"Yes, mine blade follows the old bone's guidance." Lisler continues to point his sword at Kies and the two of them standoff for a moment. A high-pitched whistle broke the silence. Immediately after hearing the whistle, Lisler put away his sword and slowly backed off from Kies. "It appears that I am needed elsewhere at the moment of time. Your life is still yours... for now."
The masked swordsman nimbly hopped away and disappeared into the forest. Kies waited a few seconds and when he knew that he was safe, he looked down at his left leg and pulled out the object in his leg. It was a small, sleek throwing knife. Kies tossed it away and went back to looking around at the carnage once more before leaving.
Kies was lost and had no idea where to go, but he did know what he needed to do. The first thing that he needed to do was to find Ammine and the others and reunite with them. He didn't know what the current situation was like, but he was pretty sure that they had lost the battle. He also needed to inform them of Lisler's betrayal in case that they didn't already know of it.
But before he started moving, he checked on his wound first. He couldn't check the one that was on his back but the one in his stomach was rather small. The undead's sword was a lot thinner than it looked. It was either that or the wound got smaller. Kies watched as the injury slowly shrunk smaller and smaller until it disappeared.
Kies checked on the wound on his leg and saw that it was gone as well. He guessed that the giant slash on his back was also gone. The only thing that he really suffered was damaged clothes. Kies checked around for anything else that might be of concern and after confirming that there was nothing else, he moved on from the area.
Upon walking past one of the greater undeads' bodies, Kies found something interesting. It was a small rock that gave off a decently strong magic aura. Kies went over to the body and picked up the rock. At a closer inspection, he found out that it wasn't any ordinary old rock but rather it was some kind of dark crystal. The owner was a skeleton holding a staff in its arms. The bottom half of its body was missing and there were a few pieces of scattered spinal bones around it. Kies recognized the undead from a book, and if he remembered correctly, it was a lich. It was weird to see such a widely feared and powerful monster laying on the ground.
Kies rolled the crystal around in his hand and suddenly felt a surge of energy rush from it to his hand and up his arms, all the way to his heart. Kies reflexively dropped the crystal and placed his hand where his heart, or rather core was. He felt his chest pulsing with magic power.
Kies picked up the crystal again and saw that it had stopped emitting the aura. He had drained all the magic from it. It was now just a plain old gem. Kies gently put the crystal back where he found it in the lich's hand and got up.
Without a second thought, Kies brought his arm out and shot a blast of wind at a nearby tree without chanting. The jet of wind tore through the bark and pierced out through the other side. There was a creaking sound as the remaining wood in the tree's base broke from being unable to support its weight and fell over. It landed on another tree neighboring it and leaned against it.
Seeing this, Kies couldn't help but want to test how much stronger his other magic spells were now. He held out his arm again and started chanting. "Winds, heed my call and serve my will." The winds rushed to his hands. Kies aimed his palm at the tree that fell over and continued, "Clear a path for me this instant." The winds roared as they gushed forward fiercely and blew away everything in front of him.
All the trees in the wind's path were uprooted and sent flying away. There was nothing left in front of Kies other than a large trail in the dirt to serve as a reminder of where the wind blew. Kies placed his hand on his chest again and felt that it was still surging with magic power. It wasn't just a temporary power boost. He had gotten stronger.
