#Chapter 36

*Rose's POV*

Hermione got out of the hospital wing, de-whiskered, tail-less and fur-free, at the beginning of February.

The sun had now begun to shine weakly on Hogwarts again. Inside the castle, the mood had now grown hopeful.

There had been no more attacks since those on the Hufflepuff boy and the almost headless Ghost.

Madam Pomfrey had been pleased to report that the Mandrakes were becoming Moody and Secretive, meaning that they were fast leaving childhood.

I thought that the Slytherin Monster stopped attacking because it was a scary monster now that the school was alert.

Half of the credits went to Glideroy Lockhart, of course. He helped scare away the monster, and I was proud of him. We were all safe now.

*

We were at breakfast and all of us girls were in a giggly mood.

Lockhart was wearing lurid pink robes, waving for silence,"Happy Valentine's Day! And I may that the Forty-six people who have so far sent me cards! Yes, I have taken the liberty of arranging this little surprise for you all- and it doesn't end here!"

I blushed, happy to be one of the forty-six people who had given him a card.

Lockhart clapped his hands and through the doors to the Entrance Hall marched a dozen surly-looking dwarfs. Not just any dwarfs, however. They were all wearing Golden wings and carry harps.

"My friendly, card-carrying cupids!" Lockhart beamed and I giggled once more,"They will be roving around the school today, delivering your Valentines! And the fun doesn't stop here! I am sure my colleagues will want enter into the spirit of the occasion.

Why not ask Professor Snape to show you how to whip up a Love Potion! And while you're at it, Professor Flitwick knows more about Entrancing Enchantments than any wizard I have ever met, the sly old dog!"

"Let me guess, Rose" Blaise said as all of us walked out of The Great Hall,"You were one of her forty-six people to give Lockhart a card, am I right?"

I blushed.

"Look who is blushing," Blaise teased wiggling his eyebrows. I just blushed harder and Tracey giggled.

"I ship you two," she said.

"Shut up!" Blaise and I said in unison. This made the group laugh at both of us. Draco, however, looked slightly annoyed.

But my attention went to a dwarf that stood in front of me. She had cards in her hands. The dwarf handed them to me, and I said,"Thank you." to her.

I looked through the cards. Most of them were from my friends, but my eyes shined when I saw one in particular. It said:

Miss Rose,

Thank you so much for the Valentine card! I have put it up on my wall and I loved it. Here is one from me, with a signed copy of one of my books.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Your teacher,

Gilderoy Lockhart.

Blaise smirked at me as I turned my face away from him, blushing once again as well well walked to our first class.
