great, just Great.

After receiving DO's and DON'T's list I walked to the reception.

Almost two hours went by, the outsiders never stopped visiting. Some of them were here for the job interview I guided them the way, others had the time appointed with managers and blah. And even thou two people were here to ask about their destination... like seriously!

I talked to an employee named Brenda, not the whole talk actually just said hello as she was the one who showed me the tag earlier. She was nice to me. Her desk was at the front of my mine, she handed me some papers and keys of the roof, to give it to boss.

'I wonder how proud he would be of his money...Duh'.

Few moments passed by, I was assembling the papers Brenda handed me after I was done with the outsiders, I noticed a hairy hand approached in front of me, black sleeve folded up till his elbow. I didn't look at him I was busy doing assembling the papers. Five seconds passed by he didn't said anything nor did I look up at him.

"Hand me the papers and keys"

He ordered me, but I didn't look up nor did I stop doing my work.

"I'm not giving you, boss will take them by himself." I responded being professional.

"Oh please! I'm the damn boss here" He tossed me a bold response.

I froze in my place carrying the bundles of paper in my hand. I looked up on him; 'Nooo! Why why! Why he? He is my damn BOSS!!! The weirdo and the angry young man... why do I always have to face him everywhere I go??? I met him already two times in a single day and now the next day again him!!!!"

"Helloo, I'm talking to you" He spoke coldly

Back to my senses, I handed him the papers and the keys without showing any sign of uneasiness.

It was lunch break, I didn't feel like eating so I didn't went to the cafeteria for lunch. I was alone in this massive room, rested my head down on the table, playing with the paper weight cube. Every time the cube hits the table, it echoed. Suddenly my phone buzzed echoed. I take a look on the lock screen; the message came from an unknown number. I unlocked my phone and opened the message box.

I stiffed in my place, cold sweat broke out of my forehead as I read out the message to myself.

'Who is this Yah Allah, help me' I could have thought the message is from my dad, but no. I didn't, as I know that he would never text me anonymously saying in the end he loves me... but I didn't know who this could be?

Well I didn't focused on the message that much after few minutes 'cause I thought it would be Tania and Sania doing this crazy stuff to scare me.

My phone buzzed again and notified me that I had to pray Dahur Prayer.

I walked towards the washroom taking large steps as most of the time already got wasted. I quickly did Wudu and walked out from the washroom. I wasn't having any praying mat with me so I decided to pray on the floor.

But which floor?

I searched for any employee so that they can guide me to the quiet room. But guess what I couldn't find a single soul out there. Then I made my way to the stair case, I moved my steps towards second floor as I heard someone talking up there.

I glanced at an over familiar look, wearing all black, walking back and forth in the open terrace, busy on his phone. I couldn't take a look of his face from far as his side was facing me. I remembered he's the same men in the morning was on the roof seems like he was about to jump.

I moved close to him, and ceased my legs as I reached to the center of the room. I cleared my throat which made a little noise, He stopped. He turned towards me and stared right into my eyes.

'Okay... Him again! My so called rude boss... wait he's the one I saw in the morning. Oh God! I'm fed up of him! He is the first person I saw today... This is why my whole first day is going crazy!'

He stepped inside the room from terrace and said, "What do you want?"

'Okay the angry young man is being sweet out of nowhere.'

I swiftly replied, "Can you guide me the room where no one could enter for now?"

"Why do you want me to guide you?" He narrowed his eyes and folded his arms.

'Are you kidding me?'

"Umm... 'cause I found no one around here except you" I hesitated.

"Okayyy! BUT YOU GIRL REMEMBER! DON'T_EVER_TRY_TO_PLAY_WITH_ME"

Once again I feel like he knows me he seemed so sure of his words that I'm going to do something to him. But how could he act like so sure without knowing me. I'm here to do job what else he's thinking I'm here for?...
