Tatical Retreat

The dead fall back as the templar gives chase, he raises his hand as the skies rumble in golden light. Dropping it as he roars "Charge! Let not a single dead stand! Drive them back!"

Adilen raised his hammer, blood at the end dripping off of it. Flesh sticking on like bloody bubble gum.

Fyr was a meat paste, she had screamed, her magic didnt save her. Kent tried to stop him but Adilen let go of his hammer to bathe in Fyr guts. He snapped the man's neck before ripping off their head to add to his collection.

Squik squeaked trying to deploy his newes- nope!

Adilen grabbed his ankle smashing him into the nearest soldier. Using him as no more than a weapon until Squik's body became too mangled and did not serve as a weapon any longer.

He dropped the corpse.. Leading him to now. Where he picked his hammer up to sheath it.

"Rally on me we need to- gahhhuhh!"

¡THU'UM!

A golden light threw Adilen off his feet. Groaned as pain registered in him.. Wait..

Pain?

Adilen took to rise quickly. They needed to go, calling out to the wights. "Fall back-"

Interrupted again he heard a deep voice mock him.

"Pathetic.. That's all it took? It took this.. This? To mimic even a fraction of humanities power? A pity.. Oh? You lived.."

All his wights were fallen, their bodies turning to dust.. Damnit.. All at the behest of a man in bulky divine armor.. A templar..

The man seemed to grin. "RUN"

Adilen picked himself up, turned on heel and ran. The skies above churned with golden clouds, the templar staring intently into the forest. Soon after bodies were picked up and the road cleaned, more troops deployed.

Yet that is when suddenly the templar reached his hand out and grasped the air at the dismay of everyone. Too quick to see the blue bolts about to plaster them dead.

The templar pulled towards him. All the bolts shattered into blue shards. Raining on the soldiers harmlessly, watching the Lich run scared.

"Rally my troops, a crusade against the dead is due.."

###

Duth didn't understand how powerful that man was. A golden pillar roaring into the heavens.

He needed to rally on Garlen, there he could mount a plausible defense.. Or die trying

He called to the dead all of them. "Retreat to Garlen, a powerful foe chases us. Await for me there!"

He let his voice broadcast the dead across all ranks heard. Run he said, run and reroute. Though a first, they followed. The dead pulled back from Farevie whilst both Farevie and the Templar rallied their troops. Both forces wanted the dead to end in an overwhelming defeat.

Now the time has come, the templar and Farevie's troops.

Verses.

Duth, his generals and those still rallying to his side.

It was all or nothing. A battle of legendary proportions encroaching. The storm soared and prepared, clouds rolling in golden light.

If the dead wanted a war, well they got one.

|Garlen 24 hours after the dead returned to its broken walls|

Duth could not sit still, his mind racing at the forces that were encroaching. He didnt have the power to face the enemy head on. Even with legions, there had been losses. Like a legion and a half of troops, and Jelu was left in a severe state. He was essentially out of the fight. Whilst the others had gained levels but not enough to fight the big man. If he threw all his death knights at the templar, they would all die like wet paper against a gatling gun.

He signed

Yet news came before the enemy arrived.

"Sire.. An entourage has arrived, your nobles.."

Oh? Perhaps.. "Come in"

A handful of vampires entered, alongside a man in full white. A tag along?

Well yes, Buer tagged along after realizing the dire situation at Farevie. But more on that later.

"Sire, I am Bael and this is Floyd, that is.." Names aside Duth nodded at each, he could care less about names. The current issue is too.. Lucrative to pay any mind.

"And you?"

Duth looked at Buer, who introduced himself kindly.

"Buer, an acquaintance of Bael. At your service."

Duth nodded..

"How strong are you all?"

Bael frowned

"Sire we are your nobels and friends, if anything comes up we shall fight it in your stead."

Duth nodded.

"Good, i'm going to need all of your support"

"May I ask why?"

Duth pointed to the horizon. A pillar of golden mana standing just past tens of thousands of troops. Banners raised, the armies stand at the ready as Duth answers his question.

"A templar has come for us."

They looked at each other. "This.. Is a..uh"

"Problem.. Yes i agree."

Buer said next. Duth crossed his hands behind his back. "But one we must solve through violence. Prepare yourselves."

He called forth his death knights. "You're to stay and fight with your legions. Do not join the battle between me and the templar. I wish to see you live. Not die at the hands of a worshiper. Understood?"

The death knights begrudgingly nodded.

"Now go and prepare yourselves, the fight ahead will be bloody.."

They had an hour before the battle began. Rallied armies making their last preparations.

It's all or nothing.

To all readers who have reached this point, please be aware. I have decided to stick to the main story, any side arcs, character stories and the likes will be placed in side stories. I dont want to bog the main direction of the book too much. That said, side stories are being worked on but likely wont be released until either this book finishes out or i feel it right to post. Side story means the auxiliary volume.
