Chapter Two : Her Frozen Heart

All the pain caused her heart to froze and her trust to fade. She started making men fall in love with her then dumped them. She just don't trust anyone, not anymore. That's why she chose to leave them instead of being left behind---broke into pieces. Although she suffered too much, the kindness stayed inside her. Even if she sometimes denied being good, it always came out at some ways.

She found other men pitiful. She loves staying with those who's in need, those who's unloved. But there comes a time when she became so tired sacrificing her happiness by forcing to love someone when all the she really has to do is give some advice or cheer them up.

"Ugh, stop following your best friend like a dog! She already has a boyfriend, you're just her boyfriend with a "space". Know your place dude."

Evangeline starts an advice and suddenly her words starts a comfort. Comforting someone with a bit of a flirt.

"Find someone else, someone who's willing to love you as her man. Luckily you already met her, "she said and wink to the guy in front of her, Marcus.

"Um so will you? I mean would you love me more than a friend?" he asked. So she answered

" Of course! I have loved you ever since and I'll always will." She said and kissed his cheek without saying anything.

She tried her best to love Marcus. She made him believe that they'll last forever. She showered him with sweet talks.

"I love you to the moon and back."

"I love you and I'll always will."

"I love you so much."

She said those words, but at the back of her mind she asked,

"Am I happy about this? Do I really love him or I stayed just because of mercy?".

Months passed by and she hasn't made up her mind about the love she felt. She doubts their relationship and she's not that happy in the arms of Marcus. So she tried to have fun.

Then she met a guy named Rhyker. That's the guy who made her fall in love after all the hatred inside her. She made up her mind and confirmed that mercy is the only thing that's making her stay with Marcus. Because her happiness lies with the new guy she met. But Rhyker made things more complicated with her.

Because he's already taken and he loves her princess so much. Evangeline wants to be Rhyker's princess, but she's not that bad to ruin a happy relationship. So she spends months on moving on.

She tried to work things out with her and Marcus but she can't. The truth came out, she really stayed with Marcus just because of mercy and guilt.

She became so tired about sacrificing her happiness for someone else's, so she slowly broke up with Marcus without saying a word. She just makes him feel that she doesn't care anymore.

She made him see for himself that Evangeline is not having fun.

She avoided spending time with him and when she did, she showed him how cold she was. All she wanted is for Marcus being the one to break up officially.

But Marcus loved her so much that he stand all the pain of having Evangeline's words and promises but not her heart and happiness. Marcus didn't let go even if it's obvious that he's the only one holding on.

While there goes Evangeline, feeling so tired about all her sacrifice to pick up the men who's been dumped by other girls. So tired that she became immune to all Marcus' tears.

She found a way to fight her kindness and finally tried to start living her life for her own happiness.

A new school year started and she made a promise to herself.

"Okay, focus on studying and don't start any flame so that things wouldn't get so complicated." she took a deep breathe and enter her room.

"Oh, there are so many people here. Argh, there is no more chair lift." she said and left a sigh.

Luckily, she's obviously pretty and a pretty girl always have a seat. Men came running to give her a seat. It's so flattering on her side. After taking the seat their teacher called all of those who just came and asked them to stand in front of the blackboard. That's when she met her very first friend on their batch, a 17 year old girl that later on confessed that she's a bisexual and having a relationship with a girl.

Nothing changed, she still treated her as her friend. Evangeline never sees people by their genders.

She enjoyed her fresh start with new people.

She has no idea about the new person who'll make her a new person herself. He's hiding behind the corners, staring at her, loving her secretly. Unlike any other men who came running together, this man didn't have enough guts to do so.

So he just looked at her from afar.

So the day that they finally bumped into each other is obviously destined.

On the 24th of June year 2019,

"Oh, where's that thing!!!" she said while having a teary eye because she can't find her earphones.

"Music is my life, and I just bought that!" she added while walking down the stairs and stopped on the side of the faculty rooms.

She kept searching her bag, she even brought everything out and in again and again but she couldn't find it. She thinks and think about where she might drop it. Then her silence was broken by the man beside her.

" Calm down, let's find it. Maybe it's still in our room somewhere." his words gave Evangeline a little hope.

So they climbed up the stairs and went inside their room. They searched every corner, but still, what she's looking for is nowhere to be found so they just went back down the stairs. But while walking, the man lends his hand and gave something.

"What is it?" she asked.

"It's yours, you can have it and please don't refuse." he answered as he gave his earphone to her.

Many things come up in Evangeline's mind.

" What's going on? Why did I take a present from someone I don't even know? Oh gosh, doesn't start again!" she said to herself.

She felt happiness and at the time for. A great fear about the tension going on between her and that guy. But she swore to herself that she'll focus on studying for the mean time and added to that is the fact that Marcus is still on her way, he's not giving up!

It took more than that present to make she broke her promise from her.

But, will it?
