Response and Reaction [55]

I had biology after Lunch. Cee and I parted our ways from the cafeteria and moved to our scheduled classes. I took my regular seat in biology beside the window. A few minutes later, Lucas joined me on our shared seat. He placed his textbooks on the table and relaxed in his seat with his legs stretched under the table and his hands were folded across his chest.

"Hi!" I smiled at him.

His charcoal eyes sliced into me, and the corners of his mouth tilted up. "Hello." He said and turned his head slightly to the left in my direction. "I believe it's one of those rare days when you would actually notice me."

I didn't realize what he was up to, so I decided to play along even though I knew it won't end well. "That's nonsense. I notice you everyday." I babbled without giving it a thought and promptly regretted my words. The ball was in his court now. I had tried to being nice and look how well that turned out.
