Ammine didn't hesitate to attack the enemy and charged at them. For some reason, the enemy continued to stand still, as if they didn't care that they were about to get hit. But Ammine didn't care, she coated her hands with magic and punched the enemy in the chest. "Huh!?" Ammie's fist went through their body and she stumbled with how much force she put behind that attack and not having contact with it.
"You really think I would be so foolish as to face so many of you with just myself?" The voice was female and sounded hollow too.
"A false body," Lisler commented. Kies looked at the enemy more closely and saw that she was hovering above the ground. She had no face as well.
"Yes indeed, what you see in front of you right now is nothing but an illusion," the female voice told everyone. "There is no point in you trying to attack me as it wouldn't harm my real body."
Bloodmane growled. "What is it that you want!?" he demanded from the illusion.
"My oh my, how aggressive. That's no way to treat a lady now is it?" the lady laughed. "But in all seriousness, please take a look at this." A screen appeared in front of them and began projecting an image. They immediately recognized the figures in the image as the witch's undead that they had just met before. It didn't show how it happened but all the witch's undead were being pressured by an unknown enemy and forced to retreat. "I don't think I need to explain to you what's going on."
From the looks of things, it seems that the witch's forces were losing despite having a huge advantage in numbers. "How!?" Bloodmane asked in shock. Didn't the Bone Whistler only have two greater undead serving him? How was it that despite there being several times more on the witch's side that they were losing?
The lady laughed again and said, "I'm sure you're asking yourself how we're winning when you have so many more greater undead on your side right?" She took the words right out of Bloodmane's mouth. "Well, let's just say quantity isn't everything. The two of us who serve the Harvester are more than enough to deal with those weaklings. Anyway, I'm here to offer you a deal. Leave the witch and join us."
"This, I must not accept," Lisler declines the offer without any hesitation. He then rushes forward and slashes at the illusion, but as expected, the blade went through and nothing happened. He then hops back from the lady and lands right next to Ammine.
The lady laughs and repeats what she said earlier, "I already said this before, but it doesn't seem like you paid attention, but no amount of physical attacks will do anything to me. I guess I can take that as a sign that you decline my offer. What about the rest of you?" The lady turned her head around and looked at the rest of the group. Since her face was blank except for a stub that likely was the nose, they couldn't tell who she was actually 'looking' at them.
"Hmph, we decline as well," Bloodmane answered for himself and his pack.
"So do the rest of us," Haro tells the lady.
The lady puts one of her hands on her hips and the other on her mouth and says, "What a shame. Looks like I will have to stop you right here." After saying that, the lady disappeared. The trees around them suddenly became distorted again and hundreds of undead suddenly phased into existence, surrounding them.
*Groan* An undead appears behind Ammine and grabs her by her shoulders. She elbows it away before it can bite her and after freeing herself from the undead's grips, she knocks its head right off with a punch. A few undead also appear beside Lisler, but he easily disposes of them with his sword. The two of them retreat back to the group.
Without having to say anything to one another, everyone spreads out and forms a tight circle against the giant horde of undead. "Where did all these undead come from?" one of the werewolves asked.
"May they be false bodies as well?" Lisler proposed.
"No, I can smell their disgusting scent. They're quite real," Bloodmane said. "And also, are we sure that we should be here fighting them and not going after the Bone Whistler?" Bloodmane asked everyone. The enemy was likely doing this to stall them. If what that lady had shown them was the truth and not another illusion to trick them, then they needed to find a way out and get to the Bone Whistler as soon as possible before the battle was lost.
