Soul Thief

Ammine shot magic from her fists at the banshee as it was swooping down towards them but it quickly spun around and dodged them. She jumped to the side as the banshee sped past her. It may not have a physical form but she knew better than to stand still and let it touch her. Banshees attack the souls of their targets, and no matter how powerful a person is, there is no way to protect the soul, making even the strongest defenseless against it. Ammine couldn't risk punching it either which made things very difficult for her since her magic wasn't for ranged combat.

Kies tried to hit the banshee as it flew by him but missed as well. It was flying too fast for him to even get a clear look at it. The only thing that he knew was that it had a ghostly appearance that was quite similar to the wind spirits he saw before.

"How are we supposed to hit it!?" asked Kies. The banshee was too quick for them. If they couldn't hit it then how were they supposed to fight it.

"You have to attack it when it's close to you, but whatever you do, make sure that it doesn't touch you!"

The banshee flew back around and targeted Kies this time. Kies watched it zigzag towards him and waited until it was close as Ammine had said and then shot a jet of wind at it. The banshee quickly spun to the side to dodge the attack, which also caused it to miss its opportunity to attack Kies as it didn't have the time to redirect itself and flew past him.

Kies turned around as the banshee passed him and tried to hit it with another jet of wind while it was still close to him. The wind hit the banshee and it let out a horrible screech right in of Kies, stunning him. Kies staggered around a little for a bit, holding his head when he heard shouting.

"What are you doing?! Move!" Ammine ran up to him and shook him out of his daze and then shoved him as she jumped back herself to get out of the way as the banshee flew through where they were just standing. "D*mn it!"

Ammine barely managed to dodge the banshee and hit the back of her head against a tree while doing so. "Ah!" She rubbed her head and quickly recovered just in time to see the banshee coming back around.

"Ugh, my head," muttered Kies. He held his head as he slowly got up from the ground. He was still dizzy from the loud screech and had trouble standing up properly. The banshee saw that Kies was vulnerable and let out a hideous laugh as it sped towards him.

"Snap out it!" Ammine screamed at Kies. She shot a few bolts of magic at the banshee to try to get it to change its trajectory, but it was too fast. The banshee screeched in delight as it flew through Kies. Ammine cursed and hurried over to Kies to check on him but abruptly stopped. "What?"

"What happened?" Kies asked. Both of them were confused as to why Kies was still fine after the banshee had flown through him.

The banshee also realized that it hadn't taken Kies soul and let out a confused "Huh?" But its confusion didn't last for long as it suddenly screeched out in anger and did a 180 and flew right at Ammine this time.

Ammine and Kies shot magic at the banshee but it dodged all of them once again. Ammine slowly took steps backward as she shot magic at the banshee and suddenly slipped on a twig and stumbled. The banshee saw the opening and immediately accelerated.

Ammine wasn't able to regain her balance and fell to her knee. She cursed and quickly shot a bolt of magic at the banshee who was accelerating too fast to dodge it, but it didn't care. The banshee took the attack head-on and cried out in pain as the bolt hit but it didn't stop. The banshee zoomed at Ammine and laughed hysterically.

"Ammine!" shouted Kies. He tried to hit the banshee with his magic as well but it was impossible to hit it from the side with the speed that it was moving at.

Ammine tried to roll away from it but was already too late. The banshee flew clean through her and her body continued to roll for a bit before becoming completely still.

"Ammine!" Kies called out to her again. He quickly shot some jets of wind at the banshee as it flew away and then ran over to her. "Are you okay?" He shook her but she didn't respond. Kies saw that her face was very pale and when he placed his finger under her nose, he noticed that she wasn't breathing either.

Kies heard a mocking screech in the distance and turned just in time to see the banshee disappear into the trees.
