Bones And Marrow VII

Surprisingly, Kies had more than enough magic for the vortex to kill every single last undead on his side. Kies canceled his vortex after the last undead got sucked in and dismembered from colliding with all the other bodies and limbs. It was a cruel way of killing them but since they were already dead, Kies hoped that they didn't feel any pain or suffering from his spell.

The vortex slowed down to a halt and the bodies, limbs, and blood all splattered on the dirt in front of Kies. It was a good thing that he had cast the spell a bit away from him since otherwise, it might have gotten all over him. But since he had cast Wind Shell to protect himself, it probably wouldn't have gotten on him anyway.

Now that the danger was gone from both the undead and his own spell, Kies canceled Wind Shell as well as it was draining a lot of his magic. He looked at the massive pile of bodies in front of him. There were well over a hundred undead in there. Wind Vortex was a scarily powerful spell. But then again, it looked like the lesser undead he fought all had fragile bodies. He wasn't sure if the vortex would be as effective against opponents that had tougher bodies.

Kies turned around to see if he could help anyone else out now that he was done with his task. He still had a little bit of magic to spare. It wasn't enough for a chanted spell but it was enough for him to blast a few enemies with some jets of wind.

It looked like everyone else was still fighting. It didn't look like he should or could interfere with Bloodmane's and Haro's fight so he turned and called out to Ammine. "Hey, I'm done here. Do you need help?"

"Huh?" Ammine turned around and glanced at Kies and then at the pile of bodies behind him. "How did you- actually never mind. I can handle this myself. Go take a quick break or something." Ammine returned her focus to the undead on her side and continued slaughtering them.

Kies didn't know what to do now so he just watched the fight between Bloodmane and the Bone Whistler while he waited for his magic to come back. Just by standing still and doing nothing, he felt magic quickly flooding back into his body. It shouldn't take too long for him to completely refill on magic power.

Bloodmane continued to make quick attacks and run around the Bone Whistler, giving him a hard time. It didn't seem like the werewolf's attacks were doing much though. They only left small marks on his hard bony body. It looked like the only thing he managed to do was piss off the creature since he didn't look like he was going to fall any time soon.

Bloodmane on the other hand looked exhausted. His speed was gradually dropping and he was breathing heavily. But Kies guessed that this was expected considering that the werewolf had to run around a lot to dodge attacks unlike the Bone Whistler, who only had to occasionally turn his body very slightly and only used his fists to deal with the werewolf. In fact, the Bone Whistler may not even be able to get tired at all or feel pain for all they know.

After dodging another attack from the Bone Whistler, Bloodmane howled and brought down both his claws on the monster's legs, clawing off a good chunk of bone. This greatly angered the Bone Whistler and he turned his head up into the air and let out another high-pitched shrill. Kies quickly covered his ears with his hands as the air and ground shook again. Other than him, everyone else was caught off-guard by the attack.

Ammine was brought down to one knee while covering her ears and Haro tumbled out of the sky and crashed landed onto a tree. Bloodmane pressed his ears against his head and had his teeth clenched, waiting for the terrible sound to end. The only ones that weren't affected by the noise were the Bone Whistler himself, the lady, and Issie.

The lady used this opportunity to call out more undead to replace the ones that had fallen. All around them, undead appeared from the trees in addition to crawling out of the ground this time. There were a lot more undead than before. If Kies were to estimate, there were about ten times as many as before.

The shrilling noise stopped and the Bone Whistler turned its body and slammed his fists into Bloodmane who was still stunned from the sound. The werewolf was sent rolling across the dirt into a tree. *Yelp*

But before Kies could run over and help him, he felt a hand grab onto his shoulder and he turned his head to see an undead with its mouth wide open, just about to bite him.
