#Chapter 42

*Rose's POV*

"Thanks for choosing Muggle studies with me, Blaise," I said smiling at Blaise.

"No problem," He beamed back.

We walked to our first ever Muggle Studies lesson. Blaise had also chosen this subject with me, the reasons being unknown.

Our teacher, Professor Charity Burbage, introduced about what we would be learining.

As it was our first lesson, we didn't do much.

We learned to do 'comprehension.'

Us students had to read a muggle book that Professor Burbage gave us, then there were questions on the book that we had to answer.

"This is a muggle way to check if you have understood the book or not," Professor Burbage said,"Us teachers should definitely try this muggle way out."

"I see no point of all this," I whispered to Blaise.

"Yeah, I kind of regret choosing muggle studies now," he replied.

I shrugged,"There should have been more better options to choose from, I blame this school."

After lunch, Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, Pansy, Tracey and I went down to Hagrid's hut to do Care Of Magical Creatures.

Hagrid was there waiting for his class, impatient, wanting to start.

"Come on now, ge' a move on!" He said to the people who were still on their way,"Go' a real trea' for ya today, grea' lesson commin' up. Everyone here! Righ' follow me."

We went around the edge trees, and five minutes later we found ourselves in front of a kind of paddock.

But there was nothing in there.

"Everyone gather aroun' the fence here," Hagrid called,"That's it, make sure you can see. Now, first thin' you want to do is open your books."

"How?" asked Draco.

"Aye?" said Hagrid.

"How do we open our books," Draco asked once again.

I took out my copy of Monsters book of Monsters which was bound shut with a rope.

Many others also started to take out their books. Some had belted their books shut and some had crammed the book in their bags or clammed them in bull clips.

"Hasn' anyone been able to open their books?" said Hagrid looking crestfallen.

We all shook our heads.

"You've got ter stroke em'," said Hagrid as though this was the most obvious thing in the world,"Look."

He took Hermione's copy and ripped of the spello-tape that was bounded.

The book tried to bite, but Hagrid ran his giant forefinger down its spine and the book shivered and then fell open quite in his hand.

"Oh how silly we have all been," Draco sneered,"We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess?"

"I-I thought they were funny," Hagrid said uncertianly.

"Oh tremendously funny," said Draco,"Really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands off."

I kind of agreed with Draco.

"Shut up Malfoy," said Harry queitly.

"Righ' then," carried on Hagrid,"So... So now you have got your books and... and now you need the magical creatures, ya, so I'll go and get em'. Hang on."

I raised my eyebrow at Hagrid. If he was going to stutter and not be sure about what he was going to teach in his own class, he wasn't a really good teacher.

Hagrid strode away from us into the forest and out of sight

"God this place is going to the dogs!" Draco said loudly,"That oaf teaching class, my father will have a fit when he hears about this."

"Shut up Malfoy," Harry repeated once again.

"Are you just going to tell Draco to shut up, or will you mind your own business?" I said to Harry.

He blushed.

"Careful Potter, there is a dementor behind you."

"Ooohhhh," squealed Lavender Brown, a Gryffindor that I really despised. She pointed towards the opposite side of the paddock.

Trotting towards us were a dozen of the most bizzare creatures I had every seen. I took my book and flipped through the pages to find out what they were.

It was a Hippogriff. They looked really scary.

"Hippogiffs!" Hagrid roared looking happy.

I rolled my eyes, I already knew what they were.

"beautiful aren' they?"

I hesitated.

The Hippogriffs weren't really my type of beautiful.

"So," said Hagrid rubbing his hands together and beaming around at us,"If you want to come a bi' nearer."

None of us seemed to want to.

Harry, Ron and Hermione, however, approached the fence cautiously.

Hermione pulled me with her. I widened my eyes,"Hermione, No!"

"Yes! We are going to this together," she replied.

"Now, first thing you need to know about Hippogriffs is that they are proud," said Hagrid,"Easily offended Hippogriffs are. Don't never insul' one 'cause it may be the last thing yer even do."

Draco, Crabbe and Goyle weren't listening, they were whispering in a low voice. I rolled my eyes at them, when would they ever start paying attention in class.

"Yer always wait for the Hippogriff to make the firs' move," Hagrid continued,"Its polite. See, you walk towards 'im and yer bow, and yer wait. If he bows back her can touch 'im. If he doesn't bow back then move away sharply 'cause those tallons hurt."

"Righ'," Hagrid said,"Who wants ter go firs'?

I backed away. It seemed like the whole class did too, perhaps they were following my lead? Copycats!

"No one?" Hagrid asked.

"I-I'll do it," Harry suddenly said.

What a show off. He only said that because he was in Gryffindor and he was the chosen one.

Harry climbed over the fence of the paddock and to Hagrid.

"So," I said to Hermione,"We have been having the exact same classes, isn't that a coincidence?"

"Yes, indeed it is, Rose," Hermione said, not taking her eyes of Harry.

"Wait a minute.... Didn't you say you had taken Arithmecy?"

"Yeah, I took it, fascinating subject, really," Hermione replied.

"But that is the same time as Divination!"

She ignored me.

"Hermioneeee."

Before I could do anything I heard,"Its killed me, its killed me!"

"Oh no what did Draco do now?"

"He offended the Hippogriff," replied Hermione.

I raised my eyebrow at her,"Oh so now you stop ignoring."

Once again, nothing.

Draco was busy yelling his head off.

"Professor Hagrid, shall I take Draco to the Hospital wing?" I asked.

"Er, erm, yes, the hospital wing! Thank you Miss Rose," stuttered Hagrid.

I went to Draco,"Stand up so we can go to the Hospital wing."

"I-I can't!" He replied.

"Oh come on Draco, its you arm that got injured, not your legs, stop being over dramatic. Now get up."

He stood up and together we went to the Hospital wing.
