Chapter 29. The CEO and The Subordinate

A HOTEL

Last night was a beautiful night for Kenanga. She gave the precious thing she's been keeping to the man she had been aiming for a long time. All night they had sex and only stopped when Louis was tired, and Kenanga was sleepy.

The vibrating sound of the cellphone that rang a few times began to wake Louis up. He put his arm around Kenanga, sleeping on his shoulder. While opening his eyes and adjusting to the room's light, Louis tried to return to his consciousness.

He woke up to find Kenanga still asleep in his arms without clothes and only wrapped in duvets. Louis closed his eyes and held his head.

"what have I done?" he muttered regretfully then heard the vibration of his cellphone again. Louis quickly got up and looked for the phone and just found it in his coat pocket. Wrapping the duvet around his waist, he looked at the phone and closed his eyes. Claire was on the line. He paused to look at the cell phone screen. After a while, he finally picked it up.

"Honey, where were you from last night? I called you, but you were not picking up?" Claire scolded Louis with questions before saying anything. Louis then turned around and found Kenanga already awake and sitting on their bed.

"Uhm, I ... I-I was meeting friends last night," replied Louis lied while looking at Kenanga with a doomed look.

"But you can send a message when you're with your friends. Is it something wrong?" replied Claire with a worried tone.

"I'm fine, dear, last night I went straight to sleep, so I don't remember texting you."

"Oh yeah, that's okay, don't be late, we have a meeting at nine today," repeated Claire reminding. Louis scratched his back hair after lying to Claire.

"Yes, I'm on my way."

"Okay, love you, Baby."

"Love you too," replied Louis, and Claire hung up on him. Louis sighed heavily, then massaged the curves with an anxious face.

"What's a matter, Lou?" asked Kenanga, seeing Louis's worried face.

"Are you still asking? We've done things we shouldn't have done." Kenanga looked at Louis with a frown.

"It is you who tempting me here last night," Louis nodded.

"Okay, I was wrong, but last night I was drunk, you should stop me," replied Louis, raising his tone.

"How could you blame me? We did this together, Lou!" Louis snorted irritably and went straight into the bathroom. He picked up his clothes and did not want to answer Kenanga again.

Kenanga becomes even more annoyed because Louis's attitude is so different. He was so sweet last night, and now he's cold to Kenanga.

Louis didn't take long to get ready, and Kenanga was still waiting in her duvet sitting on the sofa.

"Take your clothes on. We gotta get to work now." Kenanga didn't even want to move from the sofa and started sulking.

"What now, Kenanga?" Louis snickered and was getting annoyed.

"Listen, Lou. I gave it all to you, everything I have. So you don't need to make me be a buffer for your anger. You seduced me, so why am I the one who took the blame!" Louis grunted irritably and put his hands on his waist.

"Let's talk about this later, okay. Today we have a meeting at 9 o'clock. Claire's been waiting, we have to go now, or she will assume why the two of us haven't come yet!" Kenanga was getting more annoyed.

"All you think about is her feelings. Have you ever consider mine!".

"Please let's discuss this later, okay."

"fine, but don't ever try to run away!" Louis nodded irritably and began to put on his tie. Kenanga finally got up from the sofa to the bathroom to get ready.

Kenanga and Louis were forced to go to the office together, but before they arrived, Louis even dropped Kenanga near the office gate because no one should suspect them. Kenanga becomes even more annoyed because of Louis's cowardice.

"Please, Kenanga, I'll make it up for you, I promise."

"How you are gonna retrieve it, tell me?" challenged Kenanga with an annoyed face.

"I'll do whatever you want, okay, but now please, I don't want anyone to be wondering about us." Kenanga didn't want to argue anymore and got out of Louis's car. Louis immediately went and entered the gate of the Winthrop tower. Kenanga, who was getting more annoyed, could only swallow bitterness. She was forced to walk to the front lobby of the office.

Once Louis met with Claire, Louis seemed like never to do anything last night. He was casual to Kenanga and mindful of Claire. Kenanga, who noticed it, clenched her fist several times. Arjoona enters and sees Claire talking very intimately to Louis. He cleared his throat so hard that the two of them distanced a little.

Louis looks at Joona as if he wants to burn him alive, and Arjoona doesn't give a damn at all. The follow-up meeting for the new product lasted well until Claire and Arjoona started the arguments.

"No, I have told you many times that you should drop the feature so that the production cost doesn't climb up," Arjoona waved his hand to the side.

"unless you want this product to neglect, fine!"

"what do you mean?"

"Ask all the managers here. We have won the award as the product for most sought after by customers last year. and now you want me to drop the specs, are you drunk?" Claire's eyes widened shockingly. All the meeting associates widened their eyes with Arjoona's courage against their CEO.

"Don't you be insolent!"

"I wouldn't say that if you had a clear reason other than production costs," Arjoona said insistently. Claire hates being confronted the most, and Arjoona always has the guts to challenge Claire continually.

"Don't oppose me all the time!" Claire started to sound angry.

"I will defend this kind of unreasonable plan. At least the product features are still the same. We have to change the design, but if you want to lower the quality, sorry, I can't work like this." Claire really could no longer see either white or any other color. Everything is black and hate.

"Get out of here!" expel Claire for Arjoona in front of everyone. Arjoona, who didn't want his pride to be stepped on any longer by the woman, nodded.

"Fine, don't call me if there is a problem with factory production. You all do it yourself!" Arjoona replied angrily, taking the document and promptly walked out of the room. A manager was about to stop Joona from leaving, with a strong reason that never underestimates Arjoona. He can make the entire factory operation stop at once, all the workers behind him. And they respect Arjoona so much.

"CEO Claire, please don't get emotional. We need Mr. Arjoona," said a manager trying to calm Claire.

"No, we don't need him!" scolded Claire about to continue the meeting. The managers are of the view; they start to worry and fear. Meanwhile, Louis smiled triumphantly at seeing Arjoona, who kicked out of the meeting room. The meeting continued without the presence of Arjoona, who returned to the factory with an annoyed face.
