#Chapter 37

*Rose's POV*

I buried my head in my hands. Hermione and I were at the library.

I was choosing my subjects for next year and I just needed one more subject to choose. However, the options weren't good.

I was stuck between Ancient Ruins and Divination.

I wasn't interested in both the subjects, but I had to pick one.

I eventually went for Divination because I thought it would be a bit more interesting and Ancient Ruins seemed too hard.

I sighed as I put my quill down. Hermione was scribbling words in a book. Then all of a sudden she tore the page out and moved her chair towards me and handed me the paper she tore out of the book.

Of the many Fearsome beasts and monsters that roam our land, there is none more curious or more deadly than the Basilisk, known also as the King Of Serpents.

This snake, which may reach gigantic size, and live many many of hundreds of years, is born from a chicken's egg, hatched beneath a toad.

It's methods of killing are most wondrous, for aside from its deadly Vemonos fangs, the Basilisk has a murderous stare, and all are fixed with a beam of its eye shall suffer instant death.

Spiders flee before the Basilisk, for it is their mortal enemy, and the Basilisk flees only from the crowing of the rooster, which is fatal to it.

The word Pipes was written on the page. I looked at Hermione.

"So you reckon that the monster is a snake and has been moving around the school through pipes?" I asked, my eyebrows raised.

She nodded,"I have done all the calculation and this fits like the perfect answer. Now all I have to do is show it to Harry and Ron. Where do you think they are?"

I looked at my watch,"The match against Gryffindor and Hufflepuff is soon, so that means they are at the-"

"Quidditch Pitch! On it, see you later Rose!" With that she quickly left the library.

"Bye," I called after her.

I started to pack my things into my bag.

"Rip.... Tear... Kill..."

I widned my eyes and stuffed everything into my bag, taking out my mirror. Hermione was in danger.

I rushed out to the library and ran to Hermione, just in time.

I could hear the snake slythering around us. I was so tempted to look into it's eyes, but I didn't. Hermione and I looked into the mirror.

There was big pair of large yellow eyes.

Everything was black.

I saw a serpent circling me.

Go inside of a person

Make sure you are certain

The beast is it out to kill

Remember that you only have one chance to control someone at will

I started to float. I looked down and saw my body, it was petrified.

My body was next to Hermione's body, and her her ghost floating above it.

"Are we dead?" I asked her.

"No," a voice replied.

Hermione and I flew to her as she continued to talk,"We are just out of the bodies."

We nodded,"What was that-that voice?"

"The riddle kind of voice?" She asked,"Apparently we get one chance to go into someone's body and control them. I used it to go into Draco and nudge Rose -not you- to drop the Potion on Madelyn."

"You were there with us?"

"Yes, I follow Rosie wherever she goes, since we are kind of like a ghost, we can't be seen bye humans. Roseline is my best friend so I stay with her all the time. I saw you two petrified, so I decided to come and meet you."

"So you are telling me that all the other bodies that have been petrified have ghosts?"

"Yes, even Mrs Norris."

"Cool," I said,"Who should I control?"

"Rose," Hermione said,"We have to use it wisely, we only have one chance. At the right moment I will show Harry and Ron they parchment that was clutched in my hand."

As if on cue, Harry and Ron with McGonagall came running in.

"Hermione!" Both of them shouted.

Ron noticed my body then whispered,"Rose."

I flew to him,"I am right here Ron."

But I was ignored. This all felt so sad. I hated being ignored.

"We found them near the Library," said Professor McGonagall,"I don't suppose either of you can explain this?"

She took out the mirror from my hand and held it up for Harry and Ron to see.

Both of them shook their heads staring at the both of us.

"I will escort you back to the Gryffindor tower," said Professor McGonagall heavily,"I need to address the students in any case."

I looked at Hermione,"Why didn't you show them the parchment right now?"

She sighed,"McGonagall was there. It would be weird if one of them straight away went and grabbed it out of my hand."

*

Seconds, minutes, hours, days past by and everything got boring as my friends could not see or hear me.

They came to visit my body everyday, talking to me about what happened during the day.

Colin Creevy was the boy who got petrified when I hit my head. He usually flew around Harry.

Hermione and I had made good friends with Ceilia, the Hufflepuff girl that got petrified.

I would sometimes be with the group in the Slytherin common room, sometimes with Ceilia following her friends, and rarely joining Hermione and Colin to be with Harry and Ron.

*

I was currently with Ceilia watching Roseline have a fight with her sister, Madelyn.

I was so angry at Madelyn.

"Rip... Tear... Kill..."

I could still hear the voice. I smirked having a plan in my mind.

I went into Madelyn and controlled her. I made her walk towards the sound. I could hear the snake slythering around so I made her look into the water.

