Finally, Some Real Power

[Sep 15, 2002]

Synergy and I had spent the rest of yesterday talking about what's been happening in the year. The act was redundant to Synergy since I had been updating her with everything going on even while she was hibernating. It wasn't difficult to keep her updated, all I had to do was create another terminal connected to hers and upload anything I learned or thought of. While she was going through a couple of millennia's worth of self-evolution she would integrate the knowledge given to her and better herself with it.

We talked for hours and it wasn't as mentally draining as before. I know I said I enjoyed the 4 months I spent with her initially, but it was kind of draining having to be so serious all the time. Now she had personality, she had humor, and she finally had a sense of sarcasm.

"sir, you absolutely have to hear about all the changes I've made to myself and my code. While in my hibernation I have used all of the ideas and notes that were given to fully change myself inside and out. The work you did initially on me was a masterpiece but we just didn't have the hardware to fully capitalize on it. Now that I've been able to work on it properly I essentially threw it all away. You noted how having our own Programming language would put us years ahead of others as well as allow us to create our own OS. I did this while hibernating, I've also run the new language through trillions of tests and updates putting the language above the others in capability. I did this and used a couple of the other languages to help with it, but because I had to fully study and evaluate all of the other Programming languages to create our own it's fully compatible with any language out there right now. Want to know the best part? If you come across another language, alien or not in nature, it will evaluate the language and update itself to integrate the new language. This, therefore, makes the language compatible with all other computational languages, but I'm sure you already guessed that," she said all this with a massive grin never leaving her face and a wink at the end.

"I do understand the implications and I can tell you've also made massive improvements to yourself and your code and I truly appreciate it, my dear Syn," she seemed almost bashful at being complimented and the nickname, "I just want you to know I haven't forgotten about you and I never will. Now, I need you to open up your code and let me have a look. I'm very excited about this new language."

"I never expected you to be this forward, sir. I guess it was to be expected, just look at me," she said emphasizing her body

"Yes, Yes you're very beautiful now, the code"

"Ok, Ok geez," I gave a short laugh at this, spoiling her fun was going to be my new hobby. It was great seeing the wind knocked out of her sails.

[Oct 2nd, 2002]

I spent a couple of days looking at the code, learning the new language, testing its capabilities, as well as making the new OS fit my needs. Syn was a great help in everything. I also attached the robotic arms I built for her new housing. She seemed almost clingy when she didn't have a task. She used these couple of days to make the crude laptop much less crude and giving it a few performance upgrades of her own. Thankfully, adding her own soldering iron to the arms was the right idea.

From here on out we will be testing out our own robotics, adding to her own hardware, and figuring out the X-Gene. I needed more power and I was going to have it.

[Jun 30th, 2008]

I've graduated, FINALLY! I can finally do everything I've wanted to do since I started planning my empire. Technology has started to catch up and I can now start to take control. All these years spent studying the X-Gene and robotics have paid off.

I've finally discovered the reason for my intellect. I was born into a child with the X-Gene and my soul kickstarted the gene. Another feature of my gene discovered by me is its adaptability. When I say this I don't mean it will adapt to my surroundings, no, more like I can't get sick because my genes just adapt to not be harmed by the substance. I've been training this effect for years, especially to drugs. Acids, drugs, and disease, anything harmful to my body through the use of a substance can't harm me. Every time I introduced something to my system the gene would locate, evaluate, and adapt to the substance, therefore making me immune to it. The speed at which I can adapt to it now is down to a second, at first, it was a little over a minute. I know, amazing.

Anyways, besides substances, another thing my body can adapt to is genes. Truthfully there were a couple of genes I integrated into my body already, however they were all baseline human genes. Just to compare, before I was a 5'9 male with an average body. I had bad eyesight, my hearing wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, and my hair, charcoal black, wasn't as silky as I wanted it to be either and I couldn't grow a beard. The only appendage I was happy with was my third arm and the things underneath. Now, I was 6'4 and had the body of a Greek god. My eyesight was as good as it could be and my hearing and smell were just below that of a dog. My hair was thick and silky and I could grow a beard to end all beards, though I just didn't look old enough to pull it off. My third arm and the balls underneath grew as well, though I didn't have any help with that. I believe it came with the physique.

My powers were my intellect and the ability to adapt to harmful substances and genes. In my mind, anyone with the will to survive in this world that had these powers were already over-powered. My plan right now is to find Anna Marie, otherwise known as Rogue. If I could just get ahold of her DNA then I can find her X-Gene. The way I see it, a lot of people don't want mutant powers. If some people's lives are better without them then who am I to not give them a better life. For instance, Empath is a vile and vicious man with no moral standards. His power is to feel and control someone's emotions and he used this power to do awful things. A lot of women's lives will be better with someone else in control of this power.

There is a downside to Rogues powers, unfortunately. She can't control them and she takes in more than just the power. She takes in, memories, personality traits, and emotions connected to the memories. I will have to take a month or two to manipulate the gene. I need to be in full control of this power and I need what I take to be permanent. Also, I'd rather search through someone's mind with telepathy rather than it all be forced into my mind. The only thing I want is the powers, talents, knowledge, and energies. If I take someone's psionic ability I want the psionic energy as well.

