Chapter 40: Terrible Truth

SWIFT…

The fire beam hit Elder Du's lower body, but it didn't explode at the impact, instead expanded from the origin towards the feet and the groin area.

The intense pain and the burning sensation coming from there finally woke up the old man, who was still in that crazy state.

AHHH!!

He started shouting and slapping the flames, but their speed and power were too fast and the old man could only stare at his legs powerlessly.

Bai Lang looked at the old man with terror because in just a few breaths, he saw his legs turn to ashes.

But the strange thing was that after the flames burned his lower body, they didn't dissipate, but kept floating in the air a few inches from the old man's chest.

Luckily, they didn't drop towards the other half body, but transformed in a streak of red light and darted outside of the barrier.

Bai Lang kept looking at the same point, with a shocked expression, but turned around when he heard his wife's shout coming from his back.

"LITTLE RED… LITTLE RED… where are you?"

Seeing the last part of Red's body disappeared in front of her eyes, shocked Zhu Huli and she only recovered after the flames darted away.

She started shouting and searching for her everywhere, but in the end, she still couldn't find any trace.

"Lang… Lang… Little Red… She is gone…"

"Don't worry… she should be fine… I think she transformed her body into those flames… Damn… even I find it hard to believe…" Bai Lang reassured her.

"What?? But…" Zhu Huli stared at him, but after thinking for some time, shouted: "Right… her body was so strange… Let's go back…"

Zhu Huli ran out immediately, but Bai Lang first picked up that wonderful sword and then dragged the unconscious old man by the hair out of the barrier.

After Red killed the Saint Lord, Tian Yang didn't waste any more time and killed immediately the four Martial Lord, but captured alive the Martial King and Martial Emperor cultivator.

It wasn't easy for him to fight a Martial Emperor alone, but with the help of his fast speed, after a few minutes, he finally defeated the young man.

After he rested enough, Tian Yang started talking with Old Tian.

"Mmm… They should be enough for your research, right?"

"Yes… with these two and the old man. I should be able to identify, what they are…" Old Tian confirmed, a little excited.

"Hmm… good. But I'm more curious to know from where they are coming… why they can use that strange energy…"

"Give me some time… we will search their memories and find out the truth, in an instant…"

"Fine… What about Liang'er?? I know that you have collected enough space power from our last dual cultivation… when are you going to give her the Heavenly Jade Bloodline?"

"We can start after she wakes up. But if we use it for this, our reserve would be exhausted again… Are you sure?"

Tian Yang thought for a moment, before saying: "Yes… we can collect more another time…"

"Fine…"

After a few minutes, Zhu Huli appeared a few steps from Tian Yang and shouted, with a hurried tone: "Little Yang… Is Red, fine??"

Tian Yang was a little alarmed by her sudden appearance, but hearing her words, he looked at her with a shocked expression: "What are you talking about?? She is fine, of course…"

Sighing with a relief expression, she patted her chest and asked after calming down her turbulent heart: "Good… I was so worried… where is she??"

Tian Yang narrowed lightly his eyebrows a little confused by her words, but still answered with a calm tone: "She found a safe place to recuperate her energy… after all, the battle was too intense."

"Oh… she told me indeed, she couldn't stay here for too long… sigh, it's a pity…"

"Don't worry, you will have a lot of opportunities to meet her, later…" Tian Yang reassured her, but then cried out looking at Bai Lang and the half old man, who was falling from the sky: "Is he still alive?"

Bai Lang threw the old man to the ground and said with a nonchalant expression: "Don't blame me… It was your little girl, who reduced him to this state…"

"Uh…" Tian Yang sighed, looking at the terrible condition of Elder Du.

"I will leave him to you, but I want to know all the information that you will discover from them…" Bai Lang pointed at the three prisoners and then asked in a serious tone: "But now, you must tell us… what is happening to our daughter…"

Tian Yang nodded without hesitation. After all, she was their daughter, and eventually, they would find out the truth.

"Fine. Let's go back, first. I already sealed their cultivation, so we will put them inside the hut, for now"

After sealing the three prisoners there, they brought YueLiang inside her room and laid her unconscious body on the bed.

There was no longer that awkward atmosphere of before, but all of them had a worried expression on their face.

Tian Yang was silent for a while.

The only thing he did was to watch her beloved, with a troubled expression. Those memories were really a tremendous load for her souls, but there was nothing he could do.

Zhu Huli also stood at the other side of the bed and kept caressing her daughter's face all the time, as if wanting to warm her soul with her palm, but couldn't endure anymore so-called out again: "Tian Yang…"

Tian Yang didn't let her finish and instead asked, with a serious face: "Fine… did she tell you something about, her parent?"

Bai Lang and Zhu Huli looked at each other for a moment, before speaking: "We only know, that they died when she was only a little girl…"

"Sigh… Right… she lost her parents when she was only ten years old…" Tian Yang sighed with a sad expression.

"Only ten… poor, my little girl… What happen later?"

"It a little difficult to explain even for me… you need to know that she is not a normal cultivator. When she was only a child her space power was so strong and abundant… and you can imagine, all this power inside the body of a little kid… It's too much and impossible to control…"

"Tian Yang… don't tell me…"

They weren't stupid, from his words they already understood something, but it was really hard for them to believe it.

But Tian Yang continued with the story, instead of answering: "She was only a child and didn't even realize her action… She blamed herself for their death for over three hundred years, and that obscure shadow followed her for all this time… Qiang'er explained to me everything, or at least what she saw that terrible night…"

As they kept listening, Zhu Huli had her face already covered in tears and even the always calm Bai Lang couldn't endure anymore, thinking of how much her daughter suffered for all these years… Damn… three hundred years of remorse and blame, were really too much…

"Did… did she kill them?" Zhu Huli asked, with a trembling voice.

"… No… But their deaths are unfortunately related to her… That night, somehow her powers opened a portal to a different place and a terrifying creature came out from it… Its power was too strong and their parents did the only thing possible at that moment… they sacrificed their lives to protect their two daughters…"

Zhu Huli was a tenacious woman, but her precious daughter was the most important thing in her life, and hearing this terrible story, made her heart broke, just thinking at the immense pain that her daughter felt for all these years.

She crawled closer to YueLiang's head and wrapped it inside her warm embrace.

She looked for a while at that beautiful little face in front of her and a lot of memories of the past years flowed inside her mind…

She tried to think at the lively little girl and at her wide smile on her face when YueLiang was only ten years old, but now the only picture in her mind was a tiny face, full of tears and sadness, suffering from an awful pain.

It was really too much for her always joyful heart, so she rested her head on her daughter's beautiful silver hair and began sobbing silently.

Even Bai Lang's body began shaking.

Inside his heart, there was a mix of anger and pain that was difficult to control.

He was a man of action, a madman for swords, but his loved for them was even greater, and looking at his two most important women in his life in this condition, made him sad…

It was the first time after almost twenty years that he felt so powerless…

Tian Yang wasn't stupid and seeing their condition, looked for one last time at YueLiang, before leaving the room silently.

Tian Yang didn't stop there and instead went directly toward the hut.

He wasn't worried for YueLiang with them at her side, so it was time for him to take care of those scum…