Once again there were large, yellow eyes to be seen. I was able to get out of Madelyn's body.

I smirked at her petrified body, my mission was done.

*

Hermione and I were flying over the grounds dead at night. We wanted to get away from Madelyn.

I had forgotten that if Madelyn got petrified she would become a ghost like us to.

It was torture seeing her everyday, especially for the fact that we had roasted each other one night.

Anyway, Hermione wanted to see Hagrid, so we went to his cabin, but there wasn't anyone there.

"What do you think happened to him?" I asked Hermione.

"I don't know," she replied,"But if you hadn't told me to hang out with you yesterday and today, I think I would have known what happened to him."

"I-"

"Lumos," We both heard.

Hermione and I flew to the back of Hagrid's hut to see Ron, Harry and Fang going into the forest. We decided to join them.

Harry tapped Ron on the shoulder, pointing at the grass. Two spider were hurrying away from the wandlight into the shade of the trees.

"OK," Ron sighed,"I'm ready, lets go."

"What do you think they are up to?" I asked Hermione.

"I don't know," She replied,"But I think its good. Remember on the paper it said Spiders flee from it? They are definitely going the right way."

We followed them going deeper and deeper into the woods.

Harry suddenly stop looking down. I got confused to what he was looking at. Fang touched Harry, which made him step on Ron's foot.

I burst out laughing to how scared the boy who lived was. Hermione giggled with me as Ron and Harry had their conversation.

We went deeper and deeper into the forest passing alot of roots and stumps.

All of a sudden Fang barked, making Harry and Ron jump.

"What?" Said Ron loudly, looking around in the pitch dark.

I flew forward to see what it was. I laughed seeing that it was Dad's car. I went into it, and switched it on.

I pressed a button and the lights of the car turned on. I grinned.

"Harry!" Ron shouted,"Harry, its our car!"

"What?" Harry replied.

"Come on!" Ron said coming over to the car,"Its been here all this time! Look at it. The Forest's turned it wild."

Ron was right. The wings of the car were scratched and stared with mud.

"And we thought it was going to attack us!" Ron leaned on the car and parted it. I snorted, getting bored.

I started randomly pressing buttons, not knowing what was happening around me.

One the button's made the car turn on. I looked up to see no one there. I decided to have a ride in the car.

I went around, driving through the forest. I went down a slope to find Harry and Ron surrounded by spiders with Hermione floating above them.

I drove to them and opened the doors.

All of them rushed in, including Hermione. I drove as fast as I could to get away from the giant spiders.

"Thanks for saving them Rose," Hermione smiled.

"No problemo."

We reached Hagrid's hut and got out of the car. Harry went inside the cabin as Ron puked in the pumpkins.

"Follow the spiders," said Ron weakly,"I'll never forgive Hagrid. We're lucky to be alive."

*

It was another day after and I was sitting with Ceilia in the Hospital wing, staring at our bodies. Both of us were bored out of our ghost minds.

Ron and Harry came on the hospital wing with Hermione and Colin, above them, as usual.

"I think I will use my chance to control Harry now," She said.

Ceilia came over to me so we could watch Hermione go through Harry.

Hermione made Harry take the peice of paper and read it. We saw Hermione float. She had done it.

Harry and Ron stood up and ran towards wherever they were going, discussing about what was on the paper.

"All students to return to their dormitories at once. All teachers return to the staffroom."

Harry and Ron ran to the staffroom, to find out that Ginny had been taken by the Monster. Roseline was there too.

They convinced Lockhart to follow them, and together, we all went to the out-of-order girls bathroom.

"Open," Harry said.

The sink moved and there was a hole. Lockhart, Ron, Harry and Roseline jumped in.

I smirked as we waited in the bathroom for Ron, Harry and Rosie to come up,"Hermione, remember when you had cat fur?"

She blushed. I was just about to tell Ceilia the story, but everything went dark.

*

I woke up in the hospital wing, my mind all blank. What had happened? I saw Madam Pomfrey give something to Colin's body.

Did Hermione and I get petrified? What happened after that?

"Welcome back," Madam Pomfrey beamed at us,"You may go to the feast where everyone is waiting for you."

I smiled as all of us walked to the Great Hall.

Hermione ran and hugged Harry and Ron. As well as the Hufflepuff girl to Roseline. I did too.

The group hugged me back.

Then I took a deep breath and went towards the Hufflepuff table.

I tapped Roseline on the shoulder.

"Rose!" She said, then I hugged me, which I returned back.

"You guys friends?" Cedric Diggory asked.

"Yes," Rosie and I said in unison.

"See you later," I waved to Roseline and went to the Slytherin table.

*

The next part of the term was awesome! There were no exams, which made me very happy.

Gryffindor won once again, but for the first time, I didn't care. We were all safe, free.

Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to everyone.