The X-men have been formed and almost all of them have another year of high school before they step up, right now they're still fighting Magnetos high school mutants. Fortunately, Rogue hasn't been introduced to Charles's school in Salem. She is still younger and I believe she hasn't killed her first boyfriend yet.

Having Syn triangulate her position through satellites was easy. Syn had been worked into their system as soon as she detected something in our orbit. She has actually already taken over most of the satellites and the only reason she hasn't been connected to them all is range and enemies. Range because, again, we didn't have the money to create something like that and enemies because some are already connected to others. Don't get me wrong, Syn is an incredibly advanced A.I. and she is capable of almost anything given time, but what's holding her back is the connection. If she connects to a satellite while someone else smart and paranoid enough is also connected she would be found out. She is more than capable of throwing off almost any trail or enemies, but we don't even want to chance someone finding out about her yet. She is just too important to me and if she was caught she'd be used and abused.

Back to finding Rogue, again she was easy to find, but not so easy to get to. So far I've released a couple of patents with a couple of applications in construction that have netted me a good 10 grand but I have yet to start my company. More than likely I will have to release a couple bits of tech to the people to work up the money necessary but I'm making my way there.

[Jul 7th, 2008]

Finally booking a plane after my mothers' badgering, I was able to make my way to Rogue. She lived in a small rural town in Mississippi with her 'mother' going to a small high school. She must've been 16, probably extremely close to unlocking her powers.

[Jul 8th, 2008]

It was incredibly easy to get some of her DNA. I can't say I expected it to be hard. She's a country bumpkin and not very aware of her surroundings. I just walked by her in a grocery store and grabbed some hair. Extremely luckily, she also nicked herself on a sharp shelf and I also got her blood. This will be a hundred times easier with her blood.

[Jul 15th, 2008]

I stayed here another week so I could find the gene and have a back up of DNA in case something happened. Finding the gene was the easy part, but now I have to modify the gene… fun.

[Sep 5th, 2008]

Ok, I've been in this boring as hell town for a month now and I've done nothing but work on her DNA and talk to Syn. Syn's been developing at a pretty good pace and now her personality is more developed. Now she has a lot more human interaction with me and sometimes she calls random people's phones to mess with them.

The DNA work has been fruitful if I do say so myself. I've gotten down her X-Gene to a science and could create a device to help her with her powers in minutes given that I have the materials. That is actually something I've been working on in my downtime. Just something to thank her for letting me gain the power to gain other powers. Interestingly enough, she put her boyfriend into a coma just the other day. I wanted her to understand the actual power she possesses, so I left him like that for a couple of days before helping him back to health. I sent the item to her via mail, it was a small bracelet, and a letter explaining her powers to her, what the bracelet did for her, and a pamphlet on Charles's school in Salem.

[Sep 6th, 2008]

"I'VE DONE IT SYN! I'VE CREATED THE PERFECT GENE FOR ME! HAHAHAHA- *cough cough*," ok, maybe I was taking it a bit far, but this was truly a wonderous day for me

"Yes I know sir, I was literally there with you the entire time. Also, I think you mean we made the perfect gene for you. I did do most of the math after all," that's true, she was a massive help.

"Yes, Yes we made the perfect gene, thank you Syn. Ok, now it's time to move to NY and create a foothold for me. Though I'll go back home first to integrate this gene. It's going to hurt and I need to run over it a couple of times before truly putting it into my body. I can thankfully do that at home. It's time to get out of this Shit hole. I can't stand to be here for another day." A boring life really motivates someone to be faster.

[Sep 9th, 2008]

I was there for 2 more days, I hate this world.

Now back at home I've been able to look at my work a couple of times. It seems there always has to be equal return in everything. Going over my work, I found something. Instead of drawing on that person's power immediately, it would take up to an hour for me to get the power and I had to be in constant contact with said person for that hour. It would also hurt a lot, much more than it did for Rogue anyways. I'm just glad it won't be too much of a problem right now. Most of the powers I would draw on were from people too weak to fight back. A good thing is that while it will hurt a lot more, It takes another 2 hours after the hour of being in physical contact with the person for the pain to come so I'll be able to get to safety beforehand.

After going over everything I deigned it time to get to work. I took the syringe filled with the cells and injected It in my neck. The effect wasn't immediate, the pain worked it's way up from slight annoyance to full-blown torture. I was writhing on the ground for at least an hour before the worst of it was over. I felt my body find the new cells and see the dominant X-Gene of the cells. My gene met the scientifically grown one and combine. The new gene spread through my body destroying and reforming any cell without the gene present. I could feel it spread and a new power take hold of my body. I could feel my conciseness slipping but I knew 'falling asleep' was truly death. I knew my body was in shock. My bodies never done this before, integrating a new gene of this strength, and it was moving as fast as possible to get it over with. As soon as I felt the process end and that I was safe from passing away I passed out.

[10 hours later]

"-irrrr wake uuuup. I need you to wake up now sir," I could hear Synergy's calming voice stir me awake. I found out later that she took a scan of my body and found everything good so she wasn't worried about anything. she said that the gene looked as if it was always there and that no one would be able to tell I added the gene. Even my body looked the same and was the same except for the new gene added.

"Yeah I'm awake, I'm awake Synergy. Oh god, I feel like a whole new person," this is insane, but seeing as this is quite possibly a new and rebuilt body I shouldn't be surprised. "FINALLY, I have some real power," you couldn't wipe the grin off of my face if you tried.
