Chapter 97: An Unexpected Event

YueLiang's hand rested on a strange invisible surface.

She tried to press harder and harder, but nothing changed because that invisible barrier prevented her any action.

"Strange… This barrier is filled with a strange power. I can perceive an incredible amount of space energy, but there is also something else that I have never seen. It's such a weird feeling…" YueLiang mumbled as the palm of her hand lightly brushed the surface.

Zhu Huli descended from the sky, and she too placed her hand on the surface: "You're right... It looks similar to my ability, Space Seal, but the properties of this barrier are on an entirely different level. The person who managed to create such a thing is truly terrifying."

"I don't care if the one who created this damned barrier is strong. I'll break that bastard's face when I find him. How dare you imprison my sister… Bastard!!" YueLiang snorted angrily and then placed both her hands on the surface, with the intent of destroying that stupid cage.

Zhu Huli looked shocked at her daughter because it was the first time she saw this side of her.

'Damn... the YueLiang of the past was a rather arrogant little chap... "Zhu Huli thinks to herself, and then she smiled with satisfaction: 'It's strange... but I like it... deep down, she reminds me of my young self...'

Zhu Huli observed her daughter carefully, but she didn't notice anything particular about her, so she asked, confused: "Liang'er, what are you doing?"

"I want to see what lies beyond..." YueLiang replied calmly.

Zhu Huli shook her head and said, with a strange smile on her face: "Hehe... I don't think your power is enough."

"Mom... you're underestimating me a little too much..."

After regaining all her memories, YueLiang was her old self again.

It took her a couple of days, but in the end, she was able to adapt most of her past abilities to her new body.

Unfortunately, the difference in power between the old self and this one was enormous, and the energy available to her was tiny.

She knew well that she couldn't open a gap big enough in her current condition, but she YueLiang still wanted to test her current level.

An immense power began to flow out of YueLiang's body in the form of a black cloud and gather around the tips of her fingers.

In a few moments, that mass of energy concentrated above her nails and transformed into long black ebony claws with bright white points on her extremities.

"Not bad... the power is a bit weak, but it should be enough to open a small gap." YueLiang smiled in satisfaction and then pushed the sharp tips on the barrier with all her strength.

Unfortunately, the claws generated by the power of space could not pierce the barrier even an inch.

So after a short time, YueLiang infused even more power by straining her body to the maximum, and finally, after a strange noise, small slices appeared.

An intense golden light came from the small cracks, even brighter than the moon high in the sky.

However, the girl ignored that light because she could feel tremendous resistance from the barrier, so she tried to see inside before the cracks closed.

But what she saw inside shocked YueLiang to such an extent that her body began to tremble.

She tried to press her fingers with even more force, but it was all useless because those small gashes closed again, preventing her from seeing inside.

After the cracks closed, the girl turned toward the flying ship and cried out, with tears in her eyes: "Grandpa, help me!!!"

The battle for the Profound Sapphire City was over, or at least that's what almost everyone believed.

After recovering her energies, Xifeng immediately reached the battlefield because that dark presence, previously perceived, had not faded but had become even more terrifying.

A terrible feeling overwhelmed her, similar to the one she experienced that horrific day.

She knew something scary was about to happen, and she was terrified.

She had recently received news of Tian Yang, so she could not die again.

She wanted to live and find the people she loved.

She did not even deign to glance at her young enemy, captured by the two twins, and began to fly over the area with her heart beating.

The twins immediately noticed Xifeng's strange manner, so they approached her, and Xue asked in a confused tone: "Young miss, what are you doing? The battle is over... There is no one else here."

Xifeng ignored Xue and shouted in a shaky voice: "Stupid! There is something else around here. Something extremely evil. We must find it before it's too late!"

Unfortunately, it was too late.

Before the twins could utter a word, three long green roots, wrapped in a strange miasma, came out of the ground and rushed towards the three girls like poisoned spears.

Their speed was incredible, but Xifeng was ready for any unexpected events.

She dragged the two young girls backward with fast movements, avoiding those lethal spikes by a whisker.

But Xifeng hadn't foreseen a thing.

The spikes, which were previously directed in one direction, suddenly bent and continued their advance.

Shocked by the unexpected movement, Xifeng instinctively released a powerful wave of golden flames to stop those deadly spears.

Unfortunately, the flames were not powerful enough and only managed to deflect their direction a little.

The roots, feeling that force oppress them, moved even faster, finally reaching the three girls.

Xue and Yue managed to avoid the ones heading towards them because the flames had efficiently deflected their direction, but Xifeng was not so lucky.

The root, directed towards her, pierced her armor with ease and continued ripping through her belly.

Xifeng could feel that damn thing going even deeper inside her body, so with one firm blow, she cut the long branch clean with her hand engulfed in incandescent flames, leaving its tip inside her body.

Alarmed by the unfolding of these events, Xue and Yue transformed back into their half-beast forms and dragged Xifeng to a safe place.

Fortunately, those strange roots did not chase them, but a few moments later, a sinister voice came out of the ground: "What a pity... I wanted to kill you all. Well... At least one of you will die... HAHAHA..."
